this comes from someone who never sew something longer than 10 inches in his line. this dude learned all these, most likely in years from the 2d pages of a book (which is a challenge of its own), and lots of trial and error, experience... then he's willing to take the time and effort to record all that experience with all the camera setup, planning how to make the video, editing, graphic design, what to say, when to say it, writing etc FOR FREE! what a time to be alive! this is why i say, in this day and age, if you're a healthy person, you have no excuse to be an ignorant/arrogant. we have the world of knowledge in our palms. incredible, dude. you're amazing! i hope all your hard work pays off and you end being one of those youtubers with millions of subs.
Thank you for the kind words and appreciation of my efforts. It's always validating to hear my efforts are of use to others. All the best in your sewing projects and other endeavours!
I'm a fashion design major who had somehow never had to learn how to sew pants and oh my god you have been the light in the darkness of my midterm. I tried 4 different drafting methods before I found this video and not only is it the first one I could make work, they fit almost perfectly the first time. Thank you so much!!!
Just coming back here to say this: this is an amazing tutorial and draft. I drafted a pair of women’s trousers for myself, and I didn’t expect it to work out because I have quite the pair of hips. (Commercial patterns never turn out quite right on me) I’ve been proven wrong, and after a few minor tweaks I will make these up in a proper fabric that isn’t a sheer bedsheet! I’ve become quite jaded to the idea of never having pants that fit, but the pair I drafted off of this tutorial? Perfect! No weird wrinkles, digging, etc on the mock-up, and the crotch isn’t so high and tight that it’s trying to strangle me. Thank you so much Corn!
That is wonderful news. I am happy to hear that your draft fits you well and you are able to make them to your desires. Hopefully, the final pair made out of the desired fabric turn out well too. Thank you for watching and thank you for chiming in, it's always great to get feedback.
@@loubou4043 Yes! I made up the pants and they are great! They're pretty comfy and fit pretty well. My only issue with them is that the fabric I chose is pretty wrinkly and is a lint magnet, but the draft itself is wonderful!
I’m 18, 6’5 and 165 pounds. you have no idea how hard it is to find pants! i’ve decided that i need to learn how to make my own pants! thanks for this video, I’m taking notes on it and I’ll watch your next video too!
I just started learning to sew so i can make my own pants and I can not express how much i appreciate this video. And the time and effort you put into this. Thank you so much.
I'm still new to the whole sewing thing so I haven't discovered too many youtubers, but so far this is the most detailed and well explained video on pattern drafting I've seen so far by a long shot. All the others are just "add x amount of inches because that's how it's done, make this curve like this, because that's how it's done" But you have actually gone through the effort to explain why these things are done and how they're relevant to the actual trousers. Thank you for making this video, you are doing a great service to the world and I look forward to what you produce for the sewing tutorial if that's what you're making in the future
Well thank you! I am glad that you appreciate my efforts. What you described was exactly what I was attempting to do, so the fact that it has translated gives me joy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This was incredibly helpful for someone like me who is just beginning his journey into sewing. I am a short kinda stocky/chubby guy (5'8, 38ish Waist) with large thighs so it's very difficult to find pants that fit properly and impossible if I want a "skinny"/tapered fit. Got tired of no clothing brands making a 26 or 27 inseam in my size so here I am. Your GORGEOUS face in the thumbnail brought me here, the solid info and care put into the video made me stay. Thanks!!! ❤️
Well now just go and make my blush why don't you! ☺️ Thank you for the kind words and good luck in your sewing adventures. Your world of good clothing is going to blossom for you :)
Your teaching method is the best! I've been sewing for a couple years now, made some tshirts, button down shirts, minor adjustments on some pants and even a dress once. But pants always seemed nearly impossible, besides the two front and two back pieces, there is also the waistbands, pockets, and the front fly, never made sense in my head how to put all these together. There's just too many parts and too many calculations and details. I've searched a lot throughout RUclips, in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and even some Japanese sewing channels, and it was all very confusing, some were ok, but never gave me the feeling that I could do it, there was always something lacking. But man, your video is the best by far, you not only show how to make the patterns but also why they are made like that, and the part where you teaches how to make adjustments is totally on point, you made very clear every doubt that I had, and now I feel confident to finally take up on this challenge and sew my first pair of pants. Thank you very much and I hope to see much more of you in the future!
Oh my. You're kind words really make my efforts seem worth it. Thank you! I am happy that the way I do things has translated in an understandable way. The next few videos are mostly for me, but then I will most definitely be doing more tutorials in the future :) Thank you for sharing.
I've wanted to do this forever. I started sewing on Saturday (My wife bought me a waistcoat pattern to teach me with for my 30th b'day) - This will be my next project, if not maybe my second-next project (After a better waistcoat, once I've got the hang of it!) Thank you for your clear instructions. It's clear you've thought through what you're trying to communicate, and that you understand exactly why you're doing things, as well as when why you're doing things doesn't -really- matter because it's a rule of thumb to protect us from over-information! I can't wait to try this.
I am excited for you. There's joy in learning a new craft and you've got a world of potential ahead of you. Thank you for your interest and words of support for this video. Happy sewing.
This is quite possibly the best drafting tutorial I’ve ever seen. I genuinely think you might have just changed the entire way I make trousers, permanently.
Cornelius - I couldn’t thank you enough. I wish everyone who watches this appreciate how valuable this pattern cutting lesson is. I see people in the internet talking about buying pattern which I find it strange. But I understand why may be that’s the hardest part. Even the sewing lessons by others on RUclips on trousers aren’t helpful. Your videos are handsdown best. People go at lengths to explain crotch curve, crotch lengths etc in a dedicated video which gives us nightmare. You simply addressed the crotch issues by saying “let’s add some ease”. I owe you a ton. I have been making about a dozen of trousers since watching your videos. It’s hugely helpful
Oh that's wonderful news! I am happy that my method of doing things works for you. Thank you for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. That's a lot pants you've made. Congratulations :)
Thank you so much for this video! I watched it to help me draft women's pants and it worked. Your instructions and tips are invaluable! The pair turned out almost perfect and it was my first time sewing pants. And your personality is just a great bonus to the knowledge you share! Once again thank you!
Incredible Tutorial! I'm a complete beginner, never sew, got a machine, found this on here & thought let's give it a try. Just as a learning experience. And the sample actually fit 99%!! I actually used newspaper to make the drafts. It also took me about 10 hours to this point, but I love it! Thanks!
Congratulations on getting the pattern so close the first time around. Thanks for watching and happy sewing. You've got a whole world of potential ahead of you with sewing opportunities :)
Started sewing last week as I really wanted to make myself clothes. I’ve now completed my 3rd draft of pants and they’re the best fitting pants I’ve ever worn. About to start on my final piece with my good fabric. Thank you very much for the tutorial I’ve been watching all your vids😁
I am happy to hear it! Congratulations on making a pattern that fits you well and hopefully they turn out well! Feel free to share what you make, I always like to see people's creations. Thanks for watching.
Wow, you’re a really brave newbie to start with trousers! I’ve been dressmaking for 40 years with a long break in between because of kids and work commitments etc, I didn’t stop doing repairs, taking garments in and out, making curtains and so on but only really started again during lockdown to make scrubs, surgical hats, masks etc for frontline workers so it’s been a LONG time since I’ve made a pair of tailored trousers and the thought honestly terrifies me! I invested in a overlocker a couple of years ago too so I’m having to learn to master that as well as relearn everything I knew before, I don’t know if it’s my age, confidence level, lack of skill or all of the above but I’m doing so much seam ripping it’s ridiculous but I’m trying to be patient with myself even though it’s so frustrating but I’ll get there. I just miss the days of making clothes for my kids (although they’re obviously adults now and things need to be much bigger lol, I’ve made some tees, hoodies, joggers etc to practice working with knit fabrics) I miss whipping something for myself up in a few hours without needing a pattern and with the expert finishing I learned in my first job and from both of my grandmothers who inspired me to get started so I could make my first garment aged only 13. I hope your sewing journey is as fruitful and enjoyable as mine has been!
Thank you! I purchased a book for nearly 100 bucks and the step by step instructions are incomprehensible at times. Not to mention it was written with words and mathematical symbols. At times I'm trying to figure if they're saying A to B or A minus B. Doesn't help that I learn better by watching demonstrations. This is definitely a godsend and I'm gong to give garment making a whack again. Take a break from my quilting
Oh nice, I'm happy to hear that you appreciate my effort. Also, I'm happy to hear that you're keeping at it with the sewing. Between the quilting and the sewing, I imagine you'll have a wickedly wonderful wardrobe.
Just found your channel and I love it. I’m part of a sewing group so I’ll definitely be sharing your channel. Thank you for being such an AMAZING teacher, not every one is built for it. ❤
Yesterday I finished my first pair of trousers. I followed your instructions, and though-as you mentioned-I needed to make quite a few adjustments once the trousers were sewn together, I'm very happy. I learned a lot, and I know what I will do differently next time. This was a trial run as I'm making a suit for my brothers wedding...might have bit off a bit more than I can chew there, but I can't turn back now!
@@CorneliusQuiring Thanks mate! Trousers #2 have gone much quicker than the first pair, so that gives me more time to work on the blazer, which is very helpful.
@@CorneliusQuiring I finished it, just in time mind you! I'm happy with it, but I made more than a few mistakes and I'd definitely do a lot of things differently next time.
I was looking for an easy tutorial on how to draft patterns. When I saw you with the book in measurements of centimeters I said oh no not another video using metric system which I hate. I’m glad I kept watching. I was so happy to see you measure yourself in inches! I wanted to see you how you draft a pattern. I’ve watched so many not explain in detail where the line they draw came from. But you explain it really well!
Oh wonderful, I'm glad you think so. Thank you for watching and I'm glad to hear you stuck it through. I'm happy that my way of doing it made sense to you and was understandable.
You are so easy to listen too! You speak clearly and with lots of knowledge, a pleasure to learn from. Your patience to teach is remarkable. What a fine young man you are, kinda sweet too. Keep smiling ❤
Cornelius, this has been so helpful! I have some experience with women's trousers but have never made a man's pant/trouser before. I had to self draft a pair for my son, but got stuck on the extra pattern pieces. You have cleared it all up for me and I'm so thankful that you shared your knowledge. Merry Christmas and I hope to see more videos from you in the new year!
Wow.... Am do enlightened and impressed by this video. Down here in Nigeria I've been looking for patterns and teachers on how to make a well fit trouser piece.... But I couldn't. You video today gave me an answer to the questions I've been questing on for years . You're a genius Cornelius.... Looking forward to meeting with you one faithful day.... Thanks so much bro
Thank you for the kind words. I am happy to hear that this video is of help to you. I hope your pants turn out well. All the best wishes in your sewing projects.
Man, I hope your channel hits a million subs, your natural delivery is great. You’ve demystified pattern making for me! I’m going to check to see if you made a shirt or Jacket pattern tutorial!
I am happy to hear that my content was of worth to you. Also, if possible, can I switch those 1 mil subs to 1 mil views?! Views pay the bills :) haha. Thanks for the support and I'm working no the shirt pattern videos now.
I have just drafted my pattern and am amazed how easy and accessible you made the process. I am collecting a second hand sewing machine tomorrow and this is going to be my first project. I'm not messing about and jumping into making pants. Such is the nature of your videos, they make an otherwise intimidating project feel easy and straightforward. I've always wanted to make my own clothes and am very excited to start with thanks to these videos. Hats off to you sir
I'm very impressed with the effort put into this video, like around the alterations. The underlying methods for adjustments can save someone a great deal on material. Great idea on thrift store shopping. Very practical.
This is so incredible. I can tell just how much time went into creating all of the graphics and animation templates. I think your overall passion shows in the final product and that is so amazing to see. Plus, it is really helpful, I cannot wait to give making a pattern a try. I also was wondering, do you have any tips or resources for adding extra design elements such as pleats to pant patterns? I think you did a great job of showing how to draft the overall design, but how would you modify it for different styles? Either way, great job and keep it up!
Well thank you for the kind words and recognizing the effort that I put in. Your question has perfectly set up my plans for my channel moving forward. The goal for this video is to be a foundational cornerstone off which I build for future pants video. So for example, a high waist pleated pair of pants video will build off of this one. Much like you asked.
My favourite bit is Corn multiplying by a float and then giving the answer as a value with a fraction😊. Quirky yet fully understandable and another great tutorial.
Hahaha i was free balling pattern making for months, honestly looked into this because I was bored an now I know how to do this perfectly thanks to you. thank you very much 2 years later still helpful
Amazing! I am new in this sewing thing (2 weeks, I think) and what I’ve done so far has not been well fit. I am so excited to put all your tips on my process, they brought me hope 🙌🏽. Thank you so much! I will bee here soon telling you my experience! See you!
good luck. i hope it goes well for you.. my best advice. try out your patterns in the cheapest fabric you can find. just be sure that if your final garment should be from a woven fabric, use a woven for your test, if it should be made of a knit, your test garment should be of a cheap knit. mainly, if you are new to sewing, always make a toile or test garment. especially if you are self drafting.
I've been living on my own after a breakup, and I've found I'm really interested in embroidery, and also making my own clothes. So now I'm checking out videos to see how it's done and if it's something I'd like to do as a hobby. I hate buying clothes, costs too much when you're trying to save. I'd like to be able to order materials and make my own, with my own designs. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge, it's much appreciated!
Don't comment very often on here but I really liked how you explained the process and went through the ways to fix things. I took a class back in high school but felt they went to fast was a bit confusing. The way you explained it made it much easier to understand. Am definitely going to rewatch this again when I start my next project. Hope to see more videos form you in the future :D
Oh wonderful. I'm glad to hear my efforts brought you into the comments and thanks for chiming in. :) I hope your project turns out well for you when you get started. Thanks for watching.
I'm self taught and have been sewing for many years but I've never drafted pants from scratch before. I've always just cut up old pants for a pattern if I want to make new ones. Plus I mostly make costumes and corsets. But now that my sons are grown and I want to make cultural clothing for them, I want to learn this step. Your video is the first video I've found that starts from scratch, and I'm so excited to draft some pants for my boys! I hope I can follow these steps. ❤
WOW! This is an amazing tutorial! All of the fitting issues are explained so clearly, I wish I had this sooner! Even if the men's draft doesn't work for me, I can certainly use this for a friend. Here's to waiting for the shirt tutorial so I can finally figure out the sleevils! Edit: I finally got around to drafting this pattern for a friend, excited to see how it turns out!
Oh, wonderful, I am happy to hear that you've gotten some use out of it. Thanks for watching and for letting me know and thanks for your interest in my work.
I want to add to everyone else’s enthusiasm for your outstanding tutorial. My husband has absolutely NO ASS and I now can FINALLY make him some pants that actually fit! I can’t wait to see him all decked out in his first ever pair of pants that will look good on him. He deserves it and I could never have done this without your fine work. Do you have any suggestions for any tweaks you might use on women’s pants using your technique? Thanks again. You’re awesome!!!
May his pancakes sing! haha. I am happy to hear that you were able to make him a pair of pants that fit him well. As for women's pants. I might suggest taking out a bit of extra fabric in the front crotch area so it isn't baggy, but other than that, I think this method should work for you. Thanks for sharing and all the best with the pants you make for yourself.
Niiiice tutorial, man! Very well written, explained and executed!! Everything it's just spot on, but the vector diagrams are a luxury to chew on. Thank you.
Oh snap, just go and flatter me now bringing in your graphic design terms like vector diagrams. Jokes aside, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching / chiming in.
I loved enginnering drawing but sadly cutting pieces of metal is too damn expensive and tedious so I'm here trying to satisfy my urge to engineer something useful, and you Sir are pretty good cloth engineer. Also, my "hard to shop for" ass appreciates your effort! Well done and thanks for this :)
Well I am flattered and you made my Friday. I hope you're able to engineer a pair of pants that your makes your tuchus sing a song of delight. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Wow... thanks so much for this video. I have been fussing around trying to draft a pants pattern not knowing ANY of those steps and measurements. I feel totally enlightened now! Very cool.
I love this video Cornelius! You have a very clear, concise and patient manner. May I ask could you construct a pattern for ladies pants also? Thank you.
I am happy to hear you found value in this video. Thanks for watching and sharing. I've had a few women say that they used this same video for themselves and it worked out for them! Perhaps with some slight adjustments you could do the same.
I see that lots of others have said this, but I will reiterate: this is the best pattern drafting tutorial I have ever seen on RUclips. I don't feel overwhelmed with little esoteric measurements that arrent explained, and you give good tips such as getting cheap fabric from thrift stores for testing the fit.
“Thank you so much for this video! Your explanation and demonstration really helped me understand how to draft pants using my own measurements. I appreciate the effort you put into making it clear and easy to follow.”
For the algorithm :-) You did a great job explaining the drafting process, and a fabulous job explaining the pattern tweaks required to fix fit issues. Toiling over toiles for fit issues is the most un-fun part of sewing.
Thank you for your thankless work of feeding the almighty beast :) I am happy to hear you have good things to say about the video. Thanks for watching.
Great job! Watched a few of these, definitely my favorite how to on this subject. Can you please do a series on the building process of a new home, now.
This video is incredible! Having a body which does not fit the standard drafts well (either commercial or self drafted!) Your demystification of fitting adjustments is amazing! I discovered your channel today, and your passion and class has given me the motivation to go out and explore the fabric shops around my new home. I'd had a confidence knock from a rather abrupt move during lockdown and you have totally inspired me to get back into doing what I love...and also to ho the extra mile to get a good finish cos damn your stuff looks incredible. Thank you so much and I look forward to seeing what else you will be creating! Subbed and stoked for more!
Oh my, what kind words. Thank you very much and thanks for watching. I am happy to hear that you are giving it another go. That perseverance is keep and then you'll have everything you need to make exactly what you desire. Thanks again!
@@CorneliusQuiring I have just finished drafting and fitting the pattern. Your instructions are impeccable! They are the best fit pattern I have ever had for trousers and your instructions were easy to follow along with during the draft. The explanation of the relationship between the rise, ease and thigh was perfect and help me understand where I had been struggling! You are a genius! One more mock up with waistband and pockets this afternoon and tomorrow I will be buying some fabric to make some much needed trousers! Thank you so much!
Well consider my day made. I am so happy that it worked out well for you and am pleased to hear the way I think translated. If you do end up posting a photo of your final pants, please do tag me so I can see them.
Somehow or another, I have been interested in drafting, designing and sewing men's pants but haven't found a video to explain the methodology of design. So appreciative of this video as I now have more information on how to draft and design pants. Looking forward to watching additional videos and subscribing to the channel.
Oh wonderful, I'm happy to hear that my video was of use to you and happy to hear it was understandable. Hopefully, you make a pair and good luck with the make.
I never made Pants because I didnt think I could do it. I watched this Video and now I'm making Pants for my boyfriend. Already made two test pants and I am working on the third try. Just some small adjustments Thank you so much!
I saw the awesome editing and thought "Man...this will be another video from a pro and I wont understand anything" I WAS SO WRONG! I finally understand pants. Thank you so much! btw I am really thankful for the cm indication!
@@CorneliusQuiring im working on an outfit for september 1st church mass and start of univ. The pants were the last piece (Gosh im saying it like im already done. Nay, im just getting to the waistband right now, taking things slow, enjoying the process). Anyhow i made a waistcoat and a dress shirt for the occasion
I am thrilled to watch your video. I owned the same sewing machine till I was told its plastic gears broke. I slow the video to read the captions on screen to fully understand the steps you explain. It helps me understand the tissue I want to alter for myself. I am a woman without much derrière; your technique helps alot.

Haven't even watched the whole video yet but it's the best tutorial ever. Thanks so so much. You are a gifted teacher. I will sleep well knowing the trousers I make will fit perfectly! ☺️
Thank you so so much for this video! As many have already said, your instructional style was very easy to follow, well paced, and clear. I used this to make my first pair of shorts! Thank you for the instruction I'm very proud to have started learning this skill!
Bro. Cornelius, I just finished watching your tutorial on drafting pants. Your ability to take the complex and make the simplex is off the chain. As a prior Army instructor, having that ability allows everyone at any level to comprehend such detailed instruction. I'm grateful for you sharing this tutorial, now it's time to try and draft a pair of pants. I've watched several of your tutorials and will continue to do so. Thank you again. 🙏👍
Thank you so much for the kind words and thank you for watching. I hope your pants turn out well for you! Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself, it's always great to know who's watching my videos.
I finished drafting the front & back going step by step with your tutorial. I'll be cutting out the patterns and trying them on for fitting. I'm really grateful for your tutorial, so many videos people are just flying full head of speed. You took time out to cover a lot of instructions. 🙏👍 I'll let you know how they come out.
I am happy to hear you appreciate my video. Good luck in the process of making your pants and hopefully they turn out how you wish and I appreciate you sharing the process, it's always great to hear from folks such as yourself.
Thank you Prof for your clear, easy and simple explanation. It's within my reach, everything is clear: taking measurements, tracing and the details that come with it. It is clean, clear and easily remembered work.
I'm a year late to your video but jeez this is the most helpful video on drafting a pattern. I watched so many others over the years and was still not really sure why I was doing things and sort of just winging it.
For someone who as there to see my early efforts, this comment is meaningful. I lose track of where I am at sometimes, being in the thick of it. It's nice to hear from you.
When I was a kid, hearing 'CUT_IT_OUT!' meant I was up to mischief! When I hear you say, '... then cut it out', it means voila c'est bon! - and now we take our mischief to the next step!
This is the best pattern-making tutorial I have ever seen. I do have a book, Patternmaking for Fashion Design, but the way you explained it - it is just perfect. Thank you. :D Thanks to you I will go back to sewing :)
That's wonderful news, I'm happy to hear you're sewing again and I'm glad that my way of thinking makes things understandable for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I appreciate you making these videos, as someone who works outside and doing things extremely stressful for clothes, I see a need to make my own clothing as most of what I can buy wears out within a month or two
Sir, THANK YOU. I've never really understood pants and every pattern I have they always end up different or I mess up the rise, this makes so much sense now. This is coming from someone who makes costumes all the time and can sew traditional kimonos which also have quite a bit of math 🤣
Absolutely incredible. Thank you for the most in depth, comprehensive pants drafting video I have ever seen! You also have a great personality, I look forward to watching all your videos!
Thanks Corenlius! I've been working out for a long time and I've tried a few construction methods, none of which really worked well for me (big thighs and butt). I tried yours and only had to increase the darts in the back and take in the waist another 1cm, that's it! Everything else fits very well and comfortably so. I've even added the pleats as per your instructions in your other video without any problems. I'll probably combine the rest of the construction with some other ideas I've had like extending the waistband and splitting it down the back middle but we'll see about that.
In all honesty, this channel is by far the best i have been to. You are an absolute gem when it comes to explaining confusing topic in tailoring especially for beginners. Hope to see more content from you
Wow! Wonderful instructional video, thank you! I loved how you anticipated possible issues and gave illustrated remedies, showing adjusted patterns and explaining fully! Brilliant!
Great job, i did learn how to adjust a commercial pattern, shorter 4 inches than petite pattern, very high hip very close to waist, so waistbands dont work. After watching your video i am going to try draft from scratch. I do have to add quite a bit of height at back to cover curvy butt and for waist to sit level. Since my widest hip is so close to waist, i have found a curved dart works best. What i have learnt was adjust one at a time, walk the edges, after each adjustment, makes sense. Will see how i go. Thanks heaps, great teacher and for showing why you do things, it only further helps with understanding.
Literally the best pattern making video I've watched on RUclips. And I've watched a few. Very intricately detailed; answered all the questions in my mind about pants. Very well done. Thank you!
What a great video. I intend to buy the book but having made nothing more complicated than a t-shirt before now this video will be a great primer and has probably already saved me tons of wasted time. Thanks again for all your work on this.
That is wonderful news. I am happy to hear that my efforts have been of help to you. Also, thanks for sharing, it's always great to get your kind of feedback.

so does that mean i can make women's trousers/jeans with this way of measuring? thanking u in advance
I can only imagine. I have full faith you can figure out how to make pants for yourself that fit just so!
Yes we sewing people do know. We are here for you.
I just started learning to sew so i can make my own pants and I can not express how much i appreciate this video. And the time and effort you put into this. Thank you so much.
Well I am happy to hear you appreciate my efforts and I hope things go well for you. Happy sewing!

I'm still new to the whole sewing thing so I haven't discovered too many youtubers, but so far this is the most detailed and well explained video on pattern drafting I've seen so far by a long shot.
All the others are just "add x amount of inches because that's how it's done, make this curve like this, because that's how it's done"
But you have actually gone through the effort to explain why these things are done and how they're relevant to the actual trousers.
That was the best and straightforward tutorial I've ever seen.
I'm from Iran and it helped me a lot to make patterns.
I'm glad to hear it. Happy sewing.
The next few videos are mostly for me, but then I will most definitely be doing more tutorials in the future :)
Thank you for sharing.
I've wanted to do this forever. I started sewing on Saturday (My wife bought me a waistcoat pattern to teach me with for my 30th b'day) - This will be my next project, if not maybe my second-next project (After a better waistcoat, once I've got the hang of it!)
Thank you for your clear instructions.
Oh boy, glad to hear it :)
I absolutely love that there is no fluff in your video! You make things so easy to understand! :)
I am glad that you were able to get something out of my content. Thanks for watching.
Oh wonderful, I'm glad it helped and good luck dialling in the little details. Thank you for the kind words. Happy sewing!
I just miss the days of making clothes for my kids (although they’re obviously adults now and things need to be much bigger lol, I’ve made some tees, hoodies, joggers etc to practice working with knit fabrics)
I miss whipping something for myself up in a few hours without needing a pattern and with the expert finishing I learned in my first job and from both of my grandmothers who inspired me to get started so I could make my first garment aged only 13.
I hope your sewing journey is as fruitful and enjoyable as mine has been!
Thanks for sharing your story Rhonda and thanks for watching. You're sewing again and that's wonderful.
Well, say hello to all the fine folks in the group, on behalf :) Also, thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching.
You've got this! Bite off more thank you can chew ... then chew :)
@@CorneliusQuiring Thanks mate! Trousers #2 have gone much quicker than the first pair, so that gives me more time to work on the blazer, which is very helpful.
nice!

You are very kind! I'm glad to hear you appreciate my content and thank you for watching. Happy sewing.
Oh wonderful! I am happy that my content has been valuable for you. Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts. Happy holidays to you too.

Oh wonderful. You have a world of potential ahead of you to make what your heart desires. 😊 I look forward to hearing how it goes for you.
good luck. i hope it goes well for you.. my best advice. try out your patterns in the cheapest fabric you can find. just be sure that if your final garment should be from a woven fabric, use a woven for your test, if it should be made of a knit, your test garment should be of a cheap knit. mainly, if you are new to sewing, always make a toile or test garment. especially if you are self drafting.
Great advice!
I've been living on my own after a breakup, and I've found I'm really interested in embroidery, and also making my own clothes. So now I'm checking out videos to see how it's done and if it's something I'd like to do as a hobby. I hate buying clothes, costs too much when you're trying to save.

This is the best pattern-making tutorial I have ever seen. I do have a book, Patternmaking for Fashion Design, but the way you explained it - it is just perfect. Thank you. :D
Thanks to you I will go back to sewing :)
That's wonderful news, I'm happy to hear you're sewing again and I'm glad that my way of thinking makes things understandable for you. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I appreciate you making these videos, as someone who works outside and doing things extremely stressful for clothes, I see a need to make my own clothing as most of what I can buy wears out within a month or two
I'm glad to hear it. I hope you're able to make yourself some super durable clothes.
Sir, THANK YOU. I've never really understood pants and every pattern I have they always end up different or I mess up the rise, this makes so much sense now. This is coming from someone who makes costumes all the time and can sew traditional kimonos which also have quite a bit of math 🤣
Sounds like you make some fun pieces. I am glad to hear that my content was able to offer you some clarity. Thank you for watching.
Absolutely incredible. Thank you for the most in depth, comprehensive pants drafting video I have ever seen! You also have a great personality, I look forward to watching all your videos!
I'm glad to hear it and thanks for watching!
That's awesome. I'm really glad to hear it and I encourage you to make them uniquely your own with your own ideas.
It's really hard to find pant patterns (for men) that fit (and are stylish and not cargo or jogging pants...). So I really appreciate that tutorial
I am happy to hear this video was of use to you. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I’ve found this videos and u can’t express how much it’s enjoyable to watch thank you so much
Oh wonderful, I'm glad you think so! Thanks for watching and I'm glad to hear you appreciated it.
In all honesty, this channel is by far the best i have been to. You are an absolute gem when it comes to explaining confusing topic in tailoring especially for beginners. Hope to see more content from you
oh wonderful, I'm happy my approach works for you! Thanks for watching and happy sewing.
Wow! Wonderful instructional video, thank you! I loved how you anticipated possible issues and gave illustrated remedies, showing adjusted patterns and explaining fully! Brilliant!
Im' glad to hear you appreciated my efforts. Happy sewing.
Hopefully you are able to create a pattern that fits you perfectly.
thanks for making this! My boyfriend has long legs and unusual dimensions. This video is a huge relief.
Oh wonderful, I am glad to hear it was of worth to you. Good luck on all your sewing projects!
Literally the best pattern making video I've watched on RUclips. And I've watched a few.
Very intricately detailed; answered all the questions in my mind about pants. Very well done. Thank you!
Oh my, I feel humbled. Thank you for the kind words and I am glad to hear that my efforts are translating.
@@CorneliusQuiring most definitely
Very clear way of drafting and the stitching and clear explanation, thank you. Great effort
I am happy to hear it! Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
I've watched 1/4 of this video and I am already in love with you. Like ready to propose on the spot. thank you for being such an incredible teacher!
Take good care of me and I'll forever be true!
