I say Yang would win. Three reasons:
    1. Blake would have to make lots of smaller blows in order to really make an impact on Yang since Yang has an extremely strong aura and Blake isn't known for being a heavy hitter. If you've seen Rooster Teeth's death battle between Yang and Tifa, they explain the strength of Yang's aura using the RWBY vs Mecha fight in volume 2 and it's well over 1,400 TONS of force. Blake just doesn't have that kind of output. She got thrown against a wall while fighting Adam and that's all it took to break her aura. You can do the math. If this fight is until an aura break, Yang wins every time.
2.Yang's semblance would just allow her to compound and reflect the hits back on Blake in just one blow. If this was before Yang lost her arm, Blake might have been able to take advantage of Yang's temper and recklessness, but that isn't the case anymore. The writers are having Yang fight a lot smarter nowadays so the odds of her landing a good blow is extremely high at this point.
    3. Team RWBY picked Yang to represent them in the final round at the Vytal Festival Tournament because Blake works best as a support fighter for someone who can lead the charge. It's why she and Yang work so well together.(e.g. RWBY vs. Mecha fight) The difference is that Yang doesn't necessarily NEED Blake.

    Yang would win
As said Gamble Shroud is more of a war of attrition/disabling weapon. If Yang caught Gamble Shroud while it was trying to bind her it would be basically over. Either Blake would have to let go or Yang pulls her in for a good couple of blows. Neither outcome favors Blake.

Yang vs Blake is a fight of 'One Shot Kill' vs 'Death by a thousand cuts'. If Blake can play keep away long enough, she'll whittle Yang down.
However, if Yang gets a good shot or two in, she'll shatter Blake's aura really quickly.
I say that if Yang can get a good Rush Down combo, she'll win, but if Blake can dodge away in time she'll have the advantage.

Here we go, the battle off Bumblebee, I have been doing research on this one. And first things first, Yes I believe *Yang* would win this.
And I don't believe this is a missmatch or overwhelming victory, this is going to be a close fight. These girls love eachother very much so and basicly knows everything about eachother.
Let's start off with *Blake* , for Blake she is indeed a very agile character, very quick on her feet, being able to dodge Vine's semblance in rather close distance and she's very smart and can think on her feet as we saw in the case in Adam's chase through the forest to use her equipment to her advantage to dodge Adam's strike by giving up her jacket, we also saw her using her own clones (which have a little frame off being solid) as platforms, to get higher up in the communications tower. So facing through the clones... yeah kinda, but I think she chooses to do so to throw people off. Like she did at Haven academy to throw Adam off and smack Adam over the head.
Her weapon off choice is *Gambol shroud* Classified as a "Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe" A mouthfull for a Katana -> that can sickle with a ribbon -> and a gun as 1 off her weapons and a bladed edge sheat to duel wield (a bit like how Adam has Wilt (his sword) and Blush (his sheath that can be used as a gun) as his 2 weapons). The Gambol shroud is a close to midrange weapon with a tiny bit off range weapon that is strong enough to take down a Sabretooth Grimm and the function that I love about Gambol shroud is that Blake can make the gun go off by pulling on the ribbon, this while Gambol shroud is in the sickle form, by doing this she can make the sickle change trajectory, we have seen her do this agains the Atlas military in the black trailer and the Deathstalker all the way back in Volume 1. I Do wonder sometimes if the ribbon is made of the same material as Hush (Neo's umbrella) as the ribbon is elastic and strong enough to not break while using it as a catapult to launch Ruby and being used to get Reese off her floating snowboard, where the blade fell short using it agains Adam.
As for *Yang* , we know Yang is more a direct battler, she is the heavy hitter off the main group as we have seen her stop a Manticore and toss it arround in the opening off volume 6 on the train and she like also likes to use all for appendages in her techniques, we have seen so agains the Malachite sisters (Melanie and Miltiades) in the Yellow trailer and Yang is much calmer now after her training with Taiyang.
Yang's weapon off Choice is *Ember Celica* a pair off battle gauntlet shotguns (also a posthetic arm that had a simple gun barrel in it for season 4 to 6, before getting Ember Celica imbedded into the prosthetic arm), which some interresting ammo, going from simple shotgun shells to delayed detonated ones in volume 7. If this was indeed volume 3 where Yang had no controle once her emotions took over and she got upset, she would simply loose once Blake outsmarted her and tied her up using the ribbon, but Yang has learned not to solely rely on this. Something I also would like to mention is that yes Yang is slower then Blake, but she can increase her speed by using the knock-back off firing her shotguns, we have seen she is pretty adapted in using this all the way back in volume 1 by basicly flying arround, avoiding trees, by blasting off shotgun rounds as they were doing their landing strategy. We also have seen this in volume 3, that she can make some major distances as she leaps, while destroying the arena that Neon was rollerblading on and it has so much power it could withstand and overpower Flynt's sound based attacks getting in close for the strike that knocked out Flynt.
*Scenario* I thought off would be that Yang would start off hard, firing off shotgun shells at Blake and we know Blake can be very quick on her feet if she needs to be. Dodging these blast that would tear up the battlefield, this debree would be great cover for Blake to use Gambol shroud to manuvere arround the battle field, using tear up chunks off land to her advantage to take cover and still falling rocks to swing arround the battlefield. If Blake can use this advantage to ensnare Yang in the ribbon (like they did to ground the Sphinx grimm) she could put in some powerfull blows to Yang and make her way out off dodge again before Yang can break out. But just the share difference in strenght is the key here, Yang gets more powerfull the more she gets beat up, basicly if Yang gets the chance to power up to much she could break any kind off clone that Blake will leave behind, I don't even believe the explosive fire clones will do anything anymore as Yang was able to stop even a Paladin piloted by Roman. Also if Yang gets powered up enough she could level the entire battlefield as the could agains Elm, making Blake bounce up, offcourse Blake could still manuvere using her sickle, yet any kind off actually wounding Yang will slim down as Blake is stuck at her base strength, where Yang will slowly overpower her. Another thing Yang can do it Block Blake's attacks with her metalic arm and if it becomes ensnared by Blake, she can always detach it with enough force to push back Nora off all people. End point is that Yang's strength and endurance will outlast Blake's.
Only thing I can think off for Blake to win is to completely immobilize Yang, Blake could do this by binding her up, using her clones to move out off dodge in close combat and end up catching her own sickle again to swing it arround Yang a second time and a third and etc. To go for a aura break before Yang gets to strong. But in overall I totally agree with Phoenix night that Yang would win this 1v1.

Hyper Dreamer It was never stated to be dust and it never had any special abilities. Each kind of dust has a unique color, black is gravity, yellow is lightning, ice is light blue and red dust is fire. A lot of the weapons in RWBY are colored like Crescent Rose is also red and Ember Cilica is yellow so there's really no reason to think that Adam's sword was a special pure dust sword.

Blake can use lightning clones, she did it when she was getting followed by the 3 Sabretooth and 1 Mammoth Grimm. She used a lightning clone to get rid of a Sabretooth that attacked her.
Also I wonder why no one mentions that Blake can create energy blades made of Aura for distance heavy hits. She has done this in the final hit on Roman and multiple energy blades to destroy the rockets that Roman inside the Paladin robot shot at her.
(AND NO that had nothing to do with Weiss' Time Dilation buff, it is just for increased speed)

    @icefang111 4 года назад +9

one correction- blake HAS used lighting dust clones before (when running from the gigalith) tho idk if she's used it on a person
But for me in a straight fight Yang would definitely win. Using gamble shroud to try and restrain Yang would be a huge mistake, as Yangs strength is more than enough to just pull Blake to her and make it close combat. As you said without environment for movement capabilities it becomes much more of a straight brawl, which Yang is practically built for and I can't see her losing.
With environment things get more interesting but I still think Yang would win it- there's nothing to stop her from just tearing the trees/buildings/ice, etc down. Sure Blake can still use the chunks to make clones but the mobility it grants her is what gives her an extra edge, as long as Yang can remove that factor she can win. (The chaos of that also allows her to hide exploding shells, and even if she doesn't she can set them up anyway like traps in a biome)
As such the only biome I see Blake winning in is the Gravity Biome, where the maneuverability can't just be removed and is a huge part of your ability to fight in it. while Yang would be able to maneuver with her shotgun blasts, Blake would be right in her element.
But overall, ya, I think I'd have to give it to Yang. Blake has to hit her over and over, to whittle her down and yet be very careful about Yang's semblance. Yang only needs a few good hits, and only one in the end once her semblance stores up enough power. Ultimately, the person who only needs to fuck up once to lose is the one who tends to have the worst chance of winning- and in this case that's Blake.

Alright, so I believe this fight would go down like any other. Blake hits yang, yang hits blake, yang gets angry, she uses her semblance, BUT, WHAT IF, Blake used her clones to take the hit for her, so it wastes Yang’s finisher?
Now let’s take a look at their weapons. In my opinion, a sword definitely has an advantage against ember Celica, a sickle would definitely tangle her up if she doesn’t have something to block it, and the other thicker blade of Gambol Shroud (I forgot what it’s called) might be useful for blocking attacks if held vertically as seen in Adam Taurus Vs Yang. Therefore, I feel like this would’nt be an easy fight for either of them, but Blake would win overall.

I feel like both of the reasons of both of them winning were very accurate and justified. Yang would win if Blake didn’t have anywhere to go or run to use her mobility. If Blake did, she would probably win.
For the next round, as much as I want Sun to win, I feel like Ruby will be victorious. She would just petal burst around his attacks, away from him as a retreat option, or to him as way to get in. Sun is skilled but Ruby’s semblance is just too hard for Sun with his skill and move set. I don’t know I just want Sun to win, but Ruby also is very skilled.

    • @alexroberts8129

Ruby would just be stalling until her aura depleted from using Petal Burst. Even if she shot at Sun from a distance, her rounds are big and slow and easy to anticipate and dodge. Even in scythe form, Crescent Rose is heavier and slower than Sun's weapons.
And idk Ruby is great at facing off hordes of Grimm or strategizing with other people but doesn't seem all that capable 1v1. Even the fight with Harriet, it was Weiss that put her down.

I could see Yang blowing up an earth clone with her explosive charges and then grabbing a chunk of it and throwing it.
Whereas Blake could try something like throwing her blade at the ground, make a clone, swing behind Yang using the ribbon to trip her up, then perhaps and upwards strike from behind. Once airborne, she could make an elemental clone and propel it at yang from above to keep her down and/or deal a decent chunk of damage

Y'know, before any comparison. RT nixed Blake's sense of fight towards Vol. 4 which is a bit of a loss. So a lot of the test for skill power will have to come from inferring Blake's trailer and basic feats.
Since we've seen Yang progress in mind and technique, my direction in comment is to the little things Blake has done in major that I've seen that can add to the discussion.
    - Our Black Cat is a powerful jumper. Especially in the "Stowaway and Runaways" episode. That's also translates into a lot of kicking power and momentum-driven combat. Blake may adapt to a hit-and-run type strategy with slide kicks or forcing whiffs so Yang would have to be careful with her 2-in-1 combos.
    - Gamble Shroud's Shockwave:
Last I know we saw of that was versus Torchwick and whether that was the Night Dust or an hidden effect, this is Blake heavy long range hitter. Where Blake can bait a juke out of Yang, her tactics open up on the fly.
    - Gamble Shroud as a Kusari-gama
Remember that this blade and ribbon weapon is indeed that type of ninja weapon of history and the fact it's propelled by ammo reveals many situations.
Where many would say it's grab able, should Blake throw it pistol side first, it become a static danger to counter and extremely offensive with Dust rounds
Plus ice and earth rounds would give her untold leverage and anchoring.
Where Blake is decisive enough, she can cause an attack from her and the weapons side; a very potent mix.
    - Blake's ability to rush down. This is where I believe the head on strikes will come. Again I refer to both the train fights where she could use hand over hand striking with the whole weapon set. The amount of pressure she can create is astonishing. G.Shroud whipping around is an offensive defense, giving her time to set next key hit.
Overall Blake's battle heights are yet to the reached. However dexterity and tactical fighter like her are very scary when well trained.
As of now Blake would give Yang many good fights, although the the latter would more consistent to make finishes.
PS. I so want Blake to go away and train and find her flame, she's too good

Absolutely agree with your reasoning! It all depends on who has the advantage. No extra mobility means Blake's fighting a losing battle. Obstacles? Yang can't keep up. Perfectly sound reasoning on your part. Also, just as an aside (and pardon if someone else has said this), but Blake's weapon with the ribbon form is called a "kusarigama" :) Particularly when she's propelling it around with shots and swinging it.

If they fought with their highest skill potential, Blake would win. She could tire yang out like neo did in the train and her offensive clones can do lots of damage & let her back out of sticky situations, especially the electric one since yangs prosthetic arm is metal. However like right now, yang would win because shes way more skilled than blake and rt just made blake trash :(

She actually did use a lightning clone against the Megoliath.
This is obviously a tough call to make. Given how well versed in each other's abilities they are. Blake has the edge in speed and versatility to be sure. But she has a difficult time applying it on her own. Only able to act as setup for a heavy hitter usually. Yang is hardier and stronger to be sure.
What I consider the deciding factor truly is in growth. It is true Blake has grown a lot as a person. But around Yang and for herself has a habit of falling back into her old ways. A sense or fear persists with her when she is unsure how to handle something. Causing her to hesitate.
An interesting way of looking at this comes from the weapons and changes made in volume 7. Blake chose to alter her appearance. Applying two forms of remembrance to herself. First is how her weapon was repaired is much like a practice in repairing pottery with a golden resin. I believe called Kitone. But I may be wrong. In which you give new life to that which broke while highlighting where it broke as a reminder of that history. Secondly she cut her hair. Which is often a sign of mourning. Where a girl shall keep.her hair short for 6 months to mourn the loss of someone. Obviously it is also seen as a Bob or "lesbian cut" but I like to think this is her remembering who Adam was and to push herself forward. Yang while not having changed much physically. Arm does that enough. But she altered her weapons for more options. More range. Bombs she can place around to throw off Blake when a bomb goes off.
The point being that while they have both grown. Blake chooses to directly remember every time she looks at herself or her weapon while Yang moves more directly onward. Improving herself. Smarter. More evasive. More options. While Blake keeps to the same. Using her experience to drive her. Blake has not adapted beyond her base set and skills. So while she is smarter for it. She has not adapted to make up for this weakness while Yang has. Blake has not moved on because she is using the memory to spurn herself to move forward. But is still shackled by it and could hesitate. This is the edge to see to Yang's victory. She has grown more mentally and physically than Blake and and this is why Blake will ultimately lose.

Before volume 6 I'd say Blake wins most if the time. But after seeing how much more clever of a fighter Yang's become, the the odds are a lot more even.
I still think Blake would win. Yang's fighting style forces her to play on Blake's terms since she'll need to constantly be up close. But Blake is so agile that I don't see her getting caught in Yang's barrage of fists very often. Plus her explosive clone is an ace.

Blake could try to put a Neo on Yang and it might work, but Blake isn't as dodgy as the tiny psycho and Yang's fighting style has become more tricky than in earlier volume.
Yang just needs one hit to get the advantage on her kitty waifu but that's when the Shadow can save Blake's ass.
If Blake, knowing Yang's Semblance, doesn't rely too much on her own to dodge minor attacks but the big ones she knows Yang is stocking for her (like she did with Adam), she can play it safe and deplete Yang's aura bit by bit and when the blondie activates her Semblance after having Blake cornered, a fire clone can win the game.
So it is easier for Yang to win but Blake can get her too if she don't screw up.

She would have to flawless at risk of being one shotted. Blake would need to dodge and wear Yang out WITHOUT using her semblance for most of the fight and that's just not something we seen her train to do.

I think a pretty good approximation but not really a good analogy would be Yang vs Mercury. Mercury being fairly strong but relies on agility and Talaria to create smokescreens and be able to land numerous hits. Melvin had a much more detailed analysis but I agree ultimately Yang's sheer strength and durablity and her semblance will be able to take down Blake when Yang gets a chance to score some hits.

  • @Will_Morand

Yang is very durable, capable of withstanding hitting the ground at terminal velocity(I did the math, DeathBattle was correct) without any aura damage. I feel like Yang’s durability could allow her to outlast Blake’s Stamina, wearing her down before going in for the finishing blow.

I'd vote for Blake. If Blake plays keep away long enough and far enough Yang would have to use Ember Celica to be able to catch up. At this point, Blake could theoretically use her shadows as traps. We only touched on the subjects of Fire, Ice, Earth, and possibly lightning. However, the most crucial dust that everybody forgot about is Gravity dust. If Blake can use Gravity dust in different polarities, she could throw Yang skyward with gravity forcing up or yank her to the ground dealing massive momentum damage with gravity going downward. If Yang attempted to use her semblance and give herself a speedboost and attempt to use the blast for the speedboost on top of that, now the momentum would be even more intense and the ground will most definitely hurt.

Ok, so I'm pretty sure that the consensus is that "Yang wins lol", but some people are gonna bring up the Chibi episode where Yang couldn't even touch Blake. So before that becomes a serious playing card, let me step in.
Blake is stronger than she looks, but her problem is that she is put in situations in the show where she doesn't need to use her powerful assets. I'm a guy that hasn't read the comics or manga (it's just the show for me), and my experience with the show tells me that Yang can eat all of Blake's attacks without flexing. That doesn't mean Blake is powerless: Dust-boosted shadow clones are very useful, especially in the right circumstances. Fire dust clones are probably her hardest-hitting move, ice dust clones can immobilize Yang's movements to get more shots in, and, by the way, that's just the ones she chooses to use. She has all kinds of dust thanks to Weiss, so you could probably spitball really good ideas with this one.
I still say Yang wins just simply because she's a tank. In a D&D style fight, Yang is the bruiser that takes lots of damage and dishes out bigger amounts of pain, while Blake is the one who aids such tanks. Yang, with her fiery abilities, overrules fire dust and breaks the ice clones if Blake tried that move.
If Blake wants to win, she has to find Yang's weakness, and if you asked me what that was, it is Yang's versatility. She's a kickboxer at heart and a master at close-distance fighting. Blake DOES have a speed advantage, but this isn't a race; she would only outpace Yang to get away from her, not to snipe from far away or recover. Even in biomes where Blake could hide, Yang will eventually find her, and the game is not outlasting your opponent after all. So when faced with what seems to be Yang's only weakness, her inability to adapt to situations she wouldn't normally be in, Blake is unfortunately the wrong person to exploit it. I like Phoenix's idea of Blake wrapping Yang up with the weapon's ribbon, but do you really think that's gonna stop Yang? No. The answer is no.
Next, DPS. All of Yang's shots deal damage. That's easy to see. Meanwhile, Blake's entire arsenal, with the exception of dust clones, are not made for damage. As we are all aware, Blake is the only one who didn't have to deal with bigger/multiple opponents during the course of RWBY's trailers and character shorts, at least by herself. The sea dragon from V4? Ship killed it. Adam? First time, she lost; second time, she needed Yang. Illia? Well, she did win that, but the battle just stopped mid-way rather than actually concluding. You get the rest.
Finally, would Blake and Yang know each other's weaknesses? I already discussed Yang's weakness, and Blake being the one who deals chip-damage really doesn't help. However, Yang would probably tense up a lot more trying to hurt Blake and intentionally go easy on her. While there isn't evidence of Yang doing this in a legitimate fight against Blake, there is something in Yang's character short when she faces Ruby. Obviously, like Blake, Ruby is not suited to fight in Yang's preferred style and Yang, knowing this, doesn't try to hurt her, even though the both of them are protected by aura. I would think Blake would see that Yang would intentionally limit herself against Blake to even the odds. Would Blake win because of this?
Well, factoring Yang is still a beefy brawler and Blake is the speedy jabber compared to her; even if Yang switches to chip-damage like Blake does, her defenses are much stronger, giving Yang all the benefits. And if you know Yang is holding back power to protect her opponent from harm, you know that Blake has no chance in hell.
    Winner: Yang

Okay, how the heck did you come to the conclusion that Yang would lose to Blake in 1v1 in the earlier volumes? Yang relying on her semblance would not be a disadvantage vs Blake, it is only a potential liability against stronger opponents, ones who can hit hard. Blake has never shown any ability to attack fast enough to knock Yang out. No matter what, Yang wins. Easily. I think any other conclusion is not justified from anything we have seen in the show.

  • @f.a.miller4126

Yang’s fighting style is either reckless or trying to finish the fight as fast as possible when she is on her own. Blake’s has always been to tire her enemy out and attack when the moment is right. She very much more tactical. She has more versatility with her weapon, and, with the gun and ribbon, could easily restrain, or put yang off balance. Because yang is a hand to hand fighter, Blake could easily halt her attacks with a stone clone, sealing her hand into the clone and having to use energy to take it out. From volume 7 it seems that the lightning clones could speed her up more, making her harder to catch.

in my opinion its a matter of it being a battle of attrition. Giving that yang is built to last and take hits and blake being more speed based which generally causes a lesser tanky build. This is definatly the case with the normal arena effects. Even if there was a arena setting like the forest i think Yang would still win as i feel like blake wouod be dealing small chip damage. All yang needs to do in my opionion is hit blake once with that considering the aura usage of her shadow probably draining blakes aura.

  • @tannerlowrie8084
    @tannerlowrie8084 4 года назад +3

I think the fight between the Ace Ops is all you need to know to see that Yang would most likely win this fight. Depending on how you examine the fight, Blake struggles 4+ separate times while Yang only struggles twice (you can watch the fight yourself and count, but that’s what I counted), and I feel like that’s how the fight would go. Blake could maybe get some good hits in, but if she gets hit even once she’s going to struggle to get back in the fight. Even though Blake is my favorite character, she’s fighting a seriously uphill battle. Which honestly sucks because I feel like all of Team RWBY (except maybe Ruby herself, who could’ve started off worse and grown beyond the rest of her team) should be roughly equal in a combative sense instead of Yang being the clear best of the Team, which is at least how it seems to me.

All she'd need to do is goad Yang into activating her semblance, then use shadow clones to dodge her punches (sort of like the game of tag in Chibi) until Yang's aura was used up. Now that Yang's a much smarter fighter, however...Blake better hope for the anti-grav biome or something that will greatly favor her agility over Yang's brute force if she's to have any hope of winning.
