    Joey, you were my music hero since I was a little child. I remember seeing you for the first time in TV with Elvin Jones and Birelli Lagrene - this concert I recorded on VHS. I cannot count how many times I've seen that concert. Seeing you live in Prague was one of the best musical experience I've ever had - and I still have your signed photo framed. You will be truly missed. You have a very special place in my music heart - I love you, Joey. It is hard to say goodbye - so rather see you later.

      Joey is one of a very small breed of newer-generation players who have kept the Hammond B3 alive. If it wasn't for him and the likes of Barbara Dennerlein and James Taylor, the B3 would be struggling and yes, these guys are all white and from different countries. It's not about your colour or where you're from - just about how you play and whether it sounds lovely. Joey has soul and is totally at one with his instrument.

  • @florianwolf9380
    @florianwolf9380 8 лет назад +17

    • @johntechwriter
      @johntechwriter 3 года назад

      I’m curious whether this “new” B3 has actual tone wheel generators. I’m guessing not - they’d cost a fortune to manufacture. Then again, the starting price for a genuine, 50-year-old B3 is $10,000 and the sky is the limit.

    I heard this playing and I didn't know who it was. I haven't heard this kind of soulfulness since the 80s back in Connecticut when organ players were burning it up so, I had to run over to my cell phone to check and see who was performing on RUclips, but I'm not surprised to know it's none other than , Joey defrancesco keeping the roaring sound of Hammond B3 organ alive..
