This happened to me ages ago pretty much exactly the same, but was covered by sellers protection. I spoke to Paypal and they said that when a Bank files for a charge back on behalf of their client they always side with the Bank. Dont forget a buyer has 6 months to open a dispute with Paypal and get their money back( well was 6 months when I checked a while back)
PayPal didn’t want the bad publicity so gave him the money back but hopefully lots of people learn to avoid this scam. Loving these new style videos of going through and analysing other videos (like the car boot argument). Will we get to see more? I hope so!
As a seller on line you are wide open to just about every scam and untrustworthy buyers. Yes you can make good money but you can also loose too unfortunately
the other loophole is to pay by PayPal and open a dispute on eBay and then also claim on PayPal also, this negates eBay protection as it then goes straight to the bank who will alwaysbside with the acammer claiming broken item or undelivered. had it happen to me and ebay would bot honor the protection then promised 3 tines via telephone before the bank/PayPal sided in rhe fraudsters favour.
Well tbh you can be screwed either way with PayPal. Even if he used goods and services then the buyer just says he received an item not as described, which wouldn’t be covered by buyer protection when using friends and family. It’s a lose lose really. If a scammer wants to scam you, there’s no avoiding it either way they pay with PayPal.
I have just this very moment got a response from a buyer. It was just a photo of an envelope that I had sent the zip puller in … in the images the envelope had been ripped open and only the backing card was left in the envelope. (Also in the photo was other envelope that had been opened in the same manner. ) So what do I do?? I shall send him a replacement set in a plastic harder to rip bag. As the value is only £1.99
I lost over 6 grand from fraudulent "not arrived" packages that I sent to places like Thailand and Hong Kong about ten years ago, before Royal Mail started doing tracked to the far east.
Someone did the same thing with me not with PayPal but with stripe, I had all the necessary evidence screen shots confirming that he had received it, however stripe refunded the buyer and charged me a dispute fee for 15 pounds, I will never use stripe again!
I bought a handbag online from Vinted and seller asked to PayPal payment with FedEx for delivery. Seller scammed me by send tracking number that show delivered to my city which PayPal gave them favor. Try to contact FedEx they very helpful and confirmed that tracking number is not associated with my address but PayPal still on seller side they said because seller uploaded tracking number which I found it's very ridiculous decision to say.
I was always informed that the friends and family options was best for not being able to charge back. And I know through experience. I used it to buy something and the item never turned up so I contacted PayPal and PayPal said they can’t refund anything from friends and family.
If this buyer contacted his bank and claimed that someone made a fraudulent money transfer/card payment it doesnt matter what type of Paypal payment it was, its going to get reversed.
I thought it wa the other way round tbh. If you pay via friends and family you lose any right to even make a claim for lost "goods". Why would a friend or family make a claim that their account was hacked or credit card stolen? I think paypal made an error here.
Happened to me but through managed payments. They claimed they did not recognise the payment, I disputed it as I had tracking of the item and screen shots, of course the bank closed in their customers favour I lost the money and also had to pay £18 or so bank fees.
you wanna try selling mobile phones on eBay like I do almost every week somebody tries to scam me saying they received an empty box or sending me something different back or claiming it didn’t arrive I’ve seen every scam under the Sun. 😩😩😩
Never knew that people could claim back money if they paid via PayPal F&F. I`ve heard a lot of people losing money on FB saying they lost money because they paid via F&F. Never knew that if u paid by credit card to PayPal via F&F, you could claim it back. Learn something new everyday.
450 for a ps5 so yeah hadn't been being on rip of Britain he might of been on can't pay we'll take it away. Lol actually not sure thats still running but catch my drift.👍
Couple days ago I received an eBay question on an item and I immediately recognised the username from months before , so 🚩🚩🚩 were up. After getting some advice from EBay support, I responded by asking some key questions about them (“have you purchased from me before?), no response 🤔😂.
Seems to me that the only person scammed was Paypal. They paid the scammer by choice. Daniel got paid. The debt belongs to Paypal. The debtor is the scammer. PayPal did not do this as a Good will gesture. They did this ti stay out of court. Silly PayPal, stop paying the scammers.😂
He has the guys address so a visit in person would be in order!
Serves him right in my opinion. Greed will bite you in the bum. If I was paypal I'd have given him what ever he paid for it.

Agree 👍 with Thomas. Also enjoying the new video style for advice of what can go wrong. And the negatives to reselling

Great video George even if it is a bit click baity...
Always say if your sending something on Facebook either collect in person with the money, Or enter a contract with Ebay Or Vinted. That way covered.

Great video. Making us aware of this. 👍

OK, thats new to me lol. I thought that who ever receive the money by Friends and Family are safe. Definitely a loophole for scammers.
This happened to me with PayPal on vinted. Paypal couldn't do anything even with me having screenshots of messages before the buyer bought the item.
Nice advice!
thanks george

paypal are filth i went back to selling on ebay when managed payments came in.
What do you think of uv marking an item before posting?
This is why i detest Paypal.

Daniel got super lucky! He should of lost the case but as its on TV, Paypal caved in. Lucky boy!!!

Cheap skate and price gouging caught him with his pants down

Bloody Daniel gettin away with murder 😂
How would this work with something you sell and the buyer collects in person? You wont have proof of postage!
Cash when collecting.
ebay and paypal back and protect scammers. this is why i closed my accounts cuz fuck that.
450 for a ps5 so yeah hadn't been being on rip of Britain he might of been on can't pay we'll take it away. Lol actually not sure thats still running but catch my drift.👍
So basically greed 👹got the better of him, what a complete muppet 🤦♂....how lucky he was in the end!!
Daniel luck he what on a TV show. Great video George 👍
Bloody Daniel
been there many a time... 😬😬😬
I don't have any sympathy for Daniel... Learnt a hard and expensive lesson.
He only got that refund thanks to "Rip Off Britain"......
Very interested video. Thanks for the tip
Shafted himself
Oh Daniel 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤡
Great Straightforward advice.
It's all good and well him getting his money back but ultimately they will just increase paypal fees!
Seems a bit hypocritical to call out Daniel for wanting to make an easy profit, no?

Daniel you plonker! 🤦♂️ Bit ironic an obvious RA PS5 being sold at an inflated price being shown on Rip off Britain 😂
This is why ive nothing for sale over £100 on ebay .
Your loss
