Awesome performance! Acknowledging the french horn soloist is great, but Matic Kuder on E-flat clarinet gave an outstanding and characteristic interpretation! Definitely gonna keep an eye on him because that was great!
Terrific performance of a dandy tone poem! The woodwinds shine as they always do and special mention to Maestro Weigle's sparky tuxedo! It would be perfect for a New Year's concert! Thank you for another year of wonderful music. Wishing everyone in the orchestra Happy Holidays from here in Canada!
I don't see how it can get any better than this. It's such an intricate score played with precision, aplomb, and style and the cinematography is so nicely synchronized to the music. Someone in the video department knows how to read music for sure! Berlin can learn from this. (On a good day, Vienna and Berlin can be this good.) Thank you Frankfurt!!!
@@koopalovetoast2409 One, once the conductor got a tempo going, it remained inflexible, when the music wanted to pull ahead or behind in that tempo, it stayed stagnant; in effect, there lacked interpretation, and there's a lot that can be interpreted in this work, aside from Strauss's own indications. Plus I don't think he brought out the humor, which there is plenty. I've played this many times with famous conductor's - Muti, Mehta, Sawallisch - the interpretation in question I thought was very tame. I think this is better: ruclips.net/video/X94yHgFHv5M/видео.html&ab_channel=carvcom2 - definitely more playful.
@@muslit to me this recording seems kind of rushed, but I have to admit I've never listened to any other recording than this one with Sebastian Weigle because I was there in person and just then discovered the piece for myself. I think they are both valid interpretations, the Weigle one is just very clean and just sounds very modern, as you said, very tame. But it's fine in my opinion.
@@koopalovetoast2409 In my opinion the Weigle performance misses the whole point of who Till was: roguish and a prankster. The full title of the score isTill Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks. In addition, the Mehta performance is much closer to the tempo markings Strauss wrote in the score. Keep in mind the latter performance was recorded more than 30 years ago. Here's another video of Furtwangler conducting the Berlin Phil. Furtwangler knew Strauss. ruclips.net/video/m1XGgF6xVqc/видео.html&ab_channel=BestInterprets
Had second row seats to this beautiful concert, this performance was remarkable!

Herr Weigle mal wieder bei uns in Frankfurt. Sehr schön, willkommen :-). PS: er ist einfach ein großartiger Richard-Strauss-Dirigent.
Strauss is among my favorite composers! ❤ Thank you so much for this beautiful performance! 💐 🙏😊

Best orchestra in the world right now.
Amazing Performance :)
one of the best orchestral show pieces
Really? I don't agree. It's just okay. Maybe for horn yes. But that's it.
A capable performance of the timeless and entertaining Strauss tone poem.
Frohe Weihnachten, Maestro Weigle!
Good!
Is the e-flat clarinet player Matic Kuder? AMAZING!!!
I'm looking forward to reading the music in June!

Thanks for NOT showing the trombone section at 12:38.

Strauss is always devoid of melody. It is meandering and not on par with the truly great composers. And it all sounds the same. Not inspirational.

Underwhelming performance.
That's what your mother said to me last night :/
In what ways?
