They always get described as a power metal band, but you nailed it about how they sound so different across their songs. To me, they defy being stuck in a single category. I am here for as many reactions as you want to do!
Older: "Into the Storm", "Born in a Mourning Hall", "Mordred's Song" & "Another Stranger Me"
Just because there are one or two Songs that dont fit the bill doesnt mean they "defy" anything. They are the definition of german power metal, shaped the entire power metal genre and have written well over 150 Power metal songs.

If you really want to get a feel for the versatility of this band, I really think you can't go wrong with the main single from the previous album, The Ninth Wave, where they go practically simphonic power metal. ruclips.net/video/Fn3-uhU6AyY/видео.html
If you like Blind Guardian, then I definitely recommend checking out a band called Demons & Wizards. It's half BG and half Iced Earth. They have a 2 song set from Wacken 2019 that you could react to and a couple of great studio songs ("Diabolic" is my personal favorite).
According to Wiki the song is actually about Battlestar Galactica, so the Dr. Doom lookalike (which I didn't notice as well) is either a cool coincidence or intentional by the video director most likely.
I am exploring the new album as well, the sound is pretty unique among BG albums. So far I think this was the weakest song together with the last song Destiny, though it is still good. There are some really good songs in it.
A BG Album only having "some" good songs is dysmal if you compare it to albums like nightfall where even the interlude tracks and acoustic songs were legendary.
@@KT-pv3kl No I meant all songs are good but some are really good. You are right it is not Nightfall material though but I don't expect that.
