Great video! I think Matt sounds a little bit closer, mostly thanks to the Micro POG, to achieve the “Mystery Pedal“. Just for the record, Scott did reveal what was in his Zap Box, it's an Octavia Fuzz from Roger Mayer, cloned by one of his friend! Thanks for the fun guys!!
This is interesting because I think that the closest sound to the band is actually in between. Matts tone is closer, but if you made it fatter like Rabea's it would be spot on. Nicely done

yea it seems to be the better one of the two..possibly cause of the amp??since the guitars are similar
The octave fuzz has a thicker meatier tone and reverb has a huge influence on bea's tone I think the guitar and amp are small players in this.

Matt was definitely closer, but both rigs sounded good (I'm a big Sons fan).
New format is cool. The competition vids that Rob and Lee do are often their most fun and it adds a cool element to this series too. Definitely something worth doing again in future.

ooh jeff williams! i like that one, not many people know about his music but his solos are insanely immense! lots of wah in them

yes there was a Motley Crue without busting video, this being said they should do a remake of Motley Crue
well i've did some slight research from his live at RTX performances, he uses a Musicman JP6 occasionally as well as another superstrat kind of guitar, normally we'd go No sig for someone else's rig but i decided if the guitarist uses a signature model guitar that is in budget then you can get it! but the problem is andertons don't have the JP6 but they do have the JP60 which is technically the same guitar but upgraded and it's only about £500 to £600 so in budget!
amps wise i'm not sure but he's got a John Petrucci style to him so one would assume Mesa or Marshall, i think go for the Blackstar HT Club 40 cos when i saw sound like Motley Crue without busting the bank the guitar and amp tone sounded so close to the "I Burn" guitar sound so there's your amp! and for fx he uses a multi fx unit but i don't know which one so the primary fx that i'd say to get is Overdrive and Wah cos he loves using the Wah in solos

theyve done something like that before... like years ago they did guns n roses without busting the bank, and then recently did by busting the bank.. two different vids.
You dont seem to under stand what i mean lets say Mat Dosent have a Buget and Rebea Dose and they do it in the Versus format like they did in his video while they both try and sound like the same artist
I really like this new format - great idea, guys! This format is more entertaining AND informative than the regular Sound Like..., because you get two different views and two attempts on the same rig. A neat idea would also be a Versus where Matt gets infinite budget and Rabea 1500 pounds (or vice versa) - A Busting the Bank VS. Without Busting the Bank.
I really enjoyed this new concept guys. The old one was great too but I think the "vs" brings new life to it. It's good to see the similarities and differences from 2 points of view. Great video!
Bea's tone sounded nicer because it was fuller, though I think Matt was closer to Scott Holiday. However, I don't know how Bea's tone would work in a full mix because it is so big, whereas Matt's tone should work in a mix.
I suggest making a special EVH episode with 2 rigs: an all evh products rig vs. a non-evh rig
So the non-EVH rig would just be like a Charvel into a Marshall or something like what Ed did in the early days?

Love this VS. format. . Adding loads of fun to the Sounds like show. Fans get two rigs. At the end pick the best pieces see how you would put them together. Great Rigs, Rabea's sounds bigger, louder. That slash pedal is amazing.

Any chance of seeing more "Sounds Likes" focused on bassists? Plenty of bassists with unique tones that would let you play with gear like Simon Gallup, Chris Wolstenholme, Geddy Lee (Moving Pictures-era), Justin Chancellor, Jeff Caxide, etc.

TMmodify John McCrea uses an acoustic guitar plugged into a small fender electric guitar amp, and Xan McCurdy uses a semi hollow guild with a fender amp.

I love the 'vs' format, really cool idea. Keep up the awesome work! Also, Matt had a more authentic selection of gear I thought, but I preferred Bea's tone. Listening to the songs you guys tried to sound like, you both did great, but Bea I think got a bit closer. Well done, chaps!

Thanks for this guys. I'm a massive Black Keys fan but had never heard of Rival Sons before this video. Have now downloaded all of their albums on Apple music and have my listening/riff learning sorted for the next few days. Oh, and Bea sounded the closest with a thicker and darker sounding tone more reminiscent of the actiual tracks. Might need to finally pick up one of those Gretsch Streamliners now though..

Sounded great, I like the format, competition always pushes people a bit further in making the right choice, and the viewers have more options to choose from in the end, and to debate about. Also adding the reveal suprise faces moment to the next videos is mandatory, imho.

Yeah, just watched/listened to Rival Sons "Electric Man" at amazon artist lounge video. Matt was closer. In the song, this riff is being played on guitar AND bass, and I think Matt's version would sit in the mix with the bass more like the original.
