I was into Tom Scott and Dave Grusin after watching Baretta on my father's tv in 1975. I remember taping Tom's scores right from the speaker to the cassette recorder's mic! Thanks for uploading a nice video of the JAMZ days.
@rzadka holy crap you aren't kidding! I've never seen anyone use the pitch bender so well. It sounded more like a guitar than a keyboard. I thought his whole solo sounded very guitar influenced. Freaking great!
LOL.. yes but most jazz guys get cold wearing kilts?.. All musicians should transpose this melody to all keys.. I love Katherine Ross in the graduate and knife fight? butch Cassidy lol
Why hasn't anyone mentioned the band that were the original creators of this tune? The one and only AVERAGE WHITE BAND...!! Check out another of their classic tunes: Cut The Cake. 5 blokes from Dundee, Scotland, who had 2 mega albums: AWB and Cut the Cake, and a string of singles between 1974-1980. Pick up The Pieces was a multi-million selling instrumental for them and a dance floor fave world wide during the latter half of the 70's...! Interesting fact - they are the 15th most sampled band in music history...the list of performers who have sampled their music is a veritable who's-who. of modern music!
Don’t think so bro WHO’S PLAYING WHO TOM Knows A lot of Musicians that’s Called Respect among Musicians and Friends Enjoying Great MUSIC. Vegas musician!!
Un gran saludo y felicidades por compartir su música y su partitura de sax tenor q dios los acompañe siempre
I've came here to listen to Tom Scott, but the one who smashed me with damn great solo was guy on keyboards, that was amazing!

I heard Tom Scott do a Latin-flavored version of this at Irvine Meadows in the early 1990's which was fun. I like this version, too.
can't go wrong with a rhythm section like this one.
Groovy The bass plays it there 🤔🤔?? is funny ..interesting // superb solo guitar / very good version as well of this legendary song !!

Hustle man on the MARTIN show makes a funny reference to this song
on one of the episodes.
Drummer looks like a young Carlos Santana

Tom is fantastic, but he looks like a high school Science teacher.
What a pity for the sampled brass, with a true brass section it would have been a masterpiece.
Is the drummer Carlos Vega?
No his last name was Friday
that is s mean
I love Tom Scott and love this tune. The rhythm section is smokin'.
But I just can't deal with the fake keyboard horn section. Ruins it for me. Sorry.
Everyone great Sept the sax player. Rather hear Candy D.
FTW???
I hope your sense of hearing is one day restored.
Yes your right, he is not great, he's a legend. Not only a marvelous Sax Player, he's too a outstanding composer und arranger .
