SA has its problems, but so does other countries. I guess its also because I lived in relatively safe areas, its way worse in the black townships. Basically if you are a tourist who comes here, chances are nothing will happen to you. The world cup was pretty clean, hardly any crime.
Crime is perpetuated by poverty. Theres not much poverty in some pockets of the country, but a lot in other areas.
