Thank you very much for making this bc times have been rough for me making money at a regular 9 to 5 . So paying for professional headshots would be ideal to submit to casting calls from Backstage Mandy etc.. however it's not even an option for me so it was awesome to come across a casting director seeking submissions from real type people . She specifically mentioned not to send in glamour shots. After I laughing I continued reading . She mentioned in the post she wanted two snap shots of your head and shoulders . So basically 2 headshots but she wanted them to be taken selfie style to capture the real you. She also wanted 2 full body pics that again she stated looks like you look now . Again I laughed bc I can imagine all the people she sees who look nothing like there headshot . I am glad I came across your video before heading out to snap a few pics to submit. She mentioned selfies were what she was looking for so per her request that is what I will give her. I'm begining by setting up my trip pod with my cell attached for full body pics. Once I have something decent to send in it's headshot time . I'm planning on using my super long selfie stick for the headshots . If none of those headshots are doing it for me I'm submitting ones I took in my car. Yup ones that I took in my car. I'll submit those because they came out in my opinion pretty good . So wish me luck
Thank you so much, this was really helpful! I really love your personality too! The video feels friendly and welcoming as opposed to others that are just cold and overwhelming.
I can't just whistle up a halo light and there are not many plain backgrounds at my disposal in the house, so what's the next best thing? I am using a hand held tablet, and as the face and chest are the objective, would a black roll neck sweater against a lighter background suffice, with a front facing light, is it better for posture to be standing rather than sitting? and then crop the photo accordingly. I'm a mature female, with creative industry possibility rests on the shot probably.
Hey! Great questions. The black sweater against the lighter background sounds like a good option if that is what you have to work with. Shooting the headshot outdoors is always an option if you can find a solid background there (i.e. any thing not distracting like against brick or greenery). Standing or sitting, either is fine as long as your posture is good. And yes, you always want front facing light for shots light this (Natural lighting or with a lamp - just some low budget suggestions). Hope this helps! best of luck!
Sure thing. I use Camera Raw in Photoshop CC, but if you take it on your phone, you are able to use the photo editor on your phone. I may do a tutorial video on how I edit in Camera Raw in the future.
There is a way to combine natural light and the lights in your home to make it bright enough to look more professional. I had limited natural light in the room I used in this video.
Finally someone who isn't shaming people for not being able to afford it being taken professionally :)
@Greta Bruzzo Yea right, sounds like your trying to sell headshots lol. If you do it tastefully yourself no one will notice

How did she edit the background is there any app that helps to do that?
Hi! Are you referring to the background of the studio headshot photos? If so, then the background was removed with Adobe Photoshop.
Thank you!!! 🥰
This was very informative!

@@ShineStrongLiveLong yes please do thank you so so much really appreciate it
Can I use a ring light if I’m taking the headshot with glasses ?
Yes, you can use a ring light. However, from experience, it will take a few tries with different head angles to avoid glare.
Great Video
helpful
Love from India ❤❤
What if you don't have a hello light?
Natural lighting works great as well.
would it be inappropriate to wear make up or glossy gloss?
I think make up and lip gloss is fine. However, I would recommend leaning to something more neutral than flashy.
Love this video ❤️
Thanks
You really need to book a professional headshot photographer.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great video
Just what I needed! Thank you 🌻

The one with natural light didn't look professional at all. The one with ring light was better but most do it yourselfers won't own a ring light.
