    I didn't realize until now that the small pedestrian paths are under the landscaping menu. I though I was going crazy when all I could find was the pedestrian streets.

      haha yeah! Very glad I could help with that. You are going to have so much fun with the paths!

    Love it that you're clearly a fellow Pres fan. Was missing that style of content!
    Totally agree about the pedestrian paths, using them in tactical ways is the prime manner of decorating and making things look realistic. I use it to reshuffle the zoning grids a lot.

    I love this format! I put some small commercial spots in my last residential build. It was a bit more rural but as it transitions to suburban I'll make sure to highlight it and make it a bit more special.

    i wish they could add low density mixed zones, at least here in south america they are pretty common on suburbs, most of them are family-owned shops/services.

  • @MrTwisted003
    @MrTwisted003 5 месяцев назад +1

    Something I always try to do is add a small, or med, sized commercial spot at the corner and at "T" crossings in residential neighborhoods. Not on any dead end streets tho. Also I add an office or 2 here and there later on when education levels are higher. And In Industrial areas too, I add a bit more commercial and office spattered about. I used to add a house near farms, but I found the cims like it better when I add 1 office and a few commercial with a few more industrial spots next to the farm, oil, mine, etc. They tend to make more money then. And a lot of time the industrial added can be manipulated to be storage, or farm specific. Then the rest of the commercial is localized outside of the residential area, usually between low and med and high density, and in the area of medium density homes also get at least one mixed use on the corners. If not a whole row of them down a specific street.

    I do hope they add some corner lots in the future that actually have two road-facing sides.

    • @canadianmooseplays
      @canadianmooseplays  7 месяцев назад

      I found some but it seems to be just for mixed use currently. BUT try zoning out a 2 by 2 mixed use lot? That might be what you are looking for.

    Might be nice to put the same small commercial plots in industrial areas too. Workers could use a place to get lunch, and a petrol station would fit in too.

    Awesome video! Man, this looks and feels like a totally different game than I've been playing... I feel rushed to meet demand and slap out zones and buildings haphazardly all over the place, wherever there's a free square. My city looks like shit compared to this. ): Your way looks a lot more zen and fun way of playing.
    Maybe I'm bad at these kinds of games, but I think I need to slow down and zoom in more, and maybe not be afraid to redo areas and space things out more. Any other advice @canadianmooseplays ?

    • @canadianmooseplays
      @canadianmooseplays  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! 100 percent I think the best recommendations I can give is to go slow and take your time with it . Spend time learning the game mechanics and like you mentioned do not be afraid to redo an area. I do it all the time! and of course lastly HAVE FUN! City building is all about the journey!

    What about 1x1 or 2x2 mixed zoning? Will it create like a small corner store with an apt with of 1 to 3 floors?

    i bought CS2 and am loving it. once again i underestimated mechanical drive vs ssd. an ssd helps this game sooooo much compared to having it on a mechanical drive. i'm averaging 45 fps on high with a 2080 rtx, 5600x AMD, 32 gigs 3200 ddr4, and mechanical was 10-25fps, 30-50fps if i didn't move the camera at all (edit: it would be cool if you could hire ministers or advisors and then have them pinpoint optimal places to put transit stops, parking lots, schools and other things)

    sir, i dont think this applies to simlulation logics, this is only based on a real life store values and offers. I dont see why i should waste 4 very expensive tiles on a lil store when i can have that and a whole building

  • @MTandi
    @MTandi 7 месяцев назад

    If only you knew that commercial zones barely play any role in the simulation, and are mostly there to seem like there is something happening and people be happy with cars going back and forth in their eyecandy cities.

  • @pedramkavian

    Dude, just because in our real life there are small shops near us, doesn't mean you must do the same in CS.
    There is something very important in CS which is called Noise Pollution from commercial zones. Even when the noise is low, it affects the happiness and you're going to get notification about that all the time.

      I got an awesome idea. Game called Evil Builder. ITs a city builder, you build a nightmarish dystopian futuristic city with really cool looking buildings, yet its just a click of button to go from that to normal looking city. Its an LUT, but its the way the game was meant to be played, on evil mode. Dark ambience youtube city stuff makes me think of that.@@canadianmooseplays
