When a comedian once or twice makes a joke of people finding his material offensive, it is funny. When a comedian does it all the time, it becomes boring. Over the years Ricky has become boring and his sitcoms weak. In After Life, I got as far as the drug dealer coming to his home with a perfectly ironed brown bag. That was the funniest part of the show. In Derek there was a bit where someone made a dog, which goes down as one of the most cringeworthy pieces of TV ever. I long for the day he brings out something that comes close to his first two shows.
RG must have attended the same High School as Marilyn Manson. Convince your audience that genuinely insulting behavior is simply "being offensive". This disarms all opposition, in advance. Nice trick, but a cowardly one.
