I've watched several videos where the host completely turns on the propane tank valve. I'm a 25 year career veteran of the fire service and we teach people to only turn the tank valve 1/4 turn for a couple of reasons. First, you're not going to get any more propane by turning it more than a 1/4 turn. Second, if there's ever a fire along the propane line, all you have to do, is, turn the valve off 1/4 turn vs numerous turns to stop the flow of gas. In my 30 years of RVing, opening the valve 1/4 turn has never resulted in an insufficient supply of propane.
thanks for the tip. I was told to open valve full and then back off 1/2 turn.
Appreciate you sharing that wisdom sir
Thank you. I just turned mine from full blast to a quarter...
The valve should be open all the way to engage the upper gland seal to the propane doesn't leak from the stem.
I have worked with refrigeration like anhydrous ammonia and boilers for many years. Refrigeration valves like propane have an upper seal that prevents stem seal leaks so should be opened all the way. Valves that have hot substances like steam should be opened all the way then closed 1/4 turn so that the heat does not cause the stem to expand and damage the valve
Very helpful. I didn’t realize the furnace required propane to run. I thought it was electricity when at a full hookup site. Thank you.
and if you're not at a full hookup site your RV battery will not last long running the fan. also, because I was at full hookups most of the time, I bought an electric heater at Walmart that I could set the temp on.
You touched on every topic very good man much help it definitely did me good video keep up the hard work.
Nd lots and lots of good info thanks so very much-
Great video, specially for a new solo owner like me. Thank-you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you ❤
Thanks
Thank you so mutch men .
Thank you ! I was able to fix my own furnace. Yay! You helped so much.
Hi, my furnace start to work and blow fresh air and stop after of 20 seconds, Do you have idea what could be the problem? I’m thinking that maybe the thermostat but you can give me better idea, thanks.
It would be nice if someone replied to this
Sail switch
There's a heat sensor switch that will open when if furnace flame is cooled down
Thank You I’ve literally watched hundreds of videos and yours was so simply and exactly what I needed
Nice video if it’s your first time walking in an rv or a house for that matter. Swing and a miss
I have a 2009 bobcat ultralite pull behind camper and I need to know how to use the heater.
Thanks for the info
and that's why you should have a little bag of extra fuses. and you should have a bug screen on the outside exhaust vent.
Like just a little brass one cut to fit the circle?
Hey there. I have a question. My rv heater stopped working one day, I would try to turn it on many times on many days, and it just wouldn't blow like it used to. Then today, I tried it again. And now it blows hot air. I have not done anything different to my rv . Would you know why it just now works again ?
Thanks first Winter ❄️ Winter is coming my propane heater quit I found out it was a loose fuse
You have a micro minnie winnie?
Looks like ours, 3 months old, furnace won't light. Trying to figure out how to set to sail switch, hope I find it when I remove distribution panel cover. Good thorough video, thanks
Yes, it is a Micro Minnie Bob, as your unit is only 3 months old, have you tried taking it to the dealer under warranty?
Turn d it up to 75 and bang it’s working. Had set to 71 to 74 but wasn’t turning on, weird but thanks
Eric, great video but I believe you are mistaken about your bathroom getting heat. The venting system coming out the right side of your unit is not meant to provide your bathroom with heat but instead it is meant to drop through the floor, in that area, and provide your undercarriage with heat, part of the weather package to help keep water lines and tanks from freezing. Winnebago in their infinite wisdom provides just barely enough slack for the venting tube to reach the hole in the floor and to nest itself maybe 6 “ into it.
More than likely your vent hose was pulled out of the hole when you were disconnecting it.
The next time you pull your furnace out, look to the right of it, on the floor area, there should be an opening with water lines going into it. That’s where your vent hose should be going, not laying out to warm the bathroom.
Still blowing cold air even igniter working
I have my rn connected to my house power. I just connected a propane tank and my heater isnt kicking on. Help
Can't get ours to start. It was working a week ago. Just seems to be very slow to kick in.
Mine works but won’t shut off the heat when it gets up to temp. Just keeps running until I manually shut it off.
Did you figure out the problem. I'm having the same issue.
Sounds like faulty thermostat
I have a furnace that fires, i replaced the sail switch but the fire box doesnt get hot enough to blow hot air.
Will my heater work if i am hooked up to power point ( house) vs a propane tank
You will still need propane to fuel the furnace unless you have an electric heat strip or heat pump on your A/C unit.
Thank you very much very very helpful God bless you Jesus is the best I love him he's my God God bless you I hope you know the Lord
This is about rvs not Jesus stfu
my problem is that when i,m plugged in to outside power electricity and turn on the furnace don't work but the air condition fan comes on and no hot air
I hear the "click" overhead but thats it.
I used the heater one time.when i bought this camper 3 years ago and it worked fine.
Now--- click only.
Do you hear any clicking on your actual furnace? It is not even attempting to do anything? Ours clicks overhead as well even if we do not have the recirculate fan function on.
@@TheSavvyCampers
Thanks for responding.
I do not hear clicking from the actual furnace but only from overhead.
@@swamplight79 Have you checked the fuse for the furnace?
@@TheSavvyCampers
Hey
Sorry for the late reply- I lost track of yours and had to re-search by keywords and find this video again and...
Yes- the fuse is good but I am not hearing the clicking of the igniter.
My tank is full, I hear the fan kick on, the clicker is trying to ignite, but then turns off after about 15 seconds. ??
Same set up !!! Rv used 6 times? Heater turns on 30 seconds? Shuts off???? Help.
Mine will blow heat to zone1bedroom but only cold in zone 2 living room. It is a 2001 Fleetwood discovery 37u
My thermostat is older than yours. Anolog slides
Is it normal for that exhaust vent to be just blowing out a ton of heat wasting it?!
Yes it is normal for the heat to be blowing out. It is not wasting it, it is the exhaust from the burner. This cannot go directly into your RV.
My furnace clicks twice then nothing
Mine just constantly runs with heat even after i have turned the thermostat off
Did you figure out the problem. I'm having the same issue.
@@briangalaviz117 yes it was the thermostat
waste of time watching this, never got to even troubleshooting the furnance. spent all his time talking about the thermostat setting etc.
This video is nothing but a beginner tech.
I ranned out of fuel and the time out period is going unto 45minutes now even though I got a filled tank installed. The Furnace has not restarted. How long does it take for propane to circulate?
Not technical at all. Don't waste your time unless you are an absolute newbie and have absolutely no idea how a furnace works. This was a useless time waster for me or anyone like me.
bunch of obvious bs
This was pointless / useless...
