Bought an 06 around the same time as you and had lots of similar problems (replacing bulbs, window clips, shipped out my dashboard for it to be fixed, new ac compressor etc) throughout its time. I noticed the computers are a problem with these cars. Had an anti skid service light for awhile which disabled AWD but got a junk ecm and had it programmed by a local mechanic. Even though some bs breaks on it every year I still love it to death. Right front axle and control arms are my next mission but for 200,000 miles rn it’s still going strong.

Nice swedish brick! those problems with the speedometer/abs probably are caused by the abs ring/sensors at the brakes. If have an 03 🤙 cheers

I just had the same brake error and cleared it - it's the reluctor rings for the ABS system or the small ABS sensor. Sensors are $20 and simple to replace. The reluctor rings take a bit of doing, but I ended up replacing the CV axles because they were due on mine, so the rings were pre-installed.
The issue with the odometer stopping is likely due to the siren battery failure - if you look up the siren it's a pretty simple repair - a rebuilt one is under $100. This siren is in series in the electrical system and causes a TON of Volvo code issues.
Yours is in INCREDIBLE condition - I'm jealous. I am at 260k on mine.

@@jakeandcameron7022 instead of replacing the siren battery failure you can also just pull the fuse to it fyi. Only downside to that is the moonroof motor is connected to that fuse so it doesn't work. But a very easy temporary fix until you have the time to replace the siren battery

These have asin toyota transmissions which are super tough, bad maintanance will kill any transmission unfortunately. My 02 had issue's though, and the 1st 2 years were known for those issues

Replace your pcv asap if you already have cracked hoses it’s way worse than it should be. The only 3 maintenance items on these 5 cylinder Volvos that can cause complete engine failure is a bad pcv, not changing your timing belt and of course not changing your oil.

I have a 2004 xc70. Has 96k on it. I replaced timing belt just because, but just had to replace shifter because it broke inside. Getting hard to find parts. Also recently had to change trunk springs.

    • @Simple_Jack82
      @Simple_Jack82 5 месяцев назад

Nice. My 04 had 88k miles on it. What parts are you having a hard time finding? When I look on eBay, I don't have any issues.

    • @Deidre_H

@@Simple_Jack82 I just had to get the whole stick shift assembly off it. Actually had AAMCO order it. They took could only find one on eBay. However now that it's in, none of the manual gears on the left side work anymore. The automatic is fine and I believe so is the all wheel drive. Just not the manual on the left of the stick. I also have a stupid question I'm almost embarrassed to ask. What is the W for in-between the stick and cup holders. I tried to look it up because I thought maybe it was something I was supposed to push to put it into all wheel drive, but from what I read online it goes into all wheel drive on its own without me needing to do anything. So what is the W for? Obviously I would have preferred a new shifter and when that everything worked on. AAMCO also said now my airbag light is on and they don't do that. Weird thing is, 2 years ago Volvo replaced it because the old one was recalled. So I don't understand why suddenly after having shifter replaced there is a problem. They said nothing they did could have caused it. Volvo wants $275 just to diagnose it. I live on SSI which is $943 a month. Just paid over $1200 to replace stick shifter. And month before the trunk springs. 6 months ago the alternator since the new battery kept having problems. So it's definitely starting to nickel and dime me to death. There also was a plastic film over the headlights that somehow had gotten rust in-between the headlights and the plastic. I wasn't sure what was wrong, but that's what it turned out to be. I was going to buy new headlight assemblies off eBay, but AAMCO figured it out and now they look like new. I had bought a 2009 Volvo SUV and allowed my mom to trade it in and give me her 2004 because she had owned it since 20k and had always had all maintenance done at Volvo and garaged. Being that I can't afford another car these having a reputation for lasting so long I figured it was the best bet. However they are expensive to fix!

I have a 2005 with 263k miles (bought with 163k miles on it already).
I had the timing belt and water pump done as well. The shifter broke on mine as well.
I had the DIM refurbished. The alarm/sunroof never worked since I bought it.
I had that top engine mount replaced.
Had a misfire which turned out to be coil number 3 which my mechanic changed and now another misfire so I am just going to change the other four and the spark plugs.
Parking sensor 6 had failed since I got it along with the anti-skid warning.
Now I am getting the ABS light and occasionally the brake failure light like in the video so that is the next problem to sort.
