It’s so cool to hear these guys playing before their styles had really codified. You can hear the seeds of all the things that would become these guys’ signature musical devices
Just noticed that almost every idea Redman plays is a response to an idea from Mehldau. Mind blown.

What a great crop of young musicians the 90's gave jazz. Christian was only 22 years old....Sixteen years later, each of these young lions has become a major force moving the music forward. Each has his own unique voice. Jazz is in good hands.

I saw this quartet when they played at State College back when I was studying. Every single one of these guys was burning, but Mehldau was clearly the one that stood out. Watching this again is such a privilege.
