What's your favourite Christmas market in the UK?
Were going to have a look at Sheffield Christmas Market on Saturday, starts Friday, we've got theatre first can't wait
Birmingham is great for UK, my all time fav is Oslo in Norway, though.
Birmingham, just because I've there 😄
York is lovely
Can't go wrong with Manchester Christmas Market
Watching this as native from Northern Germany, this is pretty authentic. And I've seen many German Christmas Markets over the years. 😄
Birmingham - What an impressive town. Greetings to the UK from Germany.
Birmingham's German Market is authentic and the biggest outside of Germany or Austria as it is run by Frankfurt City Council with Birmingham Council
Thanks for showing what we've got to offer in Brum. I work in the city centre and I enjoy walking through it every year.
I have literally just come back from there in the last 5 minutes, great night out.
I used to go to Birmingham back in my clubbing day, used to go to Central park, Exile and the big club round the corner, can anyone else remember that?
I live inNZ but am from the UK and I will never get used to warm and sunny Christmas's, I think you need the cold dark evenings to appreciate these markets and the atmostphere
I'm from Birmingham I love the German market
:-)
Went to uni in Birmingham and can confirm that the markets are amazing! Really with I was going again this year!
For me the best city to visit
Birmingham is the best love it thanks Tim.. but I am a Brummie, fed up of people slating Brum its an amazing city, thank you for show casing it at this time x
Your welcome jen
the charismas market used to way better imo. There used to be a bunch of individual small businesses but now its basically all the same thing
Jen wing Birmingham next best city to London both cities beat Manchester Liverpool Glasgow and any other cities you can think of in the uk
Exiled Brummie here - makes me very proud of my birth City. Well done Birmingham.
:-)
us brummies hate it.
@@badboybullterriers4104 na it isn't so bad. Could be better but not that bad.
By far the best German/Christmas market in the UK, glad you enjoyed
Agree
Amazing hope we get there safe looks miles better than Yorkshire one Birmingham has definitely gone all out so many things to see this gonna be my birthday present on 26th
Great to see Brum and how it's changed and of course St. Martin's Church where most of my greats were baptised, married etc,. thanx for posting this video!
This was a great video. I have never seen Birmingham's Christmas Market before. It seems much bigger than the York Market I watched on Walk with Me before. Thank you for taking us on these tours. They are greatly appreciated. I can't wait for 'smell-a-vision' to be invented for all those treats you showed us. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
If you like Birmingham and you want to stay and film a truly astonishing hotel.... Try The Grand Hotel on Colmore row and make sure to visit Madeline's bar and the Ballroom. Re-opened 2021 after an 18-year multi-million-pound restoration. The service is as good as the hotel is beautiful.
How things have changed in England since I left 40yrs ago. Just a few light bulbs hanging over the streets and a nativity scene in the town with a Christmas tree. Shop windows were always dressed though. Birmingham really gone for it loved it but seemed expensive. Love the skating rink. Thanks for sharing
you are welcome Norma
Love the Nativity scene ❤️
I live in Birmingham, as much as I love the german markets, it soon becomes anoying walking to work down New Street to the Bullring every day.
Birmingham has changed a lot and it seems a lot more busy especially with all the different entertainment and tourism places.
it has
My gran used to take us to Brum in 60's (bus fare 12½p return for her, 6p return each for us!).
I remember seeing "the Black Church", St. Martin's and thinking it was the Devil's Church.
Then I went back a few years ago, stood by Selfridges (the building with the metal discs covering the outside) on a new terrace, looking down on an unfamiliar Church, freshly cleaned sandstone, beautiful blue clock with gold numbers and hands, and realised with a shock that this was the Black Church of my childhood, with the centuries of soot and dirt and exhaust emissions scrubbed away.
The old Bull Ring is gone, thank goodness, and a new shopping centre, a tram network and the rebuilt and magnificent New Street Station dominates an open, busy piazza.
Stand up comics will still mock Brum as ugly, but they haven't been there.....
was great seeing alll them White people
I live in Shropshire and Birmingham is a lovely city the councils have done so much to make Birmingham a beautiful city. Lovely old buildings stunning.
It keeps changing too. Loads more things coming in the next 10 years too
Great video of Birmingham market it looks so colourful with the lights thanks 👍 look forward to the next Tim Yvonne
I used to take a school trip here from Kent as a languages trip as the stall holders speak German and it was a way I could allow students who didn’t have a passport etc to immerse in German culture and speak some German. Great trip for us adults too!
Very few of the stall holders are German.
True Alex you can speak German as the store holders actually are German for a change but it’s damn expensive though.
They were still setting some of it up on Sunday by the Cathedral (lots of little stalls that used to be on the bridge and Chamberlain square where all the new builds are). The pop up pub there is back again I see..
Love Tim's genuine festive enthusiasm.
After watching your video I made the trip to Birmingham Christmas market enjoy the day cheers mate
Nice hope you had fun bruce
A great vlog as always Tim, Birmingham Christmas market looks amazing and lots to do, it looks beautiful at night too.
Loved this video Tim. Patrick and I have visited the xmas markets in Munich, Nuremburg, Regensburg and Strasbourg over the past few years on our trips back to Europe. They all know how to do xmas Markets. We love them. This one in Birmingham looks fantastic Tim.
Wow!!! thank you for having sharing this Christmas market, I love it!
Missing Brum. Lived there for 13 years. I'm now in Scotland and Edinburgh Christmas market is amazing. The castle, cobblestone roads, the whole scenery and atmosphere during the Christmas holidays makes it even more magical.
Trust me you're not missing much unfortunately it's not the same Birmingham of 20 years ago walking through the city centre these days should be classed as an extreme sport of life and death lol
@@danielcunningham6727 Unfortunately, you're right as I do hear stories from friends there. We moved just in time before it went down to what it is today.
Always has been my favourite too over the years. My how it has changed since the little wooden "sheds" that some of the stall holders used. Brilliant, thank you xx
Awesome Christmas Atmosphere Birmingham . Looks outstanding very well Filmed and also very Informative. Thanks 👍
Birmingham Christmas Market is amazing my favourite I want to go again.
Wow thank you Tim. I only live in Coventry yet never been to Birmingham Xmas Market. Maybe this year I should. Thank you again for a super video, will go on a ride before the mulled wine, excellent heads up. ☺
This is fantastic to see Tim, thanks for doing a video on Birmingham from all us Brummies!
I'm from Birmingham, I live in Bournemouth so I've been to the Christmas markets in both towns numerous times, I've also been to Winchesters.
All have their own plus points, Bournemouth's is beautiful with the gardens all lit up, Winchesters is in the Cathedral close and all that history gives it a wonderful feel but for sheer scale and the detail of the buildings erected for the market Birmingham's is outstanding.
Tim, Great thank you. Amazing I love Brom go every year such a great buzz cheers to you @ Gaby.
Went to the Birmingham Christmas Market a few years ago ,and I live not far so after seeing this I am going to take another visit. Brilliant video mate , well done .
A brilliant Christmas atmosphere at this Birmingham market, from what you've shown on this video. I bet there won't be anything anywhere else in Britain as good as this, and with the grand fair there as well. So colorful and atmospheric. A great presentation, thank you.

What a beautiful and magical market. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for visiting
When you said they sell wooly hats, the automatic captions said they sell willy hats 😂 I just about spit my coffee out
Lol
Definitely on my bucket list of places to visit.
Wow, I grew up in Birmingham, the market has always been big, but this is something else! I used to love the chocolate marshmallow things, so addictive! I still have my Nepalese hats and mittens, they were all the rage in the mid 2000s.
I stayed in the Britannia hotel on a stag do about 7 years ago. It was really weird. Not surprised it is closed
Totally agree Tim. Ice rinks in the festive time should all be like. NYC. I've never been but for that one reason I would. Another amazing video, your do photogenic and the camera loves you. Keep up your AMAZING WORK. X
thanks Elaine
Hello Tim,what a brilliant video, the Christmas market looks amazing, you could easily spend some money, the star flyer is not one for me but it got really high.
I live in West Bromwich and visited the market just before Christmas and enjoyed the ambiance a lot. What to say about your video, a wonderful experience, especially during the snowfall.
I just love a European Christmas market. In Australia, sadly we don't know how to do Christmas. I have been spoiled by visiting some great Christmas markets in France, Germany and Britain. My favourites in England are Winchester and York. Just love them.
Absolute brilliant vlog
I love Birmingham Xmas Market ... I live in Bristol and one here is OK .. I like Cardiff Xmas Market too

Great video i live in Scotland and i was going to go to the Christmas market in Glasgow but they are not having one this year so i can't go but this video makes me feel like i am at one and it looks really great.
Birmingham is the best by far - great video really excited to visit this week now 😀
Hope you enjoy it!
Crickey, surprised to see the Air ride there! Thought they would be all at London's Winter Wonderland. Great video, as usual Tim!
That looked fantastic, and would take some beating.
Wow Tim! That looked fab! I'm going to Bath Christmas Market for the first time in about two weeks ☺️
Thanks Tim,. we're now planning a visit to this market! Sadly my favourite market in Bury St Edmunds has been cancelled for a few years with nothing saying we're ever getting it back. No idea why! So have to look further afield!
Great Vid Tim really enjoyed it can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas again already
I know!!
Hi there, another fantastic video like always. I do really enjoy watching your videos and content learn. Have you put them together keep up the good work
Thanks 👍
that looked so good, never been to a christmas market , maybe one of these days il manage it. i wouldnt be going on that swing thing tho , makes me shiver just watching you do it !
Great Christmas market Tim , my favourite one is Bath Christmas market x
Great video!
I live 10 min walk from the Christmas market, see it every day and it still amazes me nice it is.
Although you did miss the market on St. Phillips Square which is only round the corner from new street
We have a small Christmas Market in Uxbridge, but usually all just food, which I can't see the point of as there are enough place selling food. It looks like this one is similar but bigger and it does look nice.
Wow, I’m from Birmingham (but no longer live there)…it looks great in the video 😂😂. I haven’t been to the Xmas market for ages, but looks nice here. Usually it’s so busy you can’t walk!
Nice One Tim . Wife And Kids Are Going Over Too Germany In Cologne In Two Weeks .
I love your Christmas Markets videos as I live in Western Australia.
Yay! Thank you!
I live in Redditch, just south of Birmingham, never been to the Xmas market, however been to York Xmas market loads and I love it 🥰
Great video. The market does look pretty at night and it's nice to see people out and about. The flying swings I'll have to go visit lol. My only issue is it's just very expensive now. £7 for a sausage .... 😅
Hi Tim lovley walk round our festive markets ....brum has totally changed since I was a child I'm in my 60s I totally don't like hights at all ... thanks ...
Puts Worcester market to shame. Wish you could list or stop and show prices when you roam around. Loved it...
I don't think wild horses would drag me away from the doughnut stall ,they looked delicious ,,a cracking festive vid tim 🍩🎅🎄☃️
Lol thanks Simon
A very vibrant place indeed, Tim 👍🤶
Oh my gosh now that's an awesome market.
Friends in Birmingham love this one. Rochester in Kent is always nice with the Christmas Market 🌲starting 26th November in the shadow of the Castle grounds 🏰with traditional funfair rides and the Dickensian Christmas with all the Dickens characters parading the cobbled streets over the first weekend of December every year. Not on such a grand scale as Birmingham etc but still fun...although it does get really packed! x J x
Sounds good must visit kent
Can definitely recommend Rochester! A very historical town, with the castle and cathedral. The Dickens festival is full-on and the market is traditional, similar to the German markets. My go-to festive treat.
