Cornelius Quiring haha that’s awesome! i just took a peek and they look fantastic 🙌🏼 i’ve just started sewing myself so i can’t get enough of watching sewing videos. i’m only on my phone now so i’ll watch your full video when i’m home :)
Nice! Keeping the same tapered leg as the flat-fronts might be adding to the frump, rather than helping? The vintage version would probably be loose all the way down, giving a really straight silhouette; invisible calves. Loose at the thigh but tapering to the ankle maybe inevitably leaves either a little daiper-i-ness if you start the taper high, or hammer-pants-i-ness if you start the taper low.
You are right, I hadn't considered that either. I definitely don't want to be wearing a diaper. They could also look like those medieval time ballon pants. which we don't want. I will consider this with the next version ... if there are some. :)
Here's a video idea - 18th century highwaisted dropfront breeches, BUT... ...and here's the kicker. Out of blue denim. Old shapes meet the iconic and modern fabrics. Trendsetting AND potentially costube viral..... 😉 ....not to mention, that I'm dying to make a pair for myself, but I is too dumb to make them, without someone telling me how to. Duh.😇😁
Oh my, you just may be onto something here. Why not fully lean into this vintage thing? Really though, you got me with the going costube viral thing. RUclips has been recommending historic fashion channels to me lately and they're doing amazing numbers wise ... so we'd both be getting something out of this. Wha could go wrong?!
@@CorneliusQuiring Exactly! 😇😁 I've always LOVED the contrast of mixing historic shapes with modern materials, and I usually don't follow modern fashion houses, but I ACCIDENTALLY happened upon MOSCHINO fall/winter 2020 collection ( www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2020-ready-to-wear/moschino/slideshow/collection#1 ), and nearly had a heartattack considering how it hits the nail EXATLY on the head for me idea-wise (Jeremy Scott is clearly 'IN... THE... KNOW...' 🧘♂️🔮🧘♂️😄), but it's sadly only women's clothes... 😕 ...but, um... - it doesn't have to be!... 😉😁😀
Looking good C. Mixing up vintage pleat with vintage mobster. 😂Look at their pants from the 70’s. No belt loops and made with some type of a stretch fabric. I think it was mens golf attire. Bottom line. Man or woman. You’ll look great in pleats if your thin and you will wear them well. #truth
Thank you for the suggestion. I am heading to google images to do my research now! And yes pleats make all of us look our best and give us beautiful form. #truthforsure! :)
I think you need to make a mock up first with no side pockets, so you can taper the sides enough so it's 'tight' as pants are made today, and still be able to have perceivable pleats at the front, after you tapered enough, you simply add the pockets to your final pattern. simply adding extra fabric for pleats just won't do regarding fitting for modern pants, it will make your upper front roundish (as older generation pants usually are, like grandpa pants). Thicker fabrics are most suitable for these, I think. I've done some for me, with wool, but they are such a hassle to keep ironed, that I hardly wear them... a shame really.
You are absolutely right, what you described is exactly what I learned in the making process. Definitely grandpa pants. Thank you for the tips and for sharing your experience. It is a shame you're not wearing yours. I also got rid of all my wool pants ... I just don't wear them. And thank you for watching :)
Hello Mr. Cornelius, how is health? I what u to give measurement to all session u sew on clothes. It will make, ur sewing clear. it will be more understood to the beginners. U make pleating, U didn't talk about the measurement position of it's length and the distance from pocket.Well done, thanks!
They're overall just an off shape, a higher waist would have been more appropriate so they can hold on at your waist and hips but hang off you, that's what they were in the 30s-40s which is a veery comfortable time for menswear
I really like the pants Michael Jackson wears during his Billie Jean performances, or rather the second half of his live concerts but cannot find any with the right material or fit.
reason it looks off is because of possible drape issues and the fact that the pleats are flaring open without you being seated or it being tight around the waist. that isn't good.
@@CorneliusQuiring ha! The timing. Just watched your follow-up video where you pretty much addressed most of the issues. And I do agree, single pleats looks gorgeous on your body!
Oh wonderful. Well I appreciate you checking out my content! Thank you for the kind words on the final product. Still have them and love the single pleat. ☺
Totes appreciate watching your design process. Plus, your house plant game is incredibly strong 🌱
The plants say thank you ... as do I. Thanks for watching.
That trouser looks amazing on you without the need for any further adjustments.
You are kind. Thank you and thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
Great job! I love pleated trousers, so cool! and you look cuter than ever in them :-)
Well thank you. I appreciate the vote of support. Perhaps they're okay then. 🙃
You're such a cool person in every way
You are too kind :) Thank you.
Bro thank you so much. I will try to do it this summer!
Oh wonderful. I hope the ones you make work out for you!
Thanks! I was just about to cave in to the trend and make some for myself after poor fitting with storebought pants, so this is really helpful.
Glad to be of help and good luck with the pair you make. Hopefully they fit you well! Teach me if you figure it out ;)
I love your vibe! I think they would look so cool if you made a similar pair but much higher waisted with a more tapered waist and straight leg.
Well thank you. And yes, I did end up making another pair with your exact description: ruclips.net/video/hvfDBJTJvtA/видео.html

@@danieln2421 Oh fascinating. The embroidered denim is an interesting play on the traditional baroque style fabrics. Thank you got sharing. :)
You should sell these, I feel like someone (me) would buy them
Well thank you. That is flattering. It's worth considering.
I might try to go get Jean material and make something that is a better fit. I find it hard to get a pair of jeans that fit right.
I hope you do! It's rewarding when I get it just right :)
The problem with pleats is they only work with high rise pants, so they don't accentuate the crotch, nontheless nice job
Yes, that is true! I ended up making another pair, which are high-rise and reduced pleat size. I am happy with how they turned out!
@@CorneliusQuiring oh yes, just saw it, they came out great
@@AcousticJacob oh well thank you.
Hi am new to sewing ,didn't understand where exactly to start the pleats
Unfortunately, this video wasn't meant to be a tutorial, but more of a vlog style video of me learning how to make these pants.
Hey !! Beautiful Pant i love it !! Have you a pattern or basic ?

amazing job out there, does it take too long to make'em?
I've made a handle of these at this point so it's fairly quick for me. A couple hours or so.

@en1909s9iah thanks for this comment. Grandpa pants are exactly what I'm looking for.
I love the easy instructions in the video! What fabric material did you use in this video to make the pants?
I was resourceful with the fabric. It was a medium to heavy weight cotton from some old Ikea curtains :)
would these works for women too? i.e a not curvaceous one?
I imagine so. Ig you're slim, I would suggest doing thinner pleats and making sure you go nice and high-waisted, but other yes, definitely.

A good point!
How about a darker shirt with those pants. Not my favorite on you, but nice work. 😊
