Many times employers are lying about this. Who is going to admit to the truth? No one I know.

Yeah in construction management, a lot of times the employer will simply say "we are growing" to why the role is open and no they are not gonna answer honestly

Great input! However, what I noticed from my job interview experiences is that companies usually have nicely fluffed up answers to any question.

Is it okay to ask about the turnover rate or will that hurt me in an interview?

Good luck getting an honest answer. I asked that once and was told “no one ever leaves - we have employees who have been here 20 years.” Was hired. Quickly found out that “no one ever leaves” meant that most who “left” were fired or quit. There were only 2 (out of a total of 20) employees who were there 20 years, and they were only still there because they were set for retirement in less than a year. All of the other employees had been in their roles less than 2 years! Employers will lie or manipulate the truth so don’t expect an honest response to this question even though they expect honest answers from you!

@fluffytail6355 You said nothing but the TRUTH!!! Had that happen to me! Smh 🤦‍♀️

@@ericabelcher8760 I think it should be standard practice for employers to provide references to potential employees for just this reason. Posting reviews on Indeed, Glassdoor, or other job sites isn’t believable either since I know a few former employees (my colleagues) who gave poor reviews - which would completely true - on those sites and the employers threatened them with legal action unless they changed them to be favourable or completely remove them. So much for transparency when your former employer still won’t allow for honesty even when one leaves the company!
