  • Description:
    In this video we take you on a cruise to Antarctica, the White Continent. It's out of this world! Because this, the 7th Continent, is uninhabited, you have to go by ship. It's a 3 day trip crossing the Drake Passage and then you're surrounded by nothing but snow, glaciers, aqua blue icebergs, humpback whales, orcas, seals and the cutest penguins ever.
    We went on a Hurtigruten cruise ship and we give you an extensive tour of the ship and take you with us on our daily excursions. The wildlife and scenery are breathtaking: enjoy the video!
    About us:
    We are Mandy from England, Orlando from New York, and we love to travel. We live to travel and our goal for this channel, Destination Everywhere, is to share the world with the world and inspire others to travel. So, come along with us, it'll be fun!

    I've always dreamed of visiting Antarctica after watching all those National Geographic shows. It seems like there's an abundance of wildlife that is best enjoyed from the creature comforts offered by the Roald Amundsen ship while having the ability to get up close and personal with the penguins and pinnipeds. Time to start saving up! 😄

    Going in Feb 2024. So much looking forward to it. I go out weekly with the Humpbacks on the Gold Coast when on migration up the east coast of Australia, looking forward to seeing them at home..... and all the ice and the penguins, birds, seals and hopefully other whales (Orca, Minkey, which only rarely get up our way). Didn't expect to find such a high quality video. Well done!

      How kind to say my video was high quality! I am an amateur so I did my best. I just wanted to share Antarctica with the world. Lucky you that you get to be with the humpbacks on the Gold Coast!

      Did you watch ANTARCTICA: 5 Days on the Ice, Part 1? It's the follow up and I'd say it's even better (more penguins!)
      I don't know if you are in the states or not, but we have lots of U.S road trip videos. We have done all 50 and I have the Wild West and Great Plains up. They are not the popular states like Florida and California but you'd be so surprised by how much there is to do there. I know I was blown away when, previously, I had made fun!

      Thermals! Just cheap Walmart fleecy ones are great: socks, t-shirt, leggings. And a GOOD rich face moisturizer as the air is so dry. Also, your hair goes dry and brittle. I wish I had brought some good conditioner or mask because my hair was so flyaway.

    What a fantastic video, thank you for sharing this. Can I ask why you needed to be sedated? Was the Drake Shake that bad?

    • @destinationeverywhereUSA
      @destinationeverywhereUSA  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it was!!! There was a storm on the way back to Argentina and the captain had to veer way east to try and avoid the worst of it. I was so anxious that I had insomnia for 2 days and that's why I had to be sedated. Also, my husband says I am a bit of a baby!

  • @WhisperingShutters
    @WhisperingShutters 10 месяцев назад

    I have heard this cruise carries about 400 passengers and only few can get down on zodiacs at the landings. Is that true?

    • @destinationeverywhereUSA
      @destinationeverywhereUSA  9 месяцев назад

      Hello,
      No, that it is not true. There are about 400 - 500 passengers on a Hurtigruten cruise and there is room for ALL passengers on the zodiacs. We were put into different groups and each group is called down to the zodiacs at different times. Our group went out at, let's say, 10 am and the next group went out at 10.30 am and the next at 11 am. We stayed on the continent with the penguins for a couple of hours and then came back to the ship.
      I would say most people wanted to go out onto the Antarctic continent. A few older people and people with disabilities stayed on the ship and watched from the top decks. But, I promise you: if you want to explore and leave the ship on the zodiacs, there is definitely room. 100%. Nobody is denied. The only limits are with the kayaking or camping excursions overnight. There are only a few places for those excursions. But...you couldn't PAY me to camp in the ice overnight, so I didn't worry! LOL.
      I hope you get to go!

    Did they kayak to port lockrey ?

    • @destinationeverywhereUSA
      @destinationeverywhereUSA  7 месяцев назад +1

      Not on this cruise. We weren't near there. The kayaking happens depending on the weather and sometimes the ice is so bad that the ship cannot go to the planned destinations. I am sure on other cruises they kayak there, but you can never guarantee anything due to the changeable weather. The ships have a Plan B, C and D!
