You guys broke down the New Yorker piece perfectly. They might have some good Chatgpt/Google points, but they didn't explore the fuller AI space we currently have. I thought we were a ways away from camera panning in AI videos, and that alone gives a ton more creative control!!!
Gavin is 100% correct about his take on making "art" with AI. As a lifelong traditional artist who started making 2D and 3D art in the late 80's, and been playing around with AI for a few years, the more control we get over the AI, the better it is at getting exactly what I envision in my mind, into something I can show other people. I also prefer to train the AI on my own art whenever possible. There are people who can draw who still just copy other people's ideas and styles. The AI makes that easier, but that is not the only use for AI. It is already good enough, if people make the effort, to get what you have in your head, out on the screen. It doesn't have to be a copy of someone else. Like everything, AI can be used for bad, or for good. It's up to the user of the software. If you were to look at my videos on YT, you will not see "copies" of something else. Though I am generating the ideas in my own mind, and I spend a lot of time editing and adding things to almost all the videos. So none if it is entirely AI anyway. It's a great tool, and doesn't have to just be the result of a prompt and call it done. Love the channel guys! Keep up the great work. This is definitely the most fun videos to watch about AI.
hey thanks for this. it's super interesting to me to follow these conversations around art and how people make it and with what. so much of this is narrative that feels false but also, you know, the AI companies DID train on a bunch of art and I can understand how artists are pissed about this.

Someone generating images vs someone creating them by hand will typically be making fewer decisions relative to their output but their output can be so much greater. With some experience and vision, an AI short film with completely alien characters and sets can be made in a week. If these sorts of films were being made by humans, there would be dozens of decisions for every small element of each shot but it also might take months or years to make and edit that film. Very few people will realistically have the opportunity to ever do that as a traditional production but an AI creator can explore that idea for under $100 if not for free and then be able to explore something else before a traditional production would get past the planning phase. Of course, that comes with less granular control over the details.
Folks like me, use everything we've learned to create using traditional art mediums and using that knowledge to inform the AI on the scene and story we're trying to tell. I consider the composition, the color tonality, the camera angle and lens, every little detail is well thought out. I spend a lot of time, crafting the prompts and tweaking them until I get closer to the results I'm looking for. I find myself fighting the AI to do specific things, it takes a creative mind to work around AI's limitations to create a scene that makes total sense and helps to tell the story.
@@AIForHumansShow what some of these folks don't get it's more than just generating images and video it's also about all the tools that it's been able to provide us with things like rotoscope and in painting upscaling and I can't wait to see what's around the corner as a creative that doesn't have the budget to spend on a lot of things I can focus on my story and use these tools that are available to me to be able to put together something pretty quickly. An an artist myself I can see that this is the next level and folks that are creating traditional art, guess what... There are going to be people that will eventually get tired of AI and pay a premium to obtain traditionally made art. You'd think a creative mind would be able to see and seize this opportunity to become even more relevant than before.
