  • When I got the Sportster it ran so poorly that it couldn't be ridden. In this video I replace the intake manifold gaskets and get it running well enough to ride, and ride it for the first time. It still needs some work, but at least it can be ridden now.

    Removing the tank and having a good look and clean also cut the Allen key into a inch long and turn with a spanner older bikes might need heat on the bolts.

      Normally how often do you replace them. How did you determine that one o ring was bad ?

    Even after torquing the flange bolts down for the intake manifold, the manifold was still moving around a lot. Would this continue to cause a vacuum leak or does it sometimes move around after greasing new seals?

      It will still be able to move a little until it's been run for a few minutes. It shouldn't have any vacuum leaks. It'll be easy to position it to bolt up the backing plate. Once it has been run for a few minutes, the heat will thin out the grease, and it'll ooze out. Then the seals will stick in place and it won't move.

      @@fenrizwulf6682 Thanks man. I put it back together yesterday and was feeling a little worried about that. I didn’t even try turning it over until today. Runs better than ever. I appreciate guys like you up here on RUclips taking time out of your day helping the world out. Good people

    How did you get the bracket for the horn off?

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  2 месяца назад

      It's just a couple of bolts. Sometimes they're pretty tight, and they have locktite on them from the factory, so a long wrench or ratchet helps.
