    I just got this car a week ago and I love it!!!!! I don’t know what he’s talking about.. the look is amazing, the steering is fire, the 2 screens in lit, the technology in the Q60 is awesome. People can hate on this car all they want, but I love it.

    Bought the Q60 Red Sport, and left out the Direct Adaptive Steering. And car is great. Traded in my G35. The difference is Night and Day. I never take into consideration apple car play or android Auto when looking at a car performance, I care for the driving experience, I recommend people try it for themselves, and you won't be disappointed.

    Had a Q50 redsport and now a Q60 red sport, both are awesome cars. I Love the DAS, very quick, very precise, no hand fatigue on long trips. Whenever I drive our other standard steering cars, I hate them. DAS has won me over. The engine is fantastic, gobs of power throughout the whole power range. This is a very quick, very comfortable car. Is it a sports car - no, its a grand tourer and its great at it. It is also one of the best looking cars out there, certainly the best looking in its price class. I'll be keeping my Q60 for a very long time.

    I've been driving my Red Sport 400 since January and I think the handling is amazing. They must have done some tuning because the steering doesn't feel numb at all, and the handling is outrageous with AWD. The adaptive steering means that the computer figures out some of the steering angles better than you can, not to mention that it largely self steers until you get to a tight enough curve but even then the computer will still manage steering angles. I don't miss steering wheel jarring or shaking *at all*.
    The engine is strong, even suprising you because it's so smooth. I've been pretty happy mashing the pedal now that it's been broken in.
    Again, I have not seen as good of an interior from the Germans which to me comes across as boring and impersonal .
    With the technology package, the car will manage the speed, brakes, and steering for you on long highway drives. It's fun to cross your arms and watch the car lane keep. I no longer dread long trips, now it's just fun and much less of a drag.

      I know right. The Q60 is an awesome car. Good thing that most consumers either don't watch these discouraging reviews, or they know better not to believe these German/American car lovers/reviewers. And yes, their tone is very different when they bash, I mean review, Japanese cars.

    If I'm buying a sports coupe I'm buying it for the DRIVING experience. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are secondary concerns to the driving experience. I appreciate Michael's comments on the adaptive steering. If I buy the car I'd stick to the standard steering.
    Overall when the performance, price and appearance are taken into consideration this is one of the best buys on the market today in its segment.

    I just bought my 2017 q60 3.0T premium. I feel like most reviews are bashing too much on this car.. As an owner I think this care is so dam nice and fast enough. This car I feel is sexier then BMW 3 and 4 series which has a boring look.

    Agressive vibrations through the wheel? That's called a lot of power in a coupe. All this guy does is complain.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад +2

      No, it's not from the power. It's from the electronic steering correction attempting to keep you on what it *thinks* is the proper line. This happens when maintaining consistent speed through a corner, not when applying power. I'm not going to apologize for bringing up issues that people could and should be concerned about. That's my job.

    I actually had a Mercedes coupe before I purchased my red sport 400 awd. In my opinion it's the best looking coupe out there and the engine is a absolute monster. But they did miss a couple things that I have forgiven infinity for because the looks and performance are great and the are active exhaust, power folding mirrors, cooled seats, and launch control. It's a sports car so the exhaust is the one I wanted the most but on a side note the engine is a really nice sounding unit it never sounds strained and the aftermarket is making massive horsepower gains out of these with exhaust, intake ,and tune they are getting Gtr numbers. If you are a person looking for a coupe it's a must drive.

    Enjoyed the review. Very fun, yet informative. Lovely car and dog. It's too complicated for me. Seriously. I set the height and steering wheel rake and reach the first time I drove it and haven't touched it in 11,000 miles. I'd never fool around with the other things, especially after you've explained they're mostly pointless.

    My 400 is on the boat right now....this is such a great combination of looks, power, handling, and technology. The ability to basically self drive is a big draw for me. It's livable and reliable to boot. This is probably the best value for this level of 400hp and AWD. The interior is fabulous and way more attractive than everyone else. I didn't notice any downside to the steering except for a little numbness turning from a stop, but I don't really care as it's super comfortable and has great feedback otherwise. It's funny because there have been zero overall bad reviews except for this one. The only issue people seemed to have was the steering but that is a just a firmware flash away from being changed.

    • @BenzandBimmer
      @BenzandBimmer 7 лет назад +1

      At the 400 price point you could have gotten a C43/C450, which is lightyears better in ride and performance. I have a G37 and was waiting on Q60, then I saw it and drove directly to Mercedes. I've been very loyal to the brand up until 2016. The 2017 Q60 needs an upgraded interior.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад +1

      I hope this didn't come across as a "bad review". Definitely not my intent. I just don't think the 400 is the best bet in the segment.

    • @Dn12011
      @Dn12011 7 лет назад +2

      The Q50 Red Sport has already outperformed most of the C43/C450 test numbers based on individual testing of both cars by auto mags. In addition, it's the same for the 340i, Jaguar XE-S, S4, IS350, ATS, or any other car in this particular segment.
      And we are not simply talking 0-60, although the Q50RS is among the leaders in this segment. But, 5-60, 0-100, 60-0, 1/4...where the Q50RS fall short against its competitors is on the skid pad and subjectively, in feel.
      The Q60 will likely sing the same song, and probably improve the skid pad performance.

    • @thegiggler2
      @thegiggler2 7 лет назад +1

      The review was high quality, I think the car fits with a lot of the segment buyers' needs. Picked it up tonight from the dealer, it's a sweet ride. The steering is perfectly calibrated and I can't tell it's not mechanical. I'm going to enjoy this whip for years.

    The problem with the red sport is its less sports car than the G37. You cannot get a LSD for the rear which is mind boggling for that much torque, and not manual transmission option. Would take all the competitions sporty offerings over this lazy automatic. Also it's very heavy for the class. Just a let down. No idea why they focus on Direct Wire Steer in a "sports car" where you want feel and steering input.

    • @swanblake
      @swanblake 7 лет назад

      Michael Perkins no I agree. Really the one thing that is lacking in the tech area is apple carplay/android auto as you stayed. Given this segments demands though for more of a gt than a sports car, the 3.0T should fit the bill quite nicely. I just like my manuals hahaha

    Great Review, Michael! I just fell in love with the styling of the Q60 when I first saw the redesign! It just has a very striking look to it, and just looks so sophisticated and modern!
    Unfortunately, Infiniti definitely needs to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, based off of your review it seems as if Infiniti got the styling down pat, but definetly has some kinks to work out when if comes to technology and the overall refinement of the vehicle.
    Honestly, the Q60 actually opened up my eyes to Infiniti, as it was sort of getting slowly forget, in the sea of other luxury automakers... at least to me. Nevertheless, great review! Keep up the great work!

      Not many cars in this particular entry luxury segment offer Apple Car Play or Android Auto. It will be nice they did, but these options are not a deciding factor for many buyers in this segment.
      They are offered in mainstream cars because the competition is much more plentiful and fierce.

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven 7 лет назад +1

      It isn't necessarily a deciding factor, but are definitely options and amenities to consider.... For example, just look at it like the following scenarios.
      If a car has a 9-inch touchscreen or a 10-inch touchscreen both are good and won't be deal breakers, but the 10-inch screen will just edge out the other vehicle slightly in size. Another example can include, a lit up glove box or an unlit glove box both aren't deal breakers, but are nice amenities to have.....
      At the end of the day though they would all be good amenities and options that "without" wouldn't ruin the car, but "with" will just edge it out over its competitors in the slightest respects. All of the little details add up and may result in a car edging out another car by far, in some respects.
      Thanks for replying, though! When I review cars on my channel, DriveAndBeDriven, I look for the little details and point them out because you never know.... What may not be a deal breaker for one person may be a deal breaker for another! ;-)

    • @Dn12011
      @Dn12011 7 лет назад +2

      No doubt...I agree with you.
      However, the Q60/Q50 are critiqued most of these reviews as not having Car Play or Auto, but it has not been mentioned during those critiques that not all of its competitors (3 Series, C-Class, Jaguar XE, ) do not offer them as well. I believe the Audi A/S 4/5, Lexus IS, and Caddy ATS do or just recently added them.
      That is my bone to pick with these reviews...balance the critique against its competitors, not isolated to what should be offered.

    • @DriveAndBeDriven
      @DriveAndBeDriven 7 лет назад +1

      Rod H., I agree! If you are going to mention a problem you should definitely relate back to its competitors, so the consumer/viewer, can see the trade-off's they are getting by choosing a specific vehicle. Also, it will further ensure the viewer makes the right interpretation of a vehicle....
      Like you said many other competitors don't offer Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto while others do. AndroidAuto and Apple CarPlay do seem to be trickling up to the more luxury brands a little slower than the mainstream brands out there, though.....
      I personally actually want to review one of these coupes on my channel! Hopefully, it will happen sooner than later! Thanks for replying! ;-)

    My favorite feature about my Q50 hybrid is Direct adaptive steering, I was scared of it for the first 2 weeks but gotten use to it, now I don't think I can go back to hydraulic steering. Too primitive!

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      Hard to consider communicative feel as primitive.

    • @DrBrainrape
      @DrBrainrape 7 лет назад

      Michael Perkins it gets rid of all unnecessary bumps through hydraulic steering, this is much welcomed in real world driving. Imagining not needing to readjust the wheel over every bump on a 5 hour drive. Steering is also aggressively faster in sport modes. Once you've been driving this car for months driving a hydraulic only car feels primitive.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      A lot of people don't consider those bumps unnecessary! I drove it for around 20 hrs total over the week I had it, I just didn't like it. Felt too numb, and the steering was TOO aggressively fast in that it just ramped up to quickly for a natural feel.

    • @Dn12011
      @Dn12011 7 лет назад +1

      Some people like it, others love it..conversely many don't.
      But it does introduce a new driving sensation, not relying on road feel through the steering wheel, but more on the eyes and acute attention ...those who've come to appreciate DAS have found that it requires becoming more in-tuned with the whole car to get that exhilarating driving sensation.
      I like to think that DAS eliminates the middle man (steering inputs) and introduces sixth-sense like sensation. But, that's not for everyone who likes the old road feel...in that since, it is primitive.

    • @DrBrainrape
      @DrBrainrape 7 лет назад

      +Rod H. Excellent point, it removes the distractions in the roads such as uneven pavement and potholes. Rather letting you feel the accents of steering the car. I wish they would offer it on more cars once you've driven it for a while you get used to it.

  • @ndk2k4
    @ndk2k4 7 лет назад +2

    people keep hating on DAS.... for a daily driver its incredible. Yes, if you want to track the car, it can be boring and annoying, but who is tracking a $65,000 luxury coupe?

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      It's not about tracking, it's about safety and feel. Having the steering wheel fight you and buzz in your hands and "correct" your line, even just driving down the highway at 60 isn't fun or safe.

      A Littlefin The problem is that many of these problematic features are bundled with options you otherwise would want. Which means you're basically being fleeced by Infiniti for bad technology. Turning everything off doesn't excuse the poor implementation.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      If I'm just going to turn it off, why pay for it?

    • @Dn12011
      @Dn12011 7 лет назад

      Because that is a choice that is afforded to you. There may be times when the nannies will have there benefit.
      When you want to play a little, one button...press it, and it turns them all off...sans one. That's the Active Lane Trace. That takes a little more effort by going into the main menu. But, disable ALC at your own peril...things could get a bit dicey the moment you disrespect the power delivery.
      As for the nannies being turned on, the driver still needs to be all the way involved. The systems are really aggressive and may make decisions a driver normally may not make. Cool, stay involved and you can quickly override the systems with your own evasive inputs. And there are pre-sets that gives the driver limited choices as to how far the distance is before the car reacts to the car in front of it (and the one in front of that car).

    hmm, the issue is a fully loaded red sport will run you 64K - 66K and seeing as 60% of these coupes (according to infiniti) leave the show room floor fully loaded that gives many of the Q60 buyers the option to get an RCF or ATS V both of which offer better interiors, superior performance, and higher end material quality (less injection mold and more leather / carbon)

    listened to your review and I have to add these comments.the tires that come standard are garbage . switched tires and went with a 20 inch mag setup from Infiniti used the winters with the original mags and bought new winter tires as well . since I made this move the car handles like it's on rails. all I can say is this is the nicest car by far for the money . the quickest and by far less expensive than anything in this performance category. and yr thing about confusing combinations well that lasts about a week and then you feel very comfortable with every setting. This car is a total thrill,I make excuses to get into the red sport which I own in red with white leather thank you very much and could not be happier and for all those who are on the devising line take this car out on the highway

      It certainly shines on the highway. Getting a bit more traction with those new tires?

    What do you MEAN red calipers are "PROBABLY" where the extra power comes from?! It's been scientifically proven that red brake calipers not only offer less unsprung weight, they also channel air flow onto the individual wheel rotation thereby ADDING energy to the motion. Dyno tests results have shown up to 7bhp per wheel is gained, depending on the differential of the staggered fitment of the wheels.
    ...look it up.
    "Probably", hmmph!

    I have a q50 and totally disagree with all these reviews thst don't like the two screens. It's great top for nav and bottom for everything else. Makes sense. Rather than one screen constantly having to switch.. Also the variable steering drive by wire is a little weird st first but after a week you don't notice it... Yeah bmw and Mercedes prob better options but much more expensive and the upkeep is much more. INFINITI ALL THE WAY

      Brembo Z every time I look at a review for this car I see people in the comments section saying I HOPE THIS ENGINE WILL BE IN THE NEW Z no fuck that! The z is shit dead, gone if Nissan were to take the same body style on this like they did on the qx80 and made it there own I think no body whould buy it it would mess up the sales and no body would forgive them

    All what he has just said is irrelevant. Have a look at Infiniti sales, it speaks for itself. Their best selling vehicle was the QX60 and the Q50 is now the number one seller with the same setup as the Q60. Please help me to comprehend, why are people still buying a vehicle that you have claimed that is not good?

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      Let's start with the fact that I never said it wasn't good. But I would also offer that sales and quality are not a direct correlation. Regardless, I said the the Red Sport might be a little overpriced for what you get, and that the middle trims offer better value.

      Monrowe Toussaint...Simple. Most consumers, thank goodness, don't bother watching these anti-Japanese car reviews. Consumers know not to trust these biased reviewers and actually go to the dealership to test drive their options. Not being racist, but when you see a white guy reviewing cars, they will be discouraging when they review Japanese cars, and will be encouraging when they review American or European cars. Example...When a Japanese car is composed and quiet, they would say it's boring and not sporty. But when an American or European car is quiet and composed, they would say it's luxurious and comfortable, LOL. Now, when a Japanese car has a firm or tight suspension, they would say the ride is harsh, noisy, and intrusive. But when an American or European car is tuned to be more firm, they would say that it's fun to drive, sporty, and exhilarating, LOL. It's all about the adjectives, hahahahaha.

      Alex Simply saying you're not being racist doesn't mean you're not being racist. Check out the many positive reviews of Japanese cars I've done.

      An automotive review has to be done on an equilibrium platform, where the customer can get a true understanding on what the brand is offering on that specific model in question. The review has to contain unbiased information such as safety, instrumental practicality, built quality, running cost, handling and comfort. When this information is construed with favoritism, the customer gets misleaded and the brand gets negative publicity and this has to stop.

      I support your comments 100%. They also tend to make themselves pass like fools because they always say its a great car at the end of their reviews but for 95% of the review they are bashing the vehicle. lol

    ...the "A" pillar flow into the front fender/hood area seems a bit oddly "thick".

    • @vincefernandez9459
      @vincefernandez9459 7 лет назад +1

      Its like the designers insisted on carrying the belt line through to the headlight instead of letting dissolve naturally into the front fender, like normal sports cars. This creates a sort of unaesthetic "muffin top" effect.

  • @chigasaki06

    Agreed. Infinity has moved away from sporty dynamics. They put a beautiful engine into a sub-par vehicle. No limited slip diff, the transmission can't keep up with the engine, so the shifts are lazy, particularly with the paddle shifters, and the steering (D.A.S) still sucks. They tried to create a wonder of technological advancement, but ended up with a car in which a driver is unsure if he/she is driving or if the car is driving. All of this crap has made Infinity loose sight of what's important, which is just making a great handling vehicle. Lastly, they don't really have that much of a price advantage anymore. They G35 - G37 are better vehicle dynamically.

    • @MikeDPerkins
      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад +1

      I don't really understand why everyone complains about the transmission. No, it's not a dual-clutch, but it gets the job done just fine.

      @MikeDPerkins 7 лет назад

      chigasaki06 You're absolutely right. That said, I think people going for the Q60 are really looking for luxury/comfort before ultimate performance. I think they went with low-speed drivability over performance.
