- A few months ago, we sold everything we own and moved onto a 36ft sailboat.
This is some of what we have been doing and how we feel about our new life 4 months in.
This video does not even summarize half of what we have experienced or have done - and that is okay. It is not a showcase of our lives, but just a glimpse to help ourselves remember when we are old and frail of what we got up to. Trying to put this together, I once realized once what a privilege and fun experience it has been.
We have already met so many amazing people and have amazing friends share in the story. Thanks to all you.
We are planning to live and explore the Indian Ocean from our sailboat. We did a refit of a TOSCA 36 and left Cape Town in October 2018. A large part of sailing is learning how to be adaptable and change plans - our biggest being our failed engine as we were making our way from Knysna to Port Elizabeth. Follow along as we figure out how to live with less.

love the video guys ;-) I have a question for you. what are the running cost "berth Electric gas" for the boat per month. Fair winds
. Berth - if you are in a marina, it depends costs depends on the specific marina (being a club member will bring down the fees) It will include use of facilities as well as water and plugging into shore power. Anything from R3500-8000pm. Setting up your solar and batteries will be expensive initially but if well looked after, will get you off the grid. Our gas lasts us more than a month if we are on anchor - we use the gas for cooking and our hot water in the galley and showers. Hope this helps? Leaker . We started out on a Barens 26 in Durban , progressed to a 43 and have a 71 ( for the last 26 years) that was built in Cape Town . Been everywhere and made Ft Lauderdale our home in 1996. Exciting what lies ahead for you .

Sailing Pluto ek het letterlik nou net op julle channel af gekom so nou watch ek al julle episodes. Ek is ook in Kaapstad Northern suburbs en wil ook sal, maar het eers ander verantwoordelikhede soos kinders klaar kry met skool en hulle eers in settle met hulle lewens dan kan ek en my vrou gaan sal. So tot dan kyk ons maar wag julle mense aanvang . Lol

I am being told by You that yacht club, Simons time Yacht club etc that you can only live on a sailboat no longer than 3 months? Where are you guys based?
Each yacht club have and apply their own rules. Best to check with the yacht clubs directly.
