living my dream! i hope to own a 991.2 manual gt3 in a couple years and do just the same thing. EV will only satifsy me for when there is heavy traffic and it self-drives, that way when its self-driving I can be doing something to earn more money for maintaining and buying more ICE perfomance cars/bikes
I’m in the minority here who like the concept and sound. I will say I think if it had a transmission with gears it would be “worse” from a technical standpoint but I think it would sound better and offer more driver engagement. I bet in the end they have a compelling platform however. Have to start somewhere so I’ll keep an open mind.
@@dsmluck doing well doesn't mean it's better. In order to draw a conclusion which has more advantages than the other we should compare apples to apples. For example, Porsche 919 hybrid Evo is still way faster than the VW I.D. R in Nurburgring which proves it has better handling, acceleration, & power. Look at the performance of Formula E compared to Formula 1, it doesn't even come close. For now, EV is still behind the hybrid tech. But, I'm sure it will catch up.
@@umah. the new formula e gen 3 car is going to close that gap later this year, it has similar power to weight ratios and can go over 200mph. Also bad comparison because f1 have tons more total downforce and run on full slicks they change seversl times during a race. Not treaded tires that have to last a whole race like formula e does. Take away downforce and put an f1 on treaded tires and it would be a very interesting comparison. 🤔
@SV so then you’re saying ALL EVs sound exactly like the one in the video rainman??? Go back downstairs to your mommies basement with your ham sandwich and Cheetos
Why can't the front motor do regenerative breaking, as we as powering the car? I mean since it is already there, it would make sense for it to also deliver power right?
When pressing the accelerator pedal, all the weight is on the rear wheels. When pressing the brake pedal, all the weight is on the front. The car could also have undesirable handling characteristics if too much power is on the front when cornering.
It won't be faster, will not be sooner, I'll give you likely cheaper since the supercar capable gen2 roadster starts at 200k. And even though a cayman can exceed 100k already. Porsche will likely keep this well below it's beloved 911&taycan pricing, which the taycan has been out selling the 911 in certain month's lately. 🤔
@@4literv6 I don't mean the Cayman EV (or whatever it'll be called) will be faster than the Roadster 2.0, I mean it "will be on the market faster" = you can actually get it sooner, and I'm pretty confidence about that. Yes, it made me sad to see this too. Got my first 911S in 1972, it had a Bursche exhaust system, and I fell in love with that car and the sounds it made. The leather Porsche used back then, unless you've been inside it's difficult to describe, but nothing ever came close to that wondrous smell. This is not a Porsche, it may look like one...
Being real, I think once they bring out the electric boxter/caymans people are gonna not like it and Porsche may have to render back to the combustion engines
That sound made my dog howled I had to stop.
It's all wrong. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it.
Sounds cool af to me. Makes me want a high performance EV asap.

I would love to see comparison time and decibels between the eGT and club GT cars.
I wonder how much weight the car would lose if it was built from the ground up to be electric
him; this car sounds really good

If torture had a sound.
It looks cool tho.
Love the sound, not unlike a high pitch TIE fighter!
Now I know why that measurement was called "Hertz". It sure does.
Well, it WAS a Top Secret LOL
Torque and efficiency is what matters in an EV, not hp or whining noise.

I think you forgot to mention the weight. Weight is important in racing.
Nails on a chalkboard.
In these ev cars presentation there should be a similar combustion car next to it to see the advantages and disadv
The only advantage EVs can provide for now is only the lack of air pollution. Hybrid race cars are still superiors.
