I'm a bit on the ancient side, being 72 years old, but I really wonder what the two most common rounds of WW-II would do to that body armor. Of course I am talking about the 30-06 and the 8mm Mauser.
Oh yes👍 All depends on what kind of armor.. 🤔 I't would be intresting to see it fired out of period corect full lenght rifles😊 But quality rifle rated plates should stop standard FMJ no problema..
Whatever happened to dear grand masturbator jay? He in prison yet for pointing a weapon at the FBI? Or maybe friendly fire like when his nfac fuked around and shot each other? He didn't even know the difference between an AR -15 he was holding and a bullpup as he called it.
@@HowardLuken Remember in fast n the furious, the fed that they were trying to get paul to work with undercover? Yap, thats jay, glowing like hiroshima.
Lmfao Eric is such a wordsmith I love how he describes thing. I lost my shit when he was talking about busting the door open and a guy with an sks is standing there 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Eric, I think doing an experiment regarding backface deformation would be interesting to see. Testing soft armor, hard armor, and hard armor with ballistic padding to see if there’s credence to the small inserts.
8:49 Hey man Grand Master Jay from NFAC said people die everyday by hitting the butt of your rifle and loading a round like that... man I sure am glad the rubber dummy had body armor and the rifle was pointed in a safe direction someone could've been killed.... LMFAO great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
I love this test. There is an argument between AK and AR users over which bullet is better, but I think your test reveals a different perspective. Do you want Velocity, or do you want Joules? From what I learned, 5.56 will concentrate more energy in a smaller area and dump energy very fast. The 7.62 seems to get its penetration from its own mass but does not explode as the smaller round would. Just overall fascinating.
There is a point where the velocity doesn't matter and the energy alone kills you. It's why IIIA says it stops a .44 mag and 12ga slug, because it will stop more, but it's a moot point when the bad guy has 10ga or a .454.
I would like to see the result of a hard cast heavy boolit from a 45-70 or 50-90 or 50-110 something in the 600 plus grain weight class. That would be interesting!! Cool video professor!!
ZOMG! 30 rounds ended up penetrating the armor, ban 30 rd mags, keep dummies safe! Always like in field armor tests, the "plate" getting stuck was awesome.
The only problem with soft armor is that you are going to take a lot more impact than hard plates. Although Soft plates are very good for confined spaces and flexibility Thanks for the testing Eric! 🇺🇸
Yeah, you’re still gonna be dead! Just from flying bone fragments puncturing your heart, lungs and arteries instead of bullet holes. Not to mention, just the impact could bruise and stop your hear or cause internal bleeding! It’s funny when folks think that just the bullet penetrating will kill you. People die in car accidents from hitting the steering wheel causing chest trauma and internal bleeding.
@@GrumpyGenXGramps it actually bruises your lungs and the soft sponge flesh falls apart and gets sucked into the arteries where it causes a heart attack. So even if you dont feel that beat up after a crash try deep breaths or coughing then go get a chest scan anyway.
You'd be alive, but definetly feeling like you were just hit by a damn truck!... Definetly would involve a hospital stay and some new undies!... The videos are FANTASTIC Buddy!.... Great job!
For what you said about velocity/mass, only applies to steel. Velocity kills steel, mass is better against against ceramic/composite plates. Of course material of the round plays a huge part. And any increase in velocity, with more mass is gonna be better. But that’s the gist of it
I would love to see someone make a straight up suit of armor out of the fras system and level 3 + plates. Like steel plates covering the major vitals and the fras armor covering all the in betweens
And for radon stuff shot at armor, remember your old vid, of crazy, old calibers, culminating in the parrot cannon? Something similar please, you didn’t have your crazy Mauser then, or various elephant guns, just along those lines, large, heavy rifle rounds, moving pretty quick, would definitely be interesting to see.
I dare you to make a video like this without saying "No such thing as a free lunch in physics" or " That's a really interesting result." I kid. Nice job on the video.
I wonder though, are there any tried and true metrics for surviving blunt force trauma from ballistic plates? I feel confident that the thick heavy AR500 plates probably mitigate any severe blunt trauma. But when we get to these light/flexible plates, I'd think simple penetration tests aren't enough. Granted, the plate is obviously better than having holes poked in you, but it'd be nice to know if you're still gonna die from beaten and brused organs.
I'd argue the Australian F1 is a superior SS109, but they're all close enough to the same spec. Good stuff. Might be interesting to show the effects on the body these soft plates have with one of those fancy ballistic dummies with bones and simulated organs over hard plates.
Sorry, that Norma .223 Remington is not loaded to M193 specification. You'll be lucky to see 3000 fps from that load in a 20" barrel. TL:DR use a chronograph ;)
I’ll rather have broken ribs and shortness of breath than to be dead this armor is good enough for me I’m definitely going to spend money with safe life
I want to see what it takes to stop a 7.62x54r API from a mosin. These rounds a relatively cheap and so are mosins, so ive always wondered how good they are
One more comment, my CATI steel armor would it take all those rounds without any issues. This is base on the test that I watch before buying the armor. I wish you could test them too. It would be great if you can. God bless

@@hansgruber9685 No, just the standard FMJ rounds carried by your average infantry.

Man! Look at those casings being ejected in the massive muzzle flash from that Mutant... So neat. Like a strobe light 😂
I would love to see a level 4 get hit with .338 lapua, or if not that, .300 winmag or .300 prc
100m,300m, & 600m would be very cool to watch imo.
The videos are out there. Just not on this channel.
300 win mag scirraco specifically
Hard level 4 would stop it but you have a high chance of severe injury or even death just from the blunt impact.
There is a point where the velocity doesn't matter and the energy alone kills you. It's why IIIA says it stops a .44 mag and 12ga slug, because it will stop more, but it's a moot point when the bad guy has 10ga or a .454.
Would be very interesting to see these kinds of tests done on a ballistic anatomical dummy.
45-70 Gov. Definitely would be cool
Synopsis of the outcome: "It's gonna hurt!"
Being that flexible, man are some ribs gonna snap. Awesome stuff though
When the mutant was being fired, the flash from the muzzle made it look like the ejected brass was being suspended in mid air. Very cool effect.
I'd like to see out of date armor tested. If you can find some old ballistic nylon, (my first concealed armor) would be great too.
8:48 the infamous bullpup demonstrating its ability to take your head off
Dude, the strobe effect during the mutant scene, was probably the coolest thing I've seen on youtube in a long time....
This is assuming anyone using an SKS can shoot it accurately enough to hit you in that location.
Man, ain’t that the truth it’s like Clint Smith has said body armor is nice but you have to fight someone competent enough with a weapon to hit it.
@@craigsteinkamp12 yup armor is basically a reserve parachute once everything else has already gone to heck.

With how light that armor is, how do we know that the SKS didn't already cause fatal organ damage just from the severe impact?
Well we dont, we just have to hope that the armor spreads the force out over enough surface area that it doesn't cause fatal damage
