More Blind Guardian? A dozen more? Yeah, I'm down with that!
Definitely check out a range of their stuff from older to newer, live & studio. They are brilliant no matter what. If you see videos from the Imagination Through The Looking Glass tour, they are all great (older tour and older tracks).
I vote for a new one next to see what they can still do after all these years. All 3 are excellent. "Blood of the Elves" and "Deliver Us From Evil" are more straight ahead bangers, and "Secrets of the American Gods" is a bit more of a soaring epic.

That's a big rabbit hole to go to! ;-) maybe one of their new songs next? "Violent shadows" or "Deliver us from evil" would be great!

One of the few bands who sound pretty different live than they do on album and who are able to make both styles perfectly work. The studio versions are layered, great sound construction, effects, elaborate and technical. Live they are much rawer, less effectwork, more in-your-face, still technical and elaborate but stripped of the layering and grand sound design. I suggest you listen to the studio version of Mirror Mirror to get a feel for the difference.

Guardian is always great, most songs from "The Silmarillion the Album" errr I mean *Nightfall in Middle Earth* (Though most of it takes place in Beleriand🤣) are stunners, mid to late 90s Blind Guardian is just the right mix between thrash, power and more complex metal.
Not that the newer, more prog songs are *not* awesome!
Check out *Wheel of Time" ("[...] turn the wheeeel oohof tiime! **humm, humm** ) which is a bit newer, but *everything* from nightfall is awesome... "the field is lost, everything is lost! The black one has fallen from sky and the towers in ruins lie! The enemy is within, everywhere! And with him the light; soon they will be here! Go now my lord while there is time! [...]" this sends shivers down every BG fan... and they all will intone this as a crowd...😆
    Best regards
    Raoul G. Kunz

In case you've got more then one week in Germany after Wacken:
Don't miss M'era Luna Festival in Hildesheim (Northern Germany as well) the weekend after Wacken, which is a fantastic gothic / alternative festival with always a couple of bands playing Wacken and Mera Luna.
It's not as big as Wacken (25.000 people) but it's one of the most important gothic and alternative festivals. Thera are already first bands announced incl. two medieval metal bands (In Extremo / Subway to Sally).
And I am there as concert photographer :-)

Glad you want to look into Blind Guardian more! Very tough to give more suggestions, you can select any random song and most likely it will be above average at least.
Wheel of Time is a good one, it has their recent more symphonic sound so it is better if you listen to the studio version if you want to enjoy its orchestra. It is a pretty epic song.
Or if you want a more classic one, Time Stands Still, or Mordred's Song are good choices.

Time stands still or nightfall… Of course also live, nightfall is a softer one or bright eyes

A not that much softer, but BG in more of a symphonic power metal mood is The Ninth Wave. But And Then There Was Silence if you want a composition masterclass. The Ninth Wave ruclips.net/video/Fn3-uhU6AyY/видео.html
Save Helloween for Halloween. 🎃🎃 There's a live official version of the song Halloween. ruclips.net/video/VAVeG4KS0JM/видео.html
Another impressive singer is Eric Adams of Manowar. Also the late André Matos of Angra. And Fabio Lione of Rhapsody. All bands likely to appeal to someone that likes Blind Guardian. Rhapsody is off the charts in terms of composition, even in this select company, but they're a bit forgotten now.

Like your reactions. Check out the new songs. I’ll go see blind guardian Friday next week 👍🏻in my hometown at a rather small place. Not easy seeing them very close, very exiting.

Yes, there is a risk of addiction here. Excellent complex compositions with continuous melodies. Outstanding musicians and Hansi's singing is unique.
How about Under the ice, Tanelorn, At the EDge of Time, Imaginations of the other Side
AND a new album is coming out right now

The funny thing is, since the early days, Hansi just has to get a nice Jacket and a Necktie, and could go to a Bank and sell you something xD He always was so "Handsome" Its"His" thing NOT to look like a Metal Singer🖤🖤🖤🖤

(Gosh, i hope you read this...)
You got yourself a ticket for Wacken? I can already promise you that you will NOT regret it.
It is, of course, your decision what bands you want to see, but i'd like to put in a few suggestions for bands that are pretty good live, but (maybe) not so well known worldwide.
And these suggestions would be: Wardruna (If you know, then you know. If not, you will see.), Burning Witches (One of the few all-female bands that are actually decent.)
--- It is still early for Wacken 2023, so we shall see what other bands are going to be there. (But Wardruna stays a recommendation, no matter who else is gonna enlist)

    • @Jaimunji
      @Jaimunji  Год назад +1

Hey mate thanks for reaching out! With Wardruna I know only very little and need to listen to more but I don't know where to start.
Burning Witch I actually know nothing about so I'll check them out based on your recommendation :) I was very happy with Warkings being added to the bill.

@@Jaimunji Every year at Wacken they have a slight theme they go for with the bands and their songlists.
One year was sci-fi/future, another year was mediaval/fantasy... and next year is going to be viking/nordic.
At this point, i have no specific song recommendations. I just want to name a few bands that i know are worth watching live.
And in that regard, i would like to add "Schandmaul" to the list. Yes, their songs are mostly in german, but they are nice, fun and captivating.
(They started out as a medieval-/volk-metal band.)
[Oh, and just for clarification, i am in no way saying that the other bands are bad. I haven't seen all the bands live, so i cannot judge their live performances.]
      {And also: In the end it all comes down to personal taste. If the other bands were really bad, they wouldn't be at Wacken.}

Once you get done with Blind Guardian you can check out Demons and Wizards which is half BG and half Iced Earth
