I just want to know which model of the Fire Fly Les Paul looking model is the best quality playing model overall?

  • @DarBru-y3f

I had a 79 LP Custom and it had the hump on the neck.
Great guitar, i just bought 1 on marketplace. Mine is the orange series and very impressed by it. Love it!

It’s a volute, Gibson has them on some models and other manufacturers incorporate it on their guitars as well. It was used as a way to combat against neck weakness in that area of the neck where breaks occur most often.
    Cool guitar I want one…

    • @WunHitWonder
      @WunHitWonder 9 месяцев назад

They're nice guitars for the money, tbh. Beautiful finishes, play well (once set up). Mine arrived with scratchy frets I had to polish, a dry fretboard I oiled back to life, and some white paste on the freboard/body. I'm assuming the paste was a wax or finishing compound of some sort. That said, I am not taking anything away from how nice they are for the price. They just need to be gone over once opened. For the money, they are hard to beat. Some of their LP models even have heel contours.

the heel stock on the neck is call a veloute it makes the neck stronger

  • @ubermac85

The “bump” is a volute. It’s how the headstock is strengthened to prevent it snapping off at the angle. It’s actually a very good thing.

Firefly guitars & Firebird Music out of China have been around for quite a while now. I have one of the early Firefly FF338 guitars that I bought several years ago and, I still play it a lot.

My father has bought 12 FF guitars over the last two years.
He buys them to give away as gifts.
Most end up just being wall hangers.
But a few have been modded and are being played out live at gigs and they're pretty decent especially for the money spent.
    I'm not much into modding.
I'd personally rather spend the bigger bucks and have exactly what I want.
Like my Schecter SLS Elite FR S Evil Twin
    Neck through design
    Black satin finish
    Floyd Rose 1,500
    Fishman Fluence
    Sustaniac
Carbon fiber reinforcement rods in the neck
    SS frets
    Ebony fretboard
And like the guitar you have here, it also has a volute.
It's the most amazing shred guitar I've ever had.
But this Bat FF is serious cool.
I'd consider modding one for sure.

    • @bluesguy

Hey happy for your purchase like Joe bomanassa says. "They're tools" so if you've found the right tool for what you need great to hear! I have never personally owned a Schechter but I hear they are superb quality. After having some time with this firefly. I can see there is some appointments that are missed. The pickup quality is sub par. And I'm getting a little buzz even tho the neck is setup perfect so that means the neck pocket is not 100% right. They're in more of a rush then the higher end companies haha. Please subscribe if haven't yet!

    • @nvjohansson9741
      @nvjohansson9741 11 месяцев назад +1

There's really not much to mod. If you get a good, solid body with a decent neck, change the tuners and put the pickups. It'll cost about 300 bucks in an hours work.
At this point you're not going to get a much better guitar paying 5x the price.

Yeah man, nothing wrong with a volute! For those of you who might knock over your set neck guitar, it offers additional support! Firefly, is awesome! I mean, so MAYBE you have to do a little bit of fret work for 200 dollars? Or however much that LP Custom style guitar was? You often have to do some fret work on guitars costing THOUSANDS! (Yes, the big G) Is that a Lead 12? Personally I'm not sold on "Bat" inlays & would prefer block. But still man, that's a pretty groovy guitar! Oh yeah, I have a Firefly LP JR DC with a tune o matic instead of a wrap around & it's awesome! I traded it straight up for an Orange Micro Terror I paid 105 dollars for! Every time I play it, it blows my mind how nice it is!

The neck heel is at the body, that "ramp" at the peghead is a volute, Gibsons and Epis dont have them. The Fireflies all have neck scarf joints, they're not one piece necks.
FF would definitely ship with a broken switch, their inspection standards are quite low, the sell and ship near junk along with the good ones.
    You get it for free?

It's easy to confuse the two.
Gibson may have in the past used a scarf in the construction of their necks.
These days it's a solid piece.
However, they do glue the outer edges of the head stock on as to not require such a large blank of wood in the necks construction.
The length of the neck can be multiple pieces of wood but the head stocks are milled as part of the overall length.
To be honest, I literally saw a video here on RUclips yesterday of a content creator getting a tour of the Gibson USA factory in Nashville.
They showed in detail the process.
      It's quite informative and entertaining.
      ~Cheers~
