Incredible upload! - thanks so much. It started more slowly than I expected (the only other cover I know is Zoot’s), but it built to a knockout of emotion & harmonies - just sensational! - tho it’s kind of painful that I’ll likely never see anything like it in this era, lol
it's a shame that the recording quality was so bad - sounds like someone in the audience with a cassette recorder - because the arrangement sounds like this might be an amazing version of this beautiful song
@@pinknight310 no I didn't.. Ill take a look for that. Always astounds me how many people just can't see that very strong link between ELO and the Beatles. Lennon obviously spotted it.
@@randyjohnson2794 i did not know that... makes sense though, I was a bit too young then for concerts. Making up for it now.... I saw ELO in 2019 in Toronto... Danni Harrison opened them.... and he sang Handle with Carw with Jeff ... and backing singer Ian Hornell filled on for Roy... it was a real treat on top of the super performance from Jeff a d his band performing ELO magic!
100% AGREE 👍🏻!!!! Well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. He is The GENIUS from Birmingham. Woah...I love him very much...🥲🛸🚀💡. I'm glad to see other people, like me, who highlights the talent of this awesome musician. Although a lot of people know him sometimes I think he should be more recognized for his music, legacy and career. I started to study music because The Beatles (🙌🏻), but 30 years after I still make music because Jeff Lynne, and of course my mom, she discovered E.L.O for me with "El Dorado" when I recovered my hearing at six years old and had "new ears", (after four years of hearing only dull noises and hums), with such a wonderful and GORGEOUS album was a true catharsis! (...and I must confess that he is also my platonic crush since I saw him with The Move playing "Tonight" with Bev Bevan and Roy Wood (another genius, well, "wizard", hahaha, of music) on tv...😅. And Jeff is the only one who is still in this Planet🤔...ouch...🤦🏻♀️😓). I wonder: what happens in Birmingham that so many talented people, and other rock bands, that I greatly admire have emerged from there...? Well, excuse me for this dense comment but I am very passionate when somebody talks about Jeff Lynne 😅. Greetings from Spain!!🖖🙃
What a contrast between the way ELO sounded live then and the way Jeff Lynne's ELO sounds now. Technology has come a long way. Things to enjoy about both shows.
...and the Lennon tribute piece still gives me goosebumps despite the low quality recording...but it is better than this Eleanor Rigby one. Also check out ELOs version of Daytripper...its on The Night The Light Went On At Long Beach show.
Loved hearing this! Thank you for sharing!!

proper rocking version this
Wow great version of a classic! Thanks for sharing! Rest in Peace Kelly, Hugh and Richard
Never heard this before. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing this.

Wow! Pretty sure the Fab 4 would have loved that too. Imagine if there was a proper recording of this... it'd be gold!
Interesting to hear "the sons of the Beatles" play a Beatles song... never knew ELO performed this.
Have you heard them do Day Tripper? It’s really good! Jeff also sang With a Little Help From My Friends and Nowhere Man before

On the Time tour, they played a Beatles medley to honor John Lennon.

Wow, that was haunting, and must've sounded amazing in the venue!
Very rare...gem...❤
Jeff Lynne is the REAL 5th Beatle.

John Lennon said that if any band picked up where they left off it would be the Electric Light Orchestra
@@eyeofthescar6890 yeah right in your dreams
@@musashielmaldito6848its on a radio recording that is widely known. However, what he should have said is "ELO have surpassed us by a country mile!".
Very pleasant surprise... never ever heard that.
That's really good. They should have done a studio version, for a b side or something.
Sounds amazing!👍
I wish I could have seen them perform that in the New Orleans Concert, in 1977!

In the Arena in 1977 the sound was perfect. This was recorded by a fan with a rustic tape recorder in the audience i believe.
It probably sounded better at the show that this amateurish recording! The John Lennon tribute from the Time tour is brilliant too!

The Beatles were indeed a great group
Welcome to the new world
Jeff is the first beatle
Yeah. Okay. If there are 263 fifth Beatles BEFORE him, then he would be the fifth Beatle!
He's so far above the Beatles! They're arguing which one of them is the 2nd Jeff Lynne.👍
Awful version agghghh wish I'd never heard it
Better than the beatles ever performed it. 👍
