Totally agree, we're meant to be selfless in marriage, not self-centered and focused on "working on our selves". We can be self-centered when we're single, but a marriage definitely works when you're selfless and you put the other person first.

Yesss FaceTiming and phone calls were the best when my husband-then-boyfriend and I did long distance (America & South Korea) for a year. Lots of eating breakfast/dinner together for dates 🥰 you really get to know each other well through all the long talks!

As a cancer patient I actually like America’s healthcare system. In other countries, patients have to wait a long time for certain tests, procedures, and treatments and that can be the difference between life and death in the cancer world. I’m incredibly thankful for how quickly we can get things in the US
You dont have to wait for cancer treatment in Australia and it wont make you bankrupt.

Jess, I agree with you saying that your baby has added purpose and confidence. I definitely feel the same. Before I had my son I didn't know my purpose, I wasnt too confident. Since having him I have found my purpose and I will confidently say I am a great mom.

So true what jess said about kids make you love certain parts of yourself that you didn’t before. Like when you realize your daughter has you exact nose and think it’s so perfect and cute on her and you start to wonder why you always though it looked so bad on you

Hospitals in Australia have their own rules. Some allow partners to stay and others don’t. It has nothing to whether you are at a private or public hospital.

I live in the land down under we too have the occasional kangaroo near our home but they are plentiful in the nearby bushland and we live 25km from one of the major cities. I am surprised Jess didn't mention the very dangerous drop bears and hoop snakes! 🤣🤣
I think she was trying not to scare them too much. Hahaha I’ve been there and loved it and would return for sure!!!

The sweetest 2 ladies of internet in one podcast 🥰
My husband and i knew eachother from childhood..he was 5 and i was 3..but then we moved to different countrys and after many many years we met by accident at youth conference when i was 16 and he was 18..from there we texted eachother and started dating for 3 years long distance relationship..weve been married for 9 years now and have 4 children:) it is possible if u really want it..i always remember my husband would tell me before flying back home that there will be a time when we'll look back and say oh remember we used to say good bye and lesve for another 6-8months without seeing eachother..that would make me cry so much because when ur in that moment u want it now but true love waits and it waits patiently
Our kids have been homeschooled and in the public school system. Hands down, no questions about it, when we homeschool they get more socializing. We meet with three different school groups 3 times a week, plus our church group. We have a broader, bigger, social group when homeschooling than when going to public school.

32:04 The jellyfish that Gabe is talking about is an Irukandji jellyfish. They are extremely tiny and can kill due to the symptoms from the sting (cardiac complications). They are found in Northern Queensland! Where I’m from in the stinger season of November to May they are everywhere and you can either only swim in patrolled (swept every day) nets at the beach or in a full wetsuit known as a stinger suit. Also every patrolled beach has vinegar in an accessible place so if you are stung you can neutralise the spot. It’s pretty intense but stings are pretty rare! 😅 It’s still very safe to swim and not a “everything’s trying to kill you” situation.
When I first moved to Townsville from Tassie, I was so confused by the stinger nets and vinegar at the beach!! Wild times 🤣

Finding your meaning in being selfless is TOTALLY the key to happiness. 100% agree. Especially when both have the same commitment to the Lord as Christians. We are in our 9th year of marriage and I am more in love than the day we got married, and that love grew after two kids. It’s awesome

I’m American, and it’s so funny when they start talking about the accents because my long distance best friend is half-British/half-Australian (he grew up in Bristol, England), and we make fun of each other’s accents constantly 😂
The fact that she was actually pregnant and didn’t know it is wild (I think they didn’t know it if it’s before December 19th) 😂
