Fun fact: Caleb got LASIK surgery so he wouldn’t have to deal with key lights reflecting in his glasses. Talk about dedication to your craft. RUclips Legend!
I feel like such an idiot for never even considering using the DJI Go Mics as a line out transmitter from my field recorder to the line-in of my camera. As a concert videographer who's always moving around and can't really go back to my mics to check levels, this just saved me so much frustration!
I've found the older Rode Filmmaker more reliable as a line level transmitter. I had some issues trying to use a Wireless Go with anything other than a mic. Not sure if that's bug or design - but as I've got both I'd always use the older type downstream.
I haven't seen a video of yours in quite a while, and holy hell you look great, dude! Also, still glad to see you just... attaching stuff to other stuff. Keep that up.
My mind is figuratively being blown away by this setup. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how everything is connected, but that wireless headphone setup literally unlocked some mental blocks I've been having with my podcasts.
every single one of these videos, I just wanna buy all that crap for the simple purpose of putting it together while having absolutely no need for any of it. 😂
Caleb I love checking out the solutions you come up with and the simple way you break everything down in a super quality video. Thank-you for the time and dedication you put into sharing your discoveries with us!
LOVE IT. I love the jankey setup with just gear you have laying around. I love the creativity of using the headphone monitoring + transmitter to make a wireless headphone!!
Great seeing you again, and LOVE the Wireless GO hack for creating wireless headphones! I’ve been needing that and have some Wireless GOs to use. Perfect!!! ❤
Love it! I had a setup like this for many years and it works so well! I like yours better, min was all mounted nearly identically but to a rolling tripod and a fixed to the head was my a cam with teleprompter! A great all in one. Also had a hdmi splitter in the mix to send another signal out to a larger reference monitor
Looking great! (both you without glasses and this set-up) The humming issue when recording: found out about that the hard way! I would've lost an entire day worth of shooting because of it but luckily I had the internal recording rolling on the Go II Love the cold shoe on the headphones, I am going to give that a go. I've also purchased a 3d printer, so looking forward to going in to that rabbit hole..... I've been more than a little absent due to burn-out and some tough business decisions, but slowly climbing out of the pit. Good to see you uploading again as well.
Hey Caleb, it's always nice to see you again. ALthough I will miss the glasses (they are a channel staple, after all), you look hella nice without them as well. I hope you are hapopy and healthy doing what you do. Much love!
I know you like DIY, but for the headphone / Wireless Go combo, you could also use an SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless headset. Still latency free and you'd always have a recharged battery in the base. The base is USB powered, so can be powered from the V-mount at the camera.
Fascinating. You kinda blew by the attachment of the V-mount plate to the Mix-pre. That was the thing that most interested me. I am usually good though with a 20k mah battery pack because it fits in my sound bag.
Damn Caleb, WTF 😂, I know for sure I won't ever do this but this is whole other Level of passion and dedication. Bought 2 212 V mounts for the culture. Cineback next.
Good to see you and a video from you Caleb. Just as detailed and amazing as usual. Caleb, please when are we seeing a video on the Blackmagic Pyxis 6k, and the guide? Hope I am not asking for too much? Cheers.
Much simpler setup: Sony UWP-D XLR transmitter plug on mic. 3 receivers set to the same channel. 2 can go into the cameras' smart shoe and 1 into the audio recorder.
I'd be willing to bet the weird hum while recording if you're charging the Rode system is due to a ground loop. Same thing happened when I was trying to power my Zoom recorder and camera from the same source once I connected an audio cable between them. Once I got the zoom on its own power source the hum/buzzing went away.
Your stuff is always so thought out. Love it. Was wondering whats the real benefit of this setup and I guess it's main benefit is you get the good mic straight into the camera without having to move from the sd to the nle and sync them in post right? The MixPre3 recordings acts like a backup (which is super nice to have). The way you make the headphones bt is insane...thats one thing Im gonna try too! But I guess if thats your only backup, that wont be ideal, right? I guess if the cam doesnt record audio, it wont record anything on the headphones since it doesnt get through when the mic input is not working.
Not to be a wet rag, but DJI mic 2 records locally in 32 bit float, and on the camera in 24 bit at all times. It’s freakin nice. On my FS5 I have the DJI recording in channel 1 and an on-camera shotgun recording in channel 2. So that’s 3 redundancies in total, with 2 different mics. I shoot 3-7 times a week and haven’t missed any audio yet.
Hi Calib, kan je voor mij (ons) een iPhone log falsecolor lut maken en zoals je voor de Sony camera’s hebt gemaakt. Dus 3 kleuren voor light/donker en huidskleur
Doesn't it drive you nuts turning on four Röde wireless every time you start, and then off at the end? I use an original wireless go, Zoom F6, Atomos or SmallHD monitor, and camera, and it kind of bugs to have to turn on five things, four of which are press and hold on/off.
Thanks for the inspiring video! At 6:25, do you get stereo output or mono signal from the Rode when connected to the headphones? I use two mics for ambient stereo field recording and when monitoring wirelessly the sound from a distance I get a merged mono signal only.
¡Hola! There is mistake. By recording serial, you got no sound, when the first transmitter got an error. For the next transmitter apply the same for the following recorders. Adiós, Rainer

His eyes have gone from 4k to 8k. Truly remarkable.

Came for Caleb's wild audio set up, stayed for DJ!! Heck yeah man! Congrats on the new gig!
I haven't seen a video of yours in quite a while, and holy hell you look great, dude! Also, still glad to see you just... attaching stuff to other stuff. Keep that up.
Caleb is the filmmaking equivalent of a LEGO master builder 👷🏻♂
brother is back x looking fit
I’m so glad you’re back. You’re my favorite.
My mind is figuratively being blown away by this setup. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how everything is connected, but that wireless headphone setup literally unlocked some mental blocks I've been having with my podcasts.
DJ, YES!! Great to see you guys working together, and great video, as always
every single one of these videos, I just wanna buy all that crap for the simple purpose of putting it together while having absolutely no need for any of it. 😂
It's like Legos for adults and it's so tempting just to buy it all and put it together.
Same lol this is why my Zoom meetings look AND sound so good.
😂😂😂😂
How i ended up with a sigma fp 🗿
@ me too
Legends has it that Caleb got eye surgery and removed his hair to open his 8th gate and achieve the ultimate minimal setup. That's dedication.
Caleb I love checking out the solutions you come up with and the simple way you break everything down in a super quality video. Thank-you for the time and dedication you put into sharing your discoveries with us!

Caleb you are the MacGyver of Camera gear (now the theme song is playing in my head…)
I really like your mic setup. It's so nice for being able to be able to have a dynamic recording workflow. Move to this area, move to that area, etc.
Glad you are back. I've been watching old uploads 😂
Your channel fuels my tinkering brain 😂 love everything you post!
Good to see you back.
I LOVE how you're always tinkering with gear to create awesome solutions. Very cool, Man. Thanks for the video.
Oh yes!!!! Yesterday, I was just looking to see if anyone had done something like this. And here comes this video!! CLUTCH
Great to see you back here in RUclips land. Looking well & sounding enthused about the work. Taking a break is good for you.
Your camera setup is amazing to see!!
Glad to see you back!
Great seeing you again, and LOVE the Wireless GO hack for creating wireless headphones! I’ve been needing that and have some Wireless GOs to use. Perfect!!! ❤
king of work station stand. great to see you upload
I love that you immediately address the glasses 🤣
Welcome back! We missed you. You’re the GOAT!!
Great seeing you again ❤ I loveeeeeeee your setups
"Hey wife, we don't any money for our vacation anymore. Caleb Pike started posting videos again."
Thanks for getting down to the absolute basics, Caleb.
The weakness with the MixPre series (I have the MixPre 6) is the battery configuration. Nifty solution you have.
Merci broh 🤝🏽👍👏🇭🇹

Lookin' good brother! I love how totally overkill the setup is. Perfection 😅
Another banger from Caleb. Love the new look and thank you for all tbe great content yiu provide.
Your set looks awesome and your audio is perfect
I really don't mean to embarrass you, but dude, you are looking amazing! Glad to have another video man. Thanks!

Yo it’s crazy how much glasses changes the way someone looks. Clark Kent and Superman would be legit😂😂

having all of your audio signal pass thru the rode wireless thing is hilarious.

Dang bro upgraded himself 😂. Endgame Caleb. No glasses and looking in shape now. Good stuff my guy!
Caleb looking amazing and MacGyvered a new filmmaking gear.
Soooo clean.
Looking great with out the glasses brotha ❤
Looking really fit, Caleb. Congrats on getting lean and healthy!
Everytime I see you, you look different. You've changed so much throughout the years. I never recognize you anymore. lol.
I've got a far scaled back version of this. This looks very refined. Will take some inspiration from this!
What model of teleprompter it is? 🎉
My guess is 16 inch ILOKNZI teleprompter. But connected monitor is harder to guess. I would say Liliput.
Great to see you make a video. This is overkill for me but still watched it 😂
Bro you look awesome!!!
What did i just watch!_::: 🤣🤣 This guy's other name is extreme. Coool stuff for sure.
YO!!!! He back!!! ❤ still takin us to school!
really cool. modded head phones for wireless monitoring is super cool!

The signal path a little bit complicated... but it works... and safe.
It's good to see you again!
What happened with your glasses?

Wow, you look so good! :)
Wow! did you fast bro? nice!
Time to dust off the Mix-Pre III.. I've been considering selling it but this is the perfect use for mine...

Merci bro kite jesus Beni amen amen ❤🤝🏽🙏🏽👍🇭🇹

Looks amazing! Have you thought about attaching a pop filter or using deEsser in post to reduce the pops and hisses?
I love your overkill setups! What lenses did you use on your A roll and B roll shots? They looked really nice.
With the new wireless go gen 3 you only need one transmitter as they have headphone monitoring built in
Where's your studio? One of the cargo holds of the Nostromo?
Pretty cool. I’d rather use a regular wired headphone and have it plugged into the mixpre, but the rest is sick.
what light is that 👀?
wow... you're basically unrecognizable from before (in a good way)
Oooh wee: a Caleb Pike audio rig build (rubs hands like Birdman)
Why not use the phones out on the mixpre for monitoring?
Hi Calib, kan je voor mij (ons) een iPhone log falsecolor lut maken en zoals je voor de Sony camera’s hebt gemaakt.
