Thank you for your advice 👏When colour draped decades ago, the colourist had extreme difficulty determining if I was a summer or spring. Now some say I’m Neutral, but I still struggle with summer/spring even as I age I guess I can use both season palates💕
I thought I was light autumn as a young woman and became a light summer as I aged. Other channels state undertones don’t change so I felt unsure about where I fit. Last week, I was looking at my school portraits and realized I was a light autumn in the 10th grade because I was from So Cal and spent a lot of time at the beach. My family moved to OK and my 11th grade portrait screamed soft summer. All these years I thought the color difference was the quality of the camera or ink on the film but I recognize the pinkish skin and dark ashy blonde hair 46 years ago is very close to my coloring now. I am enjoying the process of learning the subtleties of the “why” behind observations I made long ago. I appreciate what you two bring to the color analysis discussion; you use descriptive words that clarify where summers can blur into autumn or spring. Thank you.
I used to be a summer, soft and cool, and the lady that did my analysis told me I would become cooler with time. Which has happened as my hair is almost completely silver now. I look good in black, grey and blue. But I'm kind of lost, I'm a winter of sorts I think but, I need to redo an analysis.
Your channel is my favorite! You both explain this so well! Thank you! I have concluded that I am a neutral leaning toward autumn. After you both talked about hair and eye color, I understood. My natural hair is very dark and and curly and is turning grey. I wear human hair bc I love that I can have longer, fuller, softer hair in any color that I want. I have started looking at the colors of the alternative hair and some of my brunettes are coco and some have red. The red looks stunning and rich. Now I know, that I am more autumn! Thank you! I’m in the process of getting another piece, and it’s going to be even more beautiful than my last price with the red. Yes, they are washed, colored, highlighted, and I like to style without heat bc the quality of the hair is gorgeous! I don’t want to ruin it. Have a beautiful and blessed day, Ladies! And thank you again!!!! PS I agree with you both about changing hair color and clothing. It’s very true. I have different colors for different hair. 😂
Every seasonal color analysis quiz types me as a soft summer, but I don't think I am! I look washed out and pale in many soft summer colors. It's such a pretty palette, though. 🙏
Hi lovely ladies, I’ve just started to follow you from Wales🏴 (UK) …love your content… I have subscribed😉 I was recently colour analysed as a “dark summer” is this something you recognise in a summer or do you have a different way to describe it? No.1💜 I’m with Lucinda Thanks for all your wonderful content😊
I use pronunciation #1 of mauve. I might be totally off as English is not my first language. But it was a very interesting analysis. I have struggled with what soft means, but I think it’s clear that it describes my features. My eyes are a combination of greys, blues and some green and look different depending on the light. My hair contains all colours from light blonde to a darker brown. What confused me the most is that my hair often gets taken for being warm in the sun, but on the other side it never looks right if I put golden hair colour in it.
Mauve 1. I'm English and I've always used Lucinda's pronunciation. I thought that Sara's pronunciation was the American way, but, obviously, it's not that simple.
Hey I am a soft summer but dark brown haired and with olive skin. I did a live colour analysis and even the Analyst was baffled. She said it is because I have so much grey in my skin colour and hair colour. What do you think? Is it possible for a mediterran type to be Soft summer?
Yes. Because it depends on the skins undertone. Not on hair or something. That’s why your season CANNOT switch as the two said here. You can have a cool skin undertone if you are Mediterranean. Your hair color can change, but not the skin undertone. I changed my hair color so many times but I always was a cool summer. That’s why warm hair colors didn’t suit me as well. My natural hair is a level 6-5, so I am not a blonde too but a brown with a lot of ash undertones in my hair so it’s looking even darker. But I am a summer. Is seasons would change like a hair color it would be so easy to feel free to choose your season by switching the color of your hair and wear contacts for changing the color of your eyes to be the wanted season. But it’s not. They are talking about other aspects but ignoring the undertones of the skin a little but that is what color analysis is based on.
I'm a winter that dyed hair platinum blonde. I do have dark brown eyes but very cool brown. I definitely feel I'm a summer now. I feel I look good in cool muted tones, but there are still some jewel tones I can rock, luckily 😅
I have to say, with someone who was born blonde and have very cool skin tone, the red or warm tones that DO pop up in a Summer are from the hair color itself. No matter how ash the highlights are, all hair color fades out warm, from hard water and other elements. My skin tone does not change so it looks awful. Purple shampoo saves me. I am dark and light ash blond with fair skin and light eyes.
OMGOSH! You ladies are the greatest! I’m jumping up and down I’m so excited!!! I MIGHT BE A WINTER or a blend!!! I look HORRIBLE dusty pink, dusty rose, and a despise periwinkle with every fiber of my mortal being. My hair is ASH-level 4 or 5, and as those melanocytes vacate, my hair is WHITE at the temples. I adore magenta/hot pink! My eyes are blue with “ice” spokes and a darker blue limbal ring around the outside. This is my FAVORITE channel! So excited!
For awhile I had a very experimental hairdresser, who convinced me to try dyeing my graying hair shades of purple. She always kept it cool, but the colors I wore really varied upon the shades of purple…reddish purple, violet, or lilac, led me to the soft grayed hues, and the one time we tried more blue than purple I needed some of the deeper more intense red purples. And the one time we tried platinum blonde, it washed me out; apparently I need more contrast, which makes me think I’m soft rather than light.
Also, I’ve always thought of my eye color as “blueberry blue;” darkish, no rim, definitely blended w/o striations, with a lot of frosting. Soft summer??
I'm a bilingual Canadian and I say #1 mauve... originally a French word, like taupe, pronounced the same way. I've only heard Americans say it the #2 way.
See I used an app to see what palette I am in it says soft summer. I was a natural redhead now my hair looks white and ash blonde/ brownish at the roots but my eyes are hazel, Brown and green. My eyes don’t look blurred though. I have freckles. I’m confused what palette I’m in. The light blues and greens do look beautiful on me now and the autumn colors I used to wear don’t look as good.
I'm a soft Summer French lady too. BTW when it comes to glasses do you pick up colour according to your seasonal colour ? Mine are brown/yellow (Warm tones) which sometimes look odd on my skin Summer tone😢
Hi! Soft Summer here! Now that I have my natural greyish hair, it is very blended. Not salt and pepper at all. I used to have ash blonde hair when younger, with a tinge of green. My hair used to look dark olive green! My eyes are olive green with a grey rim and some warmth around the pupil. Now that I have grey hair, I feel that way too soft colors make me look too pale. I need a little more saturation within my palette.
Everything about me except for my eyes falls into soft summer. My eyes can change between greenish blueish, blueish green, grayish blue or green. But the color is not obviously clouded and the areola is pronounced and significantly in contrast to the white of my eye. Help, can I still be a soft summer? Thank you
I'm the same. I can wear pretty much any summer color but summer to soft summer works best. So I think we might be "on the summer cusp"? But I am not a color expert. 😊
I googled the pronunciation. Lucinda favors the British pronunciation and Sara prefers the American pronunciation. And please correct me if I spelled either of your names wrong. Thanks for all the good content and the fun.
I just watched this video. my eyes are usually green but often change colors, like blue or green with more golden amber around the pupil. So how do I determine what my season is??
Hi ladies, please could you do a video on people who are a mix of colours? I have neutral leaning cool skin, clear light blue and yellow eyes - looking bright turquoise with a dark charcoal limbic ring, my hair is a mix of ash brown, and golden and red highlights now with some grey, its multidimensional so it looks ash brown (deep) but as soon as any light hits it, including indoor lighting it sunlight it looks golden or red in tone. I feel its really difficult to navigate colour analysis when there are naturally so many different colours involved! Your input would be truly amazing!!
I've been watching for a months and still cannot determine the "season" of my friend. She is cool and soft. Her hair is dark cool brown with cool toned highlights. She does not have high contrast of a winter yet her hair is not light like a summer. Would that make her a soft winter and not a summer or is she a dark summer? Very perplexing to me. Thank you!
Your friend sounds similar to Alexandra Gater (she has a YT channel). I think she's a summer because she looks better in lighter colors. When she wears dark makeup & clothes, she looks overpowered by them.
@@kitty_s23456 I looked at Alexandra's photo. My friend's hair has cool toned highlights so she appears softer than Alexandra and her skin tone is neutral. I think she is a summer however, she thinks she looks good in blue red and black which are winter colors.
@@TerryM-u2c if your friend looks good in blue, red & black but is softer than Alexandra, then yes I think she's a dark summer. She can probably use summer colors for everyday wear and try those darker colors (and makeup) for special/ dramatic occasions.
Can someone be summer with hazel (green/brown) eyes? My skin seems to be neutral-cool, light brown hair (was blonde as a kid), and I get the most compliments when I wear midtone blue shades. I'm saving up for a professional analysis, but I'm trying to figure myself out in the meantime.
My hair is medium-dark brown, about 5% gray, with reddish highlights that can be seen in the sunlight. My skin tone is warmish. 2. Mauve as in August. I’m an American. 🇺🇸
I’ve realised I’m a summer. After being typed Winter, then clear and cool, I can’t do the winter jewels nor the icies. Pure white looks better than cream, but I don’t look good in white or black. Taupe, or a purpled grey/brown looks amazing. It was my best drape of the lot, actually. It was called pewter in the CMB tonal system, but I don’t know if anyone else would call it pewter. It’s not a straight grey.
I used to get thrown to the summer wolves all the time. I'm like the ring! The black ring! Look at my eyes it's like the crypt creeper is staring back at you. In my eye color group someone said I look like a zombie. Or Danny Phantom. Or the Chronicles of Riddick. I absolutely died. Those were new ones lol. Or Patrick Bateman is mind numbly staring back at you. If that is all you and you've got a black ring on the outside of your eye summer isn't your vibe. "Ishy" and "black" don't go in the same sentence. That's the distinction lol. Or if you look like a gray undead person of the night in muted colors. 🧛🏻♀️🦇😂
#2. Was told I'm soft summer. Hair, strawberry blonde. Eyes, green with dark blue areola. Jewelry, absolutely cannot wear silver but SOFT and rose gold are beautiful. Skin tone? Definitely fair/light and makeup people say cool, but some say I can be either. Is that even possible? I look at my arms and sheesh, seems pretty red to me. Guess I'll google marigold because all I know is that it's yellow. I'm highly color challenged, but there is a rust that looks great on me and definitely khaki and most browns. Should I give up on summer? It seems that most soft summer colors look good on me.
Almost no one of the celebrities has the correct Blonde.Especialy summers.I have seen so many warm blondes described as a cool. The fact that they are not golden blonde does not make them cool, they are just less warm .To see true original cool blondes we have to look in the past .Lindsay Wagner in the "Bionic Woman " Farrah Fawcet in "Charlie's Angels" Catherine Oxenber in "Dynasty" Julie Christiie in "Heaven can wait" are very good examples of a correct cool Blondes with zero warmth.

Hi Both....I'm from the UK and I pronounce it the same as Lucinda no. 1.
1 !!! Oh, and Lucinda you said summer eyes are cloudy. That is a perfect adjective for them. Better, I think, than the others mentioned.
Mauve is French, so the prononciation is as Lucinda says• it is 1
