I like the joke there.
im not keyboards are 5 volts modern ones any ways old at i think might have been higher but nither here nor there. worst case with water is you get what amounts to a stuck key that constantly repeats least with mechanical membrane are a different story the water can corrode the traces basically instantly and cause water damage also i would assume that water was bottled water which has fewer impurities in it and is less conductive. Water is not a great conducted of electricity it is the impurities in it that allow it to conduct. Highly purified and deionized water is a fantastic insulator and does not conduct electric at all for example while tap water from the well in highly mineralized strata areas is a good conductor at the opposite end of the spectrum.

@@NamelessPassenger but why?
@@magiricod because same as apple and samsung, they want you to change your keyboard frequently. If your key cap or a switch damage you have to change a full keyboard. That’s why they don’t care about hot swap switches. Some have good reason like gx low profile, cherry mx low profile. But non of them implemented hot swap (despite g pro x).
I was like "Are they mad? Why they put that glass of water do close?!"
I usually read the description first so I knew about water resistance, making the whole skit predictable.
@I love you but I'm actually a genius so I knew it before the keyboard even existed.
That's a shockingly level desk. I can't be the only person who's amazed the water doesn't just roll to the edge of the desk.

I prefer win + M, with win + D after a while you can't get back to all the apps and windows in the order they where. If you use win + M you can by using SHIFT + win + M.
Looks like the "boss key" also muted everything, which could be nice depending on what you were doing.
@I love you but true forgot about that for a moment

I actually brought this keyboard just to sync lighting with rest of my setup lmfao
That 'boss key' is just a shortcut to win + D, except that win + D doesn't mute the audio as well
Windows key + D already does this, sends you to the desktop just FYI. Tho it doesn’t mute any audio, so keep that in mind.
it's also a lot less conspicuous to hit if you rest on the home row or wasd
_"Umm, why is your spreadsheet moaning, Billy?"_ 😋
There are lots of "boss key" software out there though, if you need the mute function too.
Windows 10 finally has multiple desktops. I'm surprised people aren't using that instead of minimizing things to desktop.
Linus doing the best "pluck em, file em to the side" I've ever seen in the intro.

I didn't realize how much I liked oversized/double-sized CTRL keys for holding crouch in games like Counter-Strike until I switched from a keyboard that always had a big one to a keyboard with a smaller one. Now my pinky cramps a lot more often trying to reach it in the corner farther. Meanwhile, there's a useless Windows key there I never use taking up that extra space it could be using, even though this keyboard I have has *two* Windows keys, one on the left side, and one of the right side, so I don't even need it there even on the rare occasion I do use the Windows key, which is almost never, lol.
Been using mine for 6 months noe. Extremely happy with the product
This looks like a really good keyboard. If I needed one right now I'd be greatly considering this one.

huge mic peak right off the bat.. thanks for that
Win+D works too if you don’t want move your mouse to the bottom right corner. Also works in fullscreen apps, will hide fullscreen games too.
The "privacy" key not only minimises everything, it also mutes the PC and at second press it reverts everything back to normal.
Loving your videos for the past 3 years😂😂😂😂. The funny tech youtuber❤️
That seems like a good choice. It's so forward . . . . . Look towards more soon.
I love linear optical switches, but since the K100 OPX I have realized the actuation force/distance isn't the only important factor, the physical bottom actually is too.
The thing is, even with clicky switches, you can't keep a button pressed right underneath activation, you will drift up and down during the heat of combat and easily cross the release line, so pretty much everyone just bottoms out the keys purely by habit. With a shorter travel distance to bottom, that's way snappier pressing down, and also coming back up.
For anyone that wants the shortcut to instantly show the desktop, this is most likely simply a macro key set to Windows + D. I use it all the time on my OLED whenever I AFK to avoid leaving static images on the display.
Windows+D doesn't mute the PC, this key does a Win+D and mute. Pressing it again reverts everything back to normal, the sound too.
If only I was this early on a verified actual gamer drop. :(
During the livestream he said they were out of GPUs
This is sad guys
That unboxing style made my day holy crap lmao
This is April first material
I wonder if those switches are compatible with the round keys from the Azio Retro. They use a similar centered LED format.
For a keyboard that promised "great control", I kinda expected analog optical switches.
Would be so cool, like on all keys,
weren't there some special keyboards that had the wasd keys with analog function in the past?
@@ShowXTech both razer and wooting sell analogue keyboards with actual analogue functionality.
@@dylanpresidafonseca2545 Thanks for the info, i've looked into them.
Wooting is working on a new model and the old one is rarely available.
I'm not a big fan of razers switches, although a haven't tried the huntsman analog.
But good to know that there are still models out there, maybe it becomes a more common feature in the near future.
@@ShowXTech I mean, they'll be smooth as butter, and you can set the actuation point freely. Shouldn't be to hard to spring swap them if you really need heavier weighting.
@@ShowXTech My local best buy has a demo of it, they're loud for linears but super smooth. Their optical switches are a huge improvement over ther older switches.
I've been doing the Linus dishwasher cleaning job on my corsair k70 keyboard, washed it around 15 times now and its still working fine
Ironically, the best typing experience I ever had was with the cloud-like switches of the SteelSeries Apex Pro, but in gaming there was no way not to accidentally press buttons you were resting on, because they were literally like air.
The joke you could see coming from miles away.
No way they would deliberately miss out an opportunity to promote the LTT water bottle!
Awesome video as usual Linus! Excellent work!
The second water spill was amazing
And props to the creator warehouse team. There seems to be barely any absorption by the LTT desk mat.👍
Hey Linus, idSoft employee here, you want access to either of the expansions for Doom Eternal so you're not just running through Intro (Hell on Earth) with only a combat shotty anymore?

Need more keyboard reviews! They are amazing.
Nnnnnoooo these are THE WORST!!!
I love how Linus just pulls the key cap off while everyone else uses a key puller!
Wow now I’m sold. They just made win + d into a dedicated key. How useful :)
I know you are sarcastic, but what about the ip56 waterproof certification?
Hey Guys, did you change camera or someone else is doing the color grading? There is more contrast in this video, the quality is waaaay different than the other videos.
It looks washed out to me?
Don’t be fooled. The bigger control key is for some random GNU Emacs user at ASUS who thought of a funny joke for marketing
"oh no I spilled water on my keyboard" also linus "lets take every keyboard here, rub grime on it and then put it in the dishwasher"
Short-circuit in the keyboard can't happen when the keyboard isn't powered. It's mostly safe to put any piece of electronic in a dishwasher, as long as it's really dry when it's powered again.

Don’t forget that ASUS has an anti-repair stance as well
Remember to support right to repair.
They are also bad at honoring warranties as well. With their monitors, that are supposed to have a 2-3 year warranty, if it has even the most superficial, tiniest scratch anywhere on the frame, even on the back, even if there's no way it affected the actual internals of the monitor, they will say the product has been "abused" or "negligently damaged" and refuse to honor your warranty.
@@DeathBringer769 Yeah most companies try to weasel their way out of warranties like that. It’s scummy and should also be legally forbidden.

These remind me a lot of Romer-G switches. That isn’t a good thing.
At least those are contact-less. Those are known for being rediculously smooth as there are no contacts rubbing against each other. For example Honeywell hall effect switches are well renouned for their smoothness today even though they are from the 60‘s.
Who ever made this keyboard must not have know about the win+d shortcut or the win+tab shortcut
and you don't even have any single idea that it has its own remapping software
I just watched this after about a dozen youtube videos and had to halve my laptop audio when Linus comes on :D
Pro tip for 'boss button' - use Windows multi desktop feature. Ctrl+Win+Left\Right arrow and you not only just 'minimize everything', which can be very suspicious if every time your boss is around you stare at an empty desktop, but it will allow you to switch between your 'fun' and 'work' desktops with all the windows and stuff.
