while i’d never call it my favorite track, i do genuinely like ice ice outpost. Unique theming that isn’t just “ice”, great music, and tricky shortcuts that feel very satisfying to pull off. i may be the only fan on this track smh 💔
I like the concept of Ice Ice Outpost but it feels that Nintendo pulled back. I remember the first time I played it, at the beginning there's a chunk of ice that falls off and sinks in the ocean. I thought to myself, "So, this will be like Grumble Volcano but on Ice, with each cup having pieces of track melt underneath you." Nope! Not at all. I wish the track would force you to drive on the ice. What's the point of the theme being ice when it mostly never factor into the experience?
Perfect way to send of the past 9 and a half years of Mario Kart 8. Truly a ridiculous amount of content when you see it all lined up like this, even though like 20% of them are city tracks lol. Love to see the Dragon Driftway love. Piranha Plant Cove really caught me off guard too, genuinely great track with terrific music. I think I love Cheap Cheap Beach so much because it's the closest we'll get to the Wuhu Island tracks coming back (although honestly I'm kinda glad them didn't return as they would have looked very visually basic) Also you should start ranking everything relating to grilled cheese sandwiches from this point on
To be fair compared to the other tracks, its really not all that. Sure it can be fun and chaotic, but its just a simple loop and some may find it annoying with 11 racers you got to worry about.

You loved it in Wii. I liked it in Wii cause of the challenge, 8 removed the challenge making it boring. No amount of pretty lights and banger music can change that.
What I loved about Choco Mountain on DS was that a well timed mushroom could bump someone from the top track to the bottom of the big u-turn around the lake and make them go from 1st to last - that was the defining feature of that course for me and I'm super bummed it didnt return.
Agreed!! One of the thrills of Choco Mountain in the N64 version was racing through that curve knowing that if you fell, Lakitu would not return you back to your spot. You would have to claw yourself from last place. Removing that from this latest iteration removes any sense of danger from the track, especially because the track design centers on that gimmick. Yes, Choco Mountajn could be frustrated if you fell to the lower part of the track, but it is also what made it memorable or shall we say infamous.
My top 3 is Bone dry dunes Tick tock clock Moonview highway With ice ice outpost and riverside park as strong contenders Imagine just how hard it is to love bone dry dunes I can’t go through a ranking video without hearing someone say it sucks lmao

Its original and unique, and the space station is cool. We didnt need ANOTHER rainbow road thats just the road and nothing else, like double dash and DS

I get that 3DS feels natural and much more amazing in concept, but people love the places on that track that dont take place on the point of the track itself. Wii U does that as well, and they feel so similar in concept, which is why i dont even get the hate of Wii U's Rainbow Road. It feels fresh, beautiful and honestly pretty fun. I get that it doesnt feel magical and feels manmade, but thts what makes it so cool, man MADE the track.
I know a lot of people had reservations about the Booster Course Pass but personally I really enjoyed the journey to Mario Kart 9. 8 new characters, 48 new and returning tracks (Counting Tour tracks as new ones, that's even more than 16 new tracks), balancing tweaks, new mechanics like custom items and lightning not breaking your glide, and you can still play ALL of the Mario Kart 8 content plus its DLC. All that for 1/3 of the price of a full game? Just stunning. I honestly wouldn't be upset if they took this same approach with the next console release, that would mean 144 tracks to choose from!

It’s actually my favorite track in the entire series and idk how a future game will top that.

Mario Circuit 3 is underrated yeah I said it. It’s actually a fun course to race on. Yeah the visuals aren’t the best but I prioritize how much fun I have racing on a course over how it looks. And the music is fucking classic
Ice Ice Outpost has been my favourite since it launched as DLC on Wii U :( I feel attacked. I like that it has difficult shortcuts, but for me, I have always loved ice courses and it triggers the nostalgia box for the arctic levels from both Lego Racers 1&2 which I adored growing up.
What’s with all the Mario Circuit 3 hate? It’s always been one of my favorite tracks since the SNES days and still feels like a tight and clean circuit track that just plays well!

It astounds me how so many people think an oval with annoying music, item spam and cringe theming is anything close to good.
Pre-video: My top 10 in order from 10 to 1 are Singapore Speedway, Shy Guy Falls, Piranha Plant Slide, Waluigi Stadium, Maple Treeway, Neo Bowser City, Electrodrome, N64 Rainbow Road, Mount Wario, and 3DS Rainbow Road. Honorable mentions to DK Mountain and Cloudtop Cruise. Here's hoping they do well in the ranking. Post-video: Your top two is my top two, and the rest got enough respect that I can sleep at night. Still wish more people appreciated Neo Bowser City as much as I do though.
Mario Kart Wii is the only Mario Kart game I've never played. I agree with your sentiment that you can feel the love and nostolgia put into it's remake. What I didn't agree with is Rosalina's Ice World placement, as ironically enough I placed it just below Wii RR on my list... ^-^'
I love Mario circuit 3 on 200cc. 50-150cc yeah it’s awful I understand 95th. But on 200cc man the drifts and the shortcuts and the go kart feel makes it not a top 20 or even top 50 track, but a darn fun one I’m happy to play.
Ice Ice Outpost isn’t my favourite because Waluigi Pinball does what I like about Ice Ice better, but I do enjoy it for those immensely driftable curves.

I've watched like 10 videos on people ranking Mario kart 8 deluxe tracks and I never agree with any of them, and they all piss me off. Except this one, while I still disagree with most of the placements, (Waluigi pinball is overrated), I'm still not annoyed at it, because you actually give reasons why.
I feel like the reason people don't really like the city tracks is because they don't know how to enjoy the architecture or the beauty of our world. You can very well say "Oh London loop is boring... your just driving through city streets" And honestly I get that. But if you look at Berlin byways, it actually does a good job preserving structures and icons like the Brandenburg Gate, the East Side Gallery, and much more. (I may be a little biased about it because I actually love Germany as a country)
These people lack critical thinking, the reason they don’t like the city tracks is because they don’t like Tour, they can’t consolidate their distain for Tour and Tour’s tracks. Like children.
Imma be honest the only take I heavily disagree with is 3DS Rainbow Road. Never understood the appeal of it and simply don’t like it. Great list though!
Hot take: 3DS Rainbow Road is SO overrated. Like, I get the feelings most fans have with this one, but to me, the track is a bit boring. Just a bit. Especially the second section. Nothing can top Wii's Rainbow Road
Ok, two comments saying the same thing. I just want to know why you guys think that. To me, I love Wii RR because Nintendo went hard with the layout (a lot of tricky turns, the cannon, the 90⁰ jump...), and the music is beautiful. I will say that the music in 3DS RR is also really good, but the layout... IDK about that one, though. Also, what are your favourite Rainbow Road's? Just curious
@@kirby778confeti5 Nah, Wii Rainbow Road Overrated. It is very simple and has 3 same laps just like any other track. 3DS rainbow road is much more unique. Not only does each lap change, but each lap has a different experience. Also, 3DS rainbow road is more detailed from how you drive on the rings of saturn to driving on the moon. I love the planets in the backgrond as well.
i see two kinds of rainbow roads: the ones focused on challenge (u, snes, wii) and the ones with a simpler layout acting as a victory lap with a focus on aesthetics (n64, 3ds) and i feel the choice of whether wii or 3ds rr is better depends on whether one prefers challenge or style
@meee_5155 Setting is super important to me, and a sparkly road in outerspace has never been that exciting of a setting to me, especially when it is used in every mario kart. The only rainbow road Id ever give a top spot to would be double dash's as I really enjoy the over-the-city theme, glossy roads, and course difficulty.

Imma be honest the only take I heavily disagree with is 3DS Rainbow Road. Never understood the appeal of it and simply don’t like it.
Great list though!
as a person that lives in california i can comfirm that the mario kart track is better than actual los angeles
Oof
Hot take: 3DS Rainbow Road is SO overrated. Like, I get the feelings most fans have with this one, but to me, the track is a bit boring. Just a bit. Especially the second section. Nothing can top Wii's Rainbow Road
Wii Rainbow Road overrated.
Wii RR is overated 😂😂
I thank Mario kart stadium deserves a higher rank since it’s an introduction course
My favorite is Ice Ice Outpost and I'm ANGRY
Also I think Sweet Canyon would look way better vibrant as Sky High Sundae. The piss yellow tone brings it down for me
am I tripping or did bro forget Sky Garden
Royal raceway, moonview highway, Madrid drive, 8dx rainbow road THAT LOW is a crime… bad list 🙏
Top 20 for me (with each course usually moving only 1 or 2 spots every once in a while):
1. Maple treeway
2. Grumble volcano
3. Daisy cruiser
4. Coconut mall
5. Moonview highway
6. Sherbet land
7. Wild woods
8. Daisy circuit
9. Cheese land
10. Bowser castle 3
11. Squeaky clean sprint
12. Sunshine airport
13. Dolphin shoals
14. Tick-tock clock
15. Choco mountain
16. Ribbon road
17. Dry dry desert
18. Sunset wilds
19. Rosalina's Ice World
20. Peach Gardens
Bro where’s any of the rainbow roads
@meee_5155 Setting is super important to me, and a sparkly road in outerspace has never been that exciting of a setting to me, especially when it is used in every mario kart.
The only rainbow road Id ever give a top spot to would be double dash's as I really enjoy the over-the-city theme, glossy roads, and course difficulty.
You definitely played the Wii lol
@Luigiswife69 The Wii has the best courses (and 11 made it to Switch so inevitably so did my Wii favorites)
Where rainbow roads?
3DS Rainbow Road is so overrated. Its not bad but the visuals are just blue, and putting it above mount wario should be a felony
I’m pretty sure Mount wario has just as much blue as 3ds rr lol
The majority of your top 20 is my bottom 20, holy cow
