@@Kurisu545 When you think about it that way, shes was the first character the player controls in FF6 and the representative of the game in the Dissidia series. Hence why she is considered as such.
Terra is technically the bravest of all warriors of light, because she is scarred all the time, of her powers and opponents. She's the civilian in that war. Personally, I love that.
+Contevent That's who Terra is. She's just caught in the middle of all this crap she doesn't care about. Her amnesia made it so she was like a child... not psychologically, but philosophically. She doesn't understand her place in the world, but at least she looks for answers and asks questions, unlike other FF heroes.
interesting that she is also probably the most powerful, maybe representing how the common woman (or man) can be the most important and influential in the grand scheme
Terra Ranger She's not a common person. She's half esper/summon monster. She was also brainwashed and used as a tool for war. Literally the only thing that makes you and OP say she's a civilian is because she doesn't know what she wants or what she's doing in her life.
THEGREATMAX I agree with Terra Rangers. The character may have been turned into a tool for war, much like Celes, but she never embraced it. Her powers are spectacular, but she has no will to fight or hurt people. During the game, once freed, she is just lost and has no intention of hurting anyone, fleeing rather than fighting. She and Gau, who is depressed because he thinks her grandchild is dead, are the only ones who needs to be convinced to fight Kefka after the Cataclysm. The other had other matter to attend to, or knew they couldn't do it alone, but she just didn't want to fight anymore. In that sense, she is a civilian, she isn't warmongering, she doesn't even have a fighting spirit like Laguna do, Laguna who can be argued to be a civilian at heart too. If it wasn't for her powers she didn't ask for, she would be an NPC on the road for the heroes to interact with.

I don't ever remember Terra acting like this in FF6. Yeah she was a little unsure at first but she wasn't like afraid of everything. Plus, she could wear heavy armor in the game.
Now that I think about it.... the only plot hole in FF6 is that Terra's backstory is glossed over. The only things that we, the player, ever know about her, are the things she already knows after the slave crown is removed.... that she was raised in the empire (although they never go into detail who raised her), and that they used her to commit genocide with the slave crown... that's all we know about her. The rest of the game is her going through an existential crisis..... but at LEAST she asks questions and tries to figure things out, unlike some other FF heroes. To a lot of kids who played FF6 back on the SNES, it was a deep game because of all the deep philosophical questions that Terra asked, and because we didn't know what she would ultimately choose. She asked questions like "What is love? Can I love? What is worth fighting for?" and the game actually answers these questions BECAUSE SHE ASKS THEM FLAT OUT Final Fantasy 6 was far more consistent with it's themes than almost any game of the series because of Terra's lack of a real personality other than her existential crisis.... In fact, I'd argue that the way she decides to deal with her existence is what actually defines her as a character and what makes people love her... because other than the choices she makes and what she chooses to do in the game, her character really is a blank slate (since, you know... amnesia). Her amnesia makes her very much like a child, and therefor extremely relatable to anyone who played this game as a kid~
+THEGREATMAX What do you mean? She was taken (more like kidnapped) by the empire as a baby, when the Empire invaded the world of Espers. Although, I have no idea how she could remember that? I think it was the same deal as Celes, she was raised as imperial magitech knight. What I want to know is why did they put a slave crown on her in the first place?
GoldenJoe It's fairly obvious that in the scene where Kefka watches Terra scorch a village... pretty obvious that the slave crown is a new invention at that point. It's being used for the first time, which is why Kefka is going around talking about how great it is that it works. What that means is, the slave crown is relatively new, and they didn't have her wear it every second of every day of her damn life since she was a baby.
GoldenJoe "Now that I think about it.... the only plot hole in FF6 is that Terra's backstory is glossed over.." They don't talk about any of that stuff happening though. From the game and stories perspective, she was 1, and then she was in her 20s and the game started. Her backstory is fucking vague. That's all I was saying, asshole
