    I rent out an unfinished 5 bedroom apartment in Laureles with balcony for $600 USD plus utilities… I’m writing this because the tiny apartments in this video are not really representative of deals you can get if you are staying long term.

    • @1WorldWideWes
      @1WorldWideWes  Год назад

      As I always mention to each it’s own! Every expat I’ve ever met in Medellin uses Airbnb to rent out apartments and if they don’t there usually here for years vs passing through for 1-3 months

    Medellin is a bit pricey in comparison to other places in Colombia. And Medellin is definitely on peoples radar . I currently have an apartment in pereira in a small town called Galecia and I have a brand new 3 bedroom apartment for about 250.00 a month. Btw is a gated community ( conjunto cerrado ) in a estrata 6 área . I had no gringo neighbors which I liked . Medellin is great for newbies or people who don’t speak great Spanish or it’s great if your money is long . But the gringos have driven up the cost of living there so it’s no longer a bargain

    • @1WorldWideWes
      @1WorldWideWes  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah there are cheaper places, but as far as value, fun, nightlife, local places, MDE is still extremely tough to beat. Plus its nice to see black men traveling

    Great video Bro but you can pay less than half of that for a nicer condo in Thailand with far more amenities! Thailand is where I will be going in a year or two and I cannot wait!! Keep up the good work!

      Thailand is amazing, I've spent over a year of my life there. But you can't really compare the two just by the things you said. Yes you're right but there are other things to consider as well. For the average westerner Thai is MUCH more difficult to learn than Spanish. On the whole it is much easier to form genuine social bonds in Colombia than Thailand. There's also proximity to consider, among many other things. Colombia is also much less demanding when seeking a longer term visa than Thailand.

      Playa del carmen isn't nearly as beautiful. If you need to be by a beach, I definitely recommend and it's pretty close to Tulum which is beautiful. With that being said, if you're planning on traveling over summer the red tide gets pretty bad to the point where you won't be able to swim.

      I enjoyed my time in Miraflores, I did venture into other neighborhoods like, Barraco, San Isidro and I spent time, as well, with a friend I met back in 2019 when I we were in Mexico. I stayed for a few days with my friend's mother where she has a huge home in La Molina. I'm hoping to visit said friend the later part of 2023 if I don't end up going to Albania for a visit and end up staying for an extended period of time. I plan to re-watch your Colombia videos again. I look forward to gaining more info before I visit.
