People are so unique and funny and creative... the yard art, the bells, the giant replicas of things we find interesting. I adored the fire-breathing Dragon and the Sea-Shell Chapel was lovely. Thank you, Wiseguy!
I grew up and still live between I70 and US 40 in mid Hendricks county. I have been to all the locations that you showedthere. My sister and I used to look for the catsup bottle in Collinsville. We knew we were getting close to my dad's family in Illinois and Missouri. Thanks for sharing
Have you been to Totem Pole Park in Foyil, Oklahoma? Just off art 66 so I figured so- we just love all of the things that are not on the interstate! State highways are the best! Love the fire breathing dragon!
OK, that was your best video yet. Love seeing the different small town attractions. That dragon is probably my favorite! What was yours, if you could only see one what would you recommend?
Thanks! Experiencing the gravity hill was certainly unique. The House of Bells was definitely crazy. I thought the Dragon would breathe bigger fire haha. And Chain of Rocks Bridge is great too!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy You're right, I expected more from the dragon. I guess I'm just a more interactive person. I enjoy looking at the art, at the structures, but I love having a chance to interact with something. I love the idea that I can make one of those giant things do something. I think that is why I like it. The old road is my second favorite. Again, it's the interaction. The fact you get a chance to actually drive on that old road instead of just look at it is fun.
I LOVE your videos, but a correction. When you were talking about the National Road and US Highway 40, you called it "I-40" I-40 is an interstate that goes from Wilmington, NC to Barstow, CA. US HIGHWAY 40 goes from Baltimore MD to San Francisco, CA (I think). It originally went from Baltimore to Indianapolis, but was later extended to California. I have seen many RUclipsrs confuse the Interstates with the US Highways. Normally you are VERY ACCURATE and you give milage and your videos are greatly enjoyed and appreciated.
Thank you very much! I’m very interested in the National Road history and hate that I made that mistake. One of those things when you’re filming without a lot of preparation haha. I appreciate the correction!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy Just wanted to point that out, but don't feel dumb, I was talking to a PROFESSOR who was giving a tour of a historic home on US Highway 40 and I mentioned how we drove on the old cobblestone part in Ohio (one there too) and he said, YES 40 ends at the Arizona California line. SHEESH! That is Interstate 40. And he only had to know about ONE highway. I find that you are very well prepared!
Did you already know about these places and you had made a plan to film them or did you take a road trip and stumble on all of these finds? I wonder what the history of the Mayberry Cafe is. I know the show wasn't based in Indiana. Did they just use the name and piggy back off of the show's fame?
Yes I did a little bit of research to find them. There’s a website called Roadside America that was helpful for finding oddities. Not sure about Mayberry. I think they just did it for business, but maybe there’s a connection 🤷🏼♂️
Gravity Hill: There is a place in Texas like that. You stop at a set of railroad tracks and it's almost like you get pushed off of the tracks. It's an optical illusion but the legend goes that a bus carrying children was hit by a train at those tracks, the children were killed and the ghosts of those children remain there pushing stalled vehicles off of the track so that it never happens again.

I love finding those oddball things in small towns! Wish there were more of them today! That’s why I like to take the backroads 😊
Another winner! My grandpa ran the Pennsylvania railroad station in Effingham. Mom grew up there.
Nice! Interesting town and day trip!

Very fun! Always good to get off the main highway and explore the quirky places!
Thanks! Glad to see ya cover the Fayette County area! 😍
6:11 I loved the idea of turning on this song
I wanted to have that authentic feel of driving down that road 😊
@@TravelwithaWiseguy I’ll be starting my road trip tomorrow from AZ to NY
Thanks for the content
@@Chaim2 Have fun and be safe!
Thank you. I drive that way at least twice a year to Indiana and never knew about these things. I will make sure to check them out.
Awesome! Some cool stuff not far off the Highway!
Another beautiful awesome video, I love them, please keep them coming. Had to beng watch them.
Thank you so much! I do 1-2 videos a week so keep looking for new ones. Appreciate the support!
Thanks John! Gravity hill was crazy😧. I enjoy the old roads & bridges best.
Thank you for watching! Lots of fun stuff to find on the backroads!
Oh my goodness, I’ve driven by that catsup bottle many times! Never imagined it would end up in one of your videos 40 years later. That’s crazy.
Haha nice! Love that quirky roadside attraction!
Representing The Valley shirt. Like it. Go Salukis!
Haha thanks! I thought it would be appropriate for that portion of 71 😊
Love seeing the world's biggest things!
Love the new format but nothing wrong with the old one either. Oh the chain of rocks bridge. One of my top 10 66 places.
Thanks! Yeah just mixing it up. Back to some ghost towns next week 😊 Chain of Rocks Bridge is really great I agree!
Oh love your Valley shirt. That is old school :)
I thought it was appropriate for that area 😂

Yes I made a quick stop there when exploring Route 66 in 2020! Cool place!
Wonder what "neat creatures" are. Love the oldy music!
I delivered right next to that cross for 20 years.
Pretty cool area! And that cross is insanely huge!
Gravity hill was pretty cool...
Very strange! I guess there are several of these across the country, but this was my first time seeing one!
@@TravelwithaWiseguy I have been on gravity hill in Morgan county also. It works

@@TravelwithaWiseguy Wow, that site you said you looked up is interesting.
Yes it is! Great resource!
We drove I-70 from PA to UT, on our move to Las Vegas. Lots of nothing, but interesting in spots, rounding the curve to seeing the KCMO Arch.

Great video brother! I just got back from St. Louis today anyway and I'm from the Indianapolis area
Very cool!
Best way to make the i70 drive interesting is to take Old National Road Route 40 from Vandalia to Brazil and on to Ohio
Where are the rocks on the chain of rocks bridge?
I think it refers to the rocks below the bridge 😊

I’ve heard of a few of them around the country, but this was the first I’ve actually experienced. The Texas one sounds interesting! What a story!
