Never thought I’d say that a pink guitar would be so stunning but this one is gorgeous and the sound is so much better than before. Firebird guitars have definitely up there game and challenging the upper brands to make a great guitar at this price and Jimmy you are absolutely showing us what these guitars are capable of by playing so beautifully and with such excitement. Well…they certainly have done some interesting finishes, but they did do many “traditional” finishes as well including black, matte black, white, sunburst, honey burst, Cherry Burst, Goldtop, red, blue, green, etc…etc…I would like to see a “lemon drop” and they did have something close a couple years ago…anyway…thanks so much for watching and commenting. I will put a bug in their ear for ya…🎸👍

Jimmy Firefly and IYV are really making some great affordable guitars as of late. Not to say that the others aren't good, but these last few videos, they have taken it to another level. I really love that flawless finish even though pink would not be my first choice. Are you going to turn to the dark side of LP style? lol I kid. Thank you for letting us know about these gems. They certainly have a lot of great colors to choose from. Also, it would be awesome if you could find the time to upload some of your backing tracks for us at home to jam to. Quick question man, did you happen to notice what those pot values were? That was too dark for me in the neck, I'm wondering if it needs pots or pups.

Thanks for the review.. it’s tempting to buy one. However, I bought 7 fire flys during the pandemic. Sadly only 3 were playable and worth keeping. I was told by a guitar tech that the LP gold top was not new and needed re-fretting. Shame on Fire fly for selling a used guitar as new!!
Hi luizvelazquez1113…thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry to hear that only 3 of your 7 Firefly’s were playable? Not doubting you, but just find that hard to believe. I have bought around 15 or so now, since my 1st in 2018 and have yet to receive one that was unplayable. Some needed more setup or had a few more cosmetic defects than others, but none that required anything more than a few tweaks and all playable out of the box. As far as some guitar tech saying something was not new and needed re-fretting, what was this opinion based on? Fret wear? I have 2 LP’s from the 1st batches, been playing them off/on since 1st released in late 2019 and early 2020 and the frets still look like new. Newer models now have stainless frets…I don’t know, like all budget guitars (even much more expensive ones) some “lemons” will certainly get through but 3 of 7 is unacceptable or really, REALLY bad luck of the draw…

That sounds absolutely fantastic, even if it does remind me of Pepto Bismol with humbuckers. If you speak with George again, can you find out when their next batch of Strat-style guitars will be back in stock? I just missed out on the last batch, and the urge is strong.

Hey Michael…truly appreciate your stopping in and commenting. I had a couple of different “patches” dialed up on my Ampero One Modeler…don’t really remember what I had included in each patch…some with o’drive, delay and compression and a touch of reverb as I recall. All was via the Ampero One

At the top of the home page you will see Tabs set up for their different models that are currently available. I have a FireFly black elite, a FfLP gold top, a Ff spalted maple 338 semi hollow and a FF rosewood acoustic. I am happy with all of them but I’ve decided to pass at trying to sample all the colors. I enjoyed your Led Zeppelin “How many more Times “ riff. I purchased mine in 2021. Are you saying the sound has improved since then?

What has happened with the recent batches is FF has gone to including stainless steel frets with ball ends, upgraded hardware (Korean) along with Alnico 5 pickups being included now as they roll out the updated models. Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel and sharing! Keep pickin’….🎸👍

Hey FoodFolksandGuns…thanks for watching and commenting! I have quite a few “budgets” in the arsenal myself…😎 I anticipate having to “thin the herd” at some point myself. The lock….yes, I got it from Amazon. Just do a search for “biometric indoor locks” and you will see a selection. Mine was around $100 as I recall…comes with battery back-up cable and works from the “Smart Life” app for your phone. Built like a tank too!! I'm wondering what it looks like under the truss rod cover? My several Fireflys are pretty rough under the covers, very crudely cut out.
Hi Jimmy…thanks so much for watching and commenting! I have done a couple of truss adjustments on a few Firefly’s over the years and haven’t really noticed any issues per say. @@JimmyStewart1 i have a question for you. Totally off subject. The door knob with the thumb print capability, what brand is that and does it have an app for your cell phone and or Alexa? Both my wife and I are interested in that type of door knob. What are your thoughts/concerns and would you recommend it? I value you imput as you have a very honest approach to guitars. Thank you.

It’s a Tsukiko lock. I like tech and toys and this has been great for the studio. Be aware these are “indoor” locks. They work with the “Smart Life” app for your phone, both IOS and Android. Very easy to install and setup. 4 AA batteries required for lock, but has fingerprint, password code, and keys with a cable to hook up battery backup should internal batteries die. Low battery warning, etc…still on my original set since Feb. Yes, you can also use with Alexa via voice control but you need to buy the lock with the wi-go gateway. $120 with the gateway for Alexa use, $100 for non. It’s a good lock…works great…built sturdy!!

Dude this video just made me want a firefly lp even more, thank you. One question tho, how do i know if a model i want is "elite" or not, because its not implied in the guitars garden website on any their lp guitars.
Hi Spike…thanks for watching and commenting. Usually on the LP models, it will say on the headstock truss cover “Elite” or “Classic”. Sometimes though, even without the truss cover, you can tell from the binding on both sides, up the neck, fret markings starting at the 1st fret vs the 3rd fret. These days, not a ton of difference as they are now starting to put stainless steel frets on all their guitars. If you are looking at the “current” batch of LP’s be sure it says “stainless steel frets” in the description as there could still be some older models in inventory. If it doesn’t say it, then they are probably not! Hope that helps a bit, and thanks so much for stopping into the channel! 🎸👍

Unfortunately, at this time they only ship to the US and only the lower 48 (no Hawaii or Alaska). Hopefully at some point in the future…🤞
Your best bet in Europe for a decent budget LP would either be Monoprice or Thomann (Harley Benton).
Upgraded pickups meaning alnico 5 instead of ceramic magnets?

I know they are going to Alnico 5’s eventually across all their models, and the latest Tele’s now have them. When I do the setup, I am going to pull the neck pup and have a look. Communication is sometimes “spotty” but expect to hear shortly. I will certainly advise as to what I hear back. I know their plan is to include Alnico 5’s in all models but don’t know if these made the change or not…I suspect they did, but still want to “confirm”! Appreciate your stopping in to the channel! 🎸👍
Just heard back from Firebird Music, and the pickups are ceramic’s in this batch. The next batch of LP’s will have Alnico 5’s…as I said, they sound good regardless and are a upgrade from the previous batches.

Is the neck really 23.89mm or .941 inches at the first fret? That's really thick.
Hi John…well, I measured with the strings on, so take another 1.5 to 2.5mm off that total for string height at 1st fret. So right around 22mm would be more accurate. It’s a 60’s slim neck…feels very good. It’s not a “baseball bat” style neck like on my 54 Gibson.

I really enjoy your Videos and Playing! Do you feel this guitar is good for a Beginner and if so what about setup ? I live in a rural area with no guitar shops to do a setup for me and I'm looking for a good entry level electric to start that I can play out of the box. Any help greatly appreciated!

As you can see and hear, this guitar review and demo is “right out of the box”…just tuned and played! I have found most of my FF guitars to be pretty good, with little to no big adjustments needed. Of course, most guitars bought on line have NOT gone through a setup like you would find by buying at a music store, so some tweaks can and should be expected, but in most cases, it’s quite easy to adjust if needed. I have a number of set-up videos here on the channel and plenty others on RUclips as well. I think for a beginner, you would be just fine! The new LP’s like this one are a LOT of guitar for the $$….hope that helps and thanks again for stopping into the channel! 🎸👍

I will never be able to play like you but hopefully well enough to have some fun at home. I enjoy all the 60's and 70's you play. Thank You for taking the time out to get back to me. I will look at your setup videos. I have been looking at the Ivy 300, FFLPS, Mitchell 540, Xavier Pro 500 - just trying to figure out which one will be the BEST for a New Player.

Thanks so much man…it’s never to late to start my friend!! Good for keeping your mind sharp…dexterity in the hands…and also just plain fun too!! Any of those guitar brands you mention will be about the same In quality/playability really. I have a couple of different “budget” LP’s here on the channel including the FF, IYV, Monoprice as well. You get more finish choices from Firefly. IYV also makes the Mitchell (GC house brand) along with some of the Harley Benton models. Good luck in your quest, and have a look at some of my LP reviews and comparisons when you get the chance. Gives you a little better look/listen between them! 🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 Jimmy, I spent the last hour watching your IYV 300 Greenie and Relic 300 and they both look nice too. All of these are basically about the same price point. Not sure which one would be the best fit out of the Box between all of these. YES, I want to keep my mind sharp (learning), dexterity in my hands and I felt this would be a really good way to do that too along with some fun! Thanks, Dean

They have improved a LOT in the past year as well….still, having the guitar in hand vs the pic is a much more rewarding experience…🎸👍
@@JimmyStewart1 Just saw that they have a new acoustic/electric drop, I'm getting the 12 string, and pissed (pissed I tell you ) that they don't have the comfort carve for that one. but like you say,... one in the hand! Also notice that they apparently sold out one of the Strats. Gotta keep my on on them, never know when somethings going to change Have a good one!

I just bought a FFTL Firefly style guitar. The one that is white with red pick-ups, locking tuners, alnico five pick-ups, roasted maple neck, Stainless steel Fretts, for 200 hundred dollars, ahhhh Yeah! PS The only thing I do not like is the firefly logo, I wish they would change it to , well a real firefly that is glowing green, lol

To each their own. The right pink guitar is awesome but this one is hideous imho. Red, pink, black and gold. It's just too much.☺☺☺. With that said, it seems to play nice and sound nice and brought out a proper song in Jimmy (with singing and everything) so I would say it's the right pink guitar for him. ☺☺☺. Nobody expects top of the line hardware/electronics on a budget guitar. Part of the reason they can keep the cost down. Actually, it’s quite playable and the hardware/electronics function quite well. You could if you wanted, replace all the hardware, pickups and pots/wiring, etc with whatever you like. This guitar is actually very well equipped for the price IMHO. Appreciate your stopping in! 🎸👍

Hi Jimmy, have you any links to where you got that Prince madcat copy from. I'm from the UK and it's pretty tough to track anything down. We don't get much options over here.
Hi Anthony…the MadCat is also from Firefly guitars and came from the same place www.guitarsgarden.com. Unfortunately they are currently not available, but should be soon. The other issue is they don’t ship to the UK.
You could try the Thomann Harley Benton version, though I don’t think it is quite as nice as the Firefly. Hope that helps…🎸👍

Yeah…plus the new version MadCat from Firefly has stainless frets, ball ends and Alnico 5 pickups as well. They have talked about trying to expand shipping to other countries in the past, but right now it’s still just a “possible plan”. A new batch of MadCat’s should be arriving shortly….you have any friends/relatives visiting the States who could buy and bring back across the pond? 😎

Wow, for sure that guitar is PINK! Pepto-Bismol should sue Firefly! Most people don't know that a guitar's color, affects its tone. Green ones sound better than pink ones.😂 I really dislike those knobs. When I get a guitar with them, the first thing I do is replace them at "wdmusic" (I can't put "d*t c*m", because if I do, RUclips will immediately delete the comment. Nice, right?!!). The ones I replace them with are the old kind, usually amber. They still have numbers on them, but I think numbers on volume and tone knobs are actually useless, since there are no marks on the guitar bodies, so you know what number you are on. 🤣 If you want someone good to copy, do Bo Diddley. I doubt there would be a Jimi Hendrix without the blues and rock pioneers like him, you know that. You can attach cords and pullies from a Les Paul to the ceiling, and then its weight won't bother you at all!! 🥲

Knobs…a unnecessary evil. I think in the past 40 years, I only changed knobs on 2 guitars…one where the original knobs were old and cracked then broke off…I used the vol post without a knob for years before replacing it with a larger knob from a old amp…the other being my Brian May copy cause it really needed billeted aluminum knobs. 🤣
Sorry about the Hendrix thing…somehow the Pink LP just sent me into my younger years…all I could think of was early Jeff Beck, Hendrix and Page…blasphemy!
