    You are very knowledgeable, and your video helped me with my homework! One note for you though: in every technology's description, you used words like "they're doing amazing things with this technology" and "these create incredible prints"... but if you say this about all of them, you just sound infatuated, and it doesn't inform us of anything. Perhaps either give us examples of these amazing things they're doing, or calm down a little? Haha anyway, again great video, I'll likely keep coming back for more as my class continues.

    I am an architecture student and we use Rhino cad software, how does that compare to other programs that you have used?

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  7 лет назад

      Rhino's got a lot going for it. Semi-parametric, but also very free flowing. I haven't used it, but by all reports it's more inuitive than Blender, though Blender sets that bar really low, and it's good for those coming from a CAD background, and not unreasonably expensive. That said, without 1000 hours in it I don't know how it compares to my usual toolset in the end.

      I find that it is amazing in terms of how accurately I can translate, for example, a sketched idea and generate a cad drawing for export. I was wondering more so what you have heard about its compatibility with slicing programs.

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  7 лет назад

      I suspect it's comparability is the same as any other CAD program. it can export an STL or other file format that the slicer can use.

      Thanks a lot. One last question. I will definitely be using this printer for years so Im looking at the Robo R1 Plus because of its extrusion improvements from the R1. The printer has its own slicer but doesn't call it a slicer, and it prints directly from an stl file. Seem fishy or are you confident it's worth the price?

    What can I use to print a aluminium gears and small parts with high precision and smooth surface?

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  4 года назад

      3d printing aluminum? Right now, the only reliable option is a printer that melts metal powder with an industrial laser and costs$100k+. Bit its good enough that they use it to make airplane parts.
      The other option is you use a 3d print to do lost 'wax' casting. How do you feel about melting metal?

    Where is FDM in the chart. The most common type of 3d printer.

    Which 3D prnting technology would you recommend for a small company for 3d printing polymer packaging for consumer goods? Thank you for your video!

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  4 года назад

      Not really sure I understand the application. I would think that would be a better use case for a cutter or vacuum former.

    Glad I found your channal. You certainly are a wealth of knowledge for 3D printing. Do you own a Delta style printer as opposed to Cartesian. What is your opinion on them? Have you made a video on that yet I am missing somewhere?

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  7 лет назад +1

      Delta printers are pretty and mathematically interesting. However, I don't see that they offer any advantage over other styles of printers either in terms of speed, capability, or space consumption.

    • @consciousenergies
      @consciousenergies 7 лет назад

      How about in terms of functionality and modification?

    • @3dpprofessor
      @3dpprofessor  7 лет назад

      Again, no major advantage. There are things about deltas, like the fact that the movement system is basically the same for all motors just multiplied around, that might make them slightly easier to work on. But overall any advantage they have is balanced so it becomes a wash. Still, deltas are pretty cool, so the decision can go either way.

      Sweet! I appreciate the insight. Keep the great videos coming and I am building a Delta right now. I really considered the Monoprice Select... but my buddy Russ Gries (RWGResearch) was a great influence over 5 years ago with his Delta. Anyways, I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. I hope ypu are able to enjoy every present moment to its fullest. 😁
