Sorry, I can't stand his drumming, I feel that he makes every song so noisy. I wish that he'd leave more room for the guitar to come through, he's always drowning everyone out .
      Sorry, just my 2 cents.

@@dboulos7 Your opinion is your opinion can’t argue with that but I’m also a big fan of the band and the drummer and I might agree with you if you take the video of this performance as an example. However I don’t see him being distasteful at all on any of the studio records. Actually I find him very melodic. ✌️

@@DesignerFromMars You're right, there are songs where I do find him controlled, and as you said, melodic. And sorry again for my critique, it's just that I do like the band a lot and wish that they were much bigger than they are, but I find that the drummer just degenerates them into a loud,, and too familiar, heavy rock act. Scott is a very creative guitarist, he needs space to allow the riffs or melodies to come through, and not have the drummer hit the drum on every note that the guitarist plays.
But, I believe that you know them much better than I (I only discovered them 3 months ago), and that your insights are more accurate than mine.
Thanks for the input - let's hope that they come to our respective hometowns soon...

@@dboulos7 Don’t apologize for sharing your opinion. I respect it. I’ll actually go back to some of my favourite tracks and listen to them with your comments in mind. Maybe I’ll hear what you mentioned. I saw them once in Montreal. It was the first show of a second leg of the Feral Roots tour and they were rusted… with technical glitch that never got resolved. Biggest mystery to me however is why they’re not as “big” as they should be.

@@DesignerFromMars understood, ..I just felt that it may seem a bit pessimistic to interject a negative comment about such a very talented band - it was meant more as a constructive criticism, which I believe that you understood. Thanks!.
Yes, a real enigma in many people's mind: how the band managed to remain in such obscurity for such a long time. Especially when Sean Mendez, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and Dua Lipa are ruling the charts.

Best band out there right now, bar none. Saw them in Sioux Falls,South Dakota at Badlands Pawn and concert venue for $9.45 dollars. Great concert.

Thanks for sharing, looks like a great venue. Saw them play an intimate gig here in France. I was at the front with my young kids sat on the edge of the stage so they didn't get squished. The band were awesome - Jay thanked us for bringing young fans, went backstage to get a big bag of sweets for them, and later brought them over a bottle of water and checked they were doing alright. Michael did a drum solo, then came out and gave them his drum sticks, and Dave flicked his guitar pick in our direction which I manage to catch. We were stood in front of Scott the whole time, but I don't think interacts so much with the crowd...
And if that wasn't nice enough, earlier in the afternoon they bumped into some parents with their kids in a local shop, found out they were fans, and surprised them by bringing them up on stage, singing happy birthday and handing him over a present he bought and wrapped... I already loved the band, but that put them in even higher esteem.

Thanks for sharing this raw footage. Wish I was there. RIVAL SONS is the best remaining rock and roll band left in the world today. More power to them. Keep rocking. Until you can't. Rock on with your bad ass selves.

@@Masterufoss you have absolutely zero idea what you're talking about. There's nothing wrong with that cat's voice. To me it sounds like he's just messing around with different phrasing. This was a small intimate fuck around show and it also doesn't look like he's wearing his monitors so he might not even be able to hear himself that well. If he was losing his voice, you'd start to hear the loss of control on the lower and quieter stuff that involves more technical skill, not the shit where he's belting.

@@masonbetsch First of all, did u just use argument ad hominem?. I assumed that Jay's pulling that much that his voice chord are closed during these extremely high chest belts (D5) as a result of observation of music material. U can't just throw herbs on fire and tell someone that he has no idea what he is talking about, the burden of proof is on you. If I were u I would work on rhetorics. Maybe that's the reason why u cant break on through with ur band? U definitely got them pipes, but something is lacking :) To crystalize prevenient notion are u really trying to tell me that healthy belting D5 with his chest doesn't require immense technical skill? Maybe ur mind just cannot catch on to it cause you base on ur empirical experience; I' ve listened to ur tracks and ur belting with ur MIX which is something different, much easier. It something what brooklyn singers do and it demands much more determination and patience. Of course Jay hadn't been taking any vocal lesson till he started losing his voice (about 2016 i think it was hollow bones tours).
To push it even further the man said it himself that his voice narrowed down at the Acoustic Grammy Sessions.
      PEACE.
