    Oooh, the magic pants pattern! This may have broken my sewing slump. I've had so.... much... weight-fluctuation this year, but I'm so tired of making pants with bunched elastic. I've been on a hunt for pants with tabs, and I think these are the ones

    • @BESPOKEEDUCATOR
      @BESPOKEEDUCATOR  23 дня назад

      Glad I could help! 💪
      There is also an option to put a double-sided tab (like on waistcoats) at the back of the trousers, above the center back seam.

    Hi! Beautiful video and instructions!
    A question: how do you know how much the side tab should be tightened first when sewing it on the trouser?

    • @BESPOKEEDUCATOR
      @BESPOKEEDUCATOR  11 месяцев назад +4

      Thank you!
      When you sew them on, just put the tab inside the buckle without any tightening, let`s say in 'a relaxed state', and then if a client needs tightening he pulls them a bit on both sides (and hopefully relaxes them again at the end of the day).

    Great clarity and useful too. Have a question. Nowadays I find an elastic adjustable waist in readymade trousers. How would you compare that to this kind of buckle adjuster? Thanks.

    • @BESPOKEEDUCATOR
      @BESPOKEEDUCATOR  5 месяцев назад

      Hi, thank you for the question.
      Trousers with half-elasticated waistband are usually called 'Yoga Pants\Trousers'.
      They may have a cut and all the attributes nd finishing of classical trousers but the back part of waistband is made with elastic to fit most waists without any additional help like side-adjusters (unlike stiffer classical waistbands that sometimes have to be tightened with belt or adjusters\tabs).
      Sometimes such trousers go with beltloops. But if you have elastic waistband, there is no need in adding side-adjusters beacause they will be literally pointless, the ribon does all the work.

    What is the interlining you use for the adjuster and what did you use for the waistband?

    • @BESPOKEEDUCATOR
      @BESPOKEEDUCATOR  5 месяцев назад

      It is non fusible interlining of medium stifness.
      You can use fusible one if you want.
      If you can`t find non fusible one, you can take a piece of lining and heavily starch it (with regular or spray starch) it should be close in stifness to the interlining.
      And whenever you are at a sewing store, buy small amounts (0.5 meter\yard) of different non fusible interlinings to find the one you like.
      For this waistband I used canvas (220 grams per meter)

    Beautiful work as always! Is there a reason for your choice of non fusible interlining over fusible?

    • @BESPOKEEDUCATOR
      @BESPOKEEDUCATOR  Год назад +2

      Great question.
      Mostly, I`m just showing off. Just kidding :)
      1. The video is the part of the course where we haven't used a single fusible, just for the sake of showing this type of technology & finishing. It is always easier to switch to the fusible technology one with this information, than the other way around.
      2. The non-fusible I'm using is rather stiff, so it allows me to use it as a guideline for turning the edges, which is convenient and because of its stiffness the finished edges will stay sharp and crisp.
      3. It is totally okay to fuse some small and medium parts of the garment if you find it more convenient. Honestly, there is not so much of a difference, just a matter of style and preference.
