    looks like a rebranded "Redarc" controller.

      @BullGearOffRoad  Год назад +1

      I believe you are correct.. I noticed my Bronco looks exactly like the redarc as well.

    • @tylermacconnell217
      @tylermacconnell217 Год назад

      The Mopar controller behaves exactly the same way as well…no lights unless the trailer is connected, red light when brake is applied. On the redarc the base light is blue not green, and it gradually changes from blue to pink to red as you brake harder. I believe Redarc is making this controller at least for Mopar.

    There are mirrors for your jeep

    The aftermarket clamp on mirrors work okay, but you're right--it would be nice if they had a better solution.

    Did you ever end up relocating the 12v outlet?

      I did, I ended up putting one under the drivers seath next to my goal zero and one behind the back seat so I can plug my fridge in. I'll do another walkaround video soon.

    Is there a way to manually use just the trailer brakes?
    Incase the trailer started throwing the pickup around, just using the trailer brakes to straighten out..
    Thank you

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  2 года назад +1

      Yes, that's what the center button does.. It's really used for emergency purposes but you could technically use it for that as well but slowly press on it so that it does not lock up your breaks. I would say use with caution.

  • @markdvorak3661
    @markdvorak3661 3 года назад +1

    First thanks for your videos. I find all your videos useful when considering and then installing mods. I just finished the brake controller and found it to be mostly straight forward excepting mounting the controller box (part D) and the small patch of insulation (part N). With the controller box I spent a lot of time figuring out positioning, proper mounting holes, and wire loom routing necessary to get it right. Part N I still have not figured out. The Hieroglyph instructions don't always give the full picture necessary for installation.

    What about the ON/OFF switch in the middle of the brake controller? What does that do?

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 года назад

      Well, I happened to hit while coming to a stop and it locked up the brakes so I think it's the emergency brake. ha

    • @joshuaroberts1324
      @joshuaroberts1324 3 года назад

      It's a brake hold. May have other functions but the brake hold is super useful when offroading. It can help you hold that off-road trailer in place when you need to simpy with the push of that button.

      @BullGearOffRoad  2 года назад +1

      Hi Chris, did you have the tow package from the factory? You can also bypass going to the dealer by getting the zAutomotive programmer which will do a lot more than just enable the brake controller. www.zautomotive.com/product/z_tzr_jlm/#camera-kit

  • @DavidWaldrip
    @DavidWaldrip 3 года назад +2

    Super informative video! Thanks for sharing!
    1. Someone told me that there is a harness in the dash that the brake controller connects to and some Gladiators didn’t have this from the factory. R you familiar with this? Is the only part you needed the brake controller itself?
    2. What is the length of your Bambi trailer?

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 года назад +2

      Yes, that is correct. If you didn't purchase it with the tow option.. you may not have the harness. But if you got the tow package it should have that harness.
      The Bambi trailer is the 19 foot version: 19CB

      @@BullGearOffRoad Thank you for the response. I’ve been getting conflicting reports on whether or not I have the controller.
      I will be towing a 20FT caravel. Weighs about 3900lbs. I’m guessing that is similar to the Bambi 19 so I should be good to good.
      Thanks again! Great video.

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 года назад +2

      @@DavidWaldrip I guess the best way to find out if you already have your gladiator is to just reach underneath to see if its there. I like that Caravel, much nicer upgrades from the Bambi series. Safe travels.

      @@BullGearOffRoad Could you help me with these three questions?
      1. Do you use or feel the need for sway bars?
      2. What lift/tire size do you have and what length of “drop” does your hitch have?
      Trailer looks perfectly level with your setup.
      3. Does the trailer squat your truck down much?
      I know the 20 ft Caravel is about 450lbs heavier than this trailer.
      Thank you.

      @@DavidWaldrip
      1. Not so much, it tows good with the 19' but a good anti-sway and weight distribution would improve the ride for sure.
      2. I have a 2 inch Mopar lift, 3/4" leveling kit up front and a 5-1/4" drop hitch.
      3. Not that much but I haven't had it fully loaded with gray water and gear yet. I do plan to put a 3/4" Daystar lift in the rear to help with the drop and I plan to also put a bed rack and RTT soon.

    Can you regulate the sensitivity of the trailer brakes with the center button or is it an all or nothing kind of thing?

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 года назад

      no, that's the emergency brake. Don't hit it while driving.. I happened to do it while I was coming to a stop and the brakes locked up.

    • @duvinclunk
      @duvinclunk 3 года назад +1

      @@BullGearOffRoad Most brake controllers have a "plunger" style lever that allows you to apply gradual/manual activation of the trailer brakes without the vehicle brakes being applied. This is useful during set up. I was hoping it was pressure sensitive to allow the same rather than just being a 100% button and locking up the trailer brakes.

    • @BullGearOffRoad
      @BullGearOffRoad  3 года назад

      @@duvinclunk You know, that's an excellent point.. I wonder if it's supposed to work that way and mine just got stuck.. I couldn't get it unstuck either. I had to pull over and remove the harness from the trailer and plug it back in for it to release... Maybe that's why the factory stopped shipping for a while. I will have to look into that.
