  • Walking around Birmingham - New St | Brummies' Memories: Anne Piper Ep. 2 Entertainment | UK 2023
Hello, this is the second episode of Brummies' Memories. This is a project that I've just launched in which Brummies recall their childhood.
The main topics discussed are childhood, school, entertainment and jobs.
In this second episode, we will walk along the Memory Lane of Anne Piper from Ladywood. Her daughter - also named Anne - is narrating on behalf of her mother.

It's interesting this is, even for a non Brummie like me It's still interesting to hear about the life of old Birmingham. My Grandad grew up in Smethwick, Sandwell and one night his brother was ill and all the chemists were shut. His Dad made him get the bus into Birmingham City Centre during the night and go to the only 24/7 chemist there was "nearby", I said to him what on Earth was he sending a lone child on a bus in the middle of the night into a big City for, Grandad said it was ok in those days you didn't have to worry about a thing unlike now. That 24/7 chemist is on the corner of New Street & Bennetts Hill I think it's a gambling shop still but it was previously called Cashino.

Hello CTR Media Walsall, what an interesting story 🙂 Yes, I hear often from older people: it was safer back then. Thanks for watching the video. Have a nice day.
