RV Camping @ Jekyll Island Campground is not for everyone

- We took our first trip outside of Florida to beautiful Jekyll Island on the SE Georgia coast. It is a historic high end resort community.
It was a nice place. The campground was almost full in the middle of the week with lots of repeat long-term customers.
We are split on camping there. Rhonda loved it and I thought it was too much like a "resort" but I really enjoyed the bike riding and beaches (too cold to swim in Nov. for a Florida man) if forced I will go back.
TIP: you have to pay to get on the island - if you plan on staying for more than one day but are not leaving the island you don't "need" to pay for more than one day. The toll collection is automated and confusing. We just paid for a single day for a regular car not oversize vehicle. The people at the campground said "don't worry about it" unless you plan on going on and off the island.

truck driver on I-95 run Florida everyday from South Carolina agricultural inspection station those guys are usually just sitting in there waving at you. I'm going to Jekyll Island with wife someday when we get a chance it's on the list I'm sure you know what I'm talkin about. Thanks for doing this video people like you that make RUclips special because there's so much crap on here that just plain stinks.
Thanks for moving products up and down the highway it makes America work. We all like different stuff ... but there are some poorly done videos out there.
I still vote for Edisto Beach State Park, SC on the beach side! The marsh side is ok too. I love hearing the ocean and local low key place..except summer..it busy. Thanks for share.
Beach parks are hard to get reservations but that sounds good.
We recently camped at Blythe Island County Park and drove the car to Jekyll Island one day of our trip.
It is a very pretty area.

That oak tree was worth the trip but your list of "Cons" was well founded :-) In 2003 Yoly and I made a trip there and stayed at a Holiday Inn on the beach. This was before it was developed so much and I don't think the HI is there anymore. It was about $70 a night. I hadn't ridden a bike in 40 years and was surprised that after riding 16 miles the first day my legs weren't at all tired the next day. I was excited to get back on the bike and do some more trail riding until the moment my butt hit the seat and the pain revealed itself ..... no more biking for me for a long time :-)
😆 I bought a new softer bike seat.

I'm electronically challenged , I haven't figured out how to edit videos yet.
We were there in a hotel little over a year ago and loved the quiet little island. We are going back this coming may for a few days but we are taking the rv this time with our bikes. When I was there last I had no problems from anyone while flying my drone....in fact I was in the middle of the island and was getting good shots of the trees with spanish moss and got tangled up in some of that moss way up at the top of one. The fire dept sent 2 fire trucks over with their ladders and were barely able to get it for me....really nice people and saved me 800 bux. If there are rules against flying them there they sure werent enforcing it.

We went out to Savannah last year and loved it there but did not get out to Jekyll Island. We would like to make it out there soon.

You stated there's a fee to get on island. Is that just when you arrive or you have to state how long your camping for and pay accordingly?
The fee was at the gate and I think it was by day, but it has been a while since we have been there. I am sure this is listed on their website. It is a beautiful place.

How are the mosquitoes and no-see-ums there?
They were not that bad. It was Nov 7 -10 that we were there. There were some no-see-ums but not horrible if you were moving around. We sat outside in the evening with a fan on us and were fine. I have an outdoor bug light that I love to use ... cooking bugs is my favorite sound.

I turned it off when I heard this clown complain the government was too involved with highway safety. Stay in the woods and don't endanger the rest of us.
