I said a few times I didn't see this specialization when researching original Wrath of the Lich King. I mean specifically for Raiding - I have seen a similar (but different) specialization being used for things like AOE farming Karazhan!
I have done that, and I have seen other videos about kara farm but I've never seen someone else try to use a similar hybrid spec in RAIDING. I also just searched on the Warmane discord for "aoe dps" and found 26 results posts, only one of which even mentioned rogues at all and said they had assassination rogue in their group for a dungeon. Every other post result was talking about non-rogue classes.

back in molten wow (wotlk private server) that was called "the RS spec" (Ruby Sanctum) used for aoeing the living embers in halion fight . thats arround 2013-2014 . its great for trash mobs but thats not what made the spec popular, RS progression is what did . especialy since you have access to Deadly Brew talent, for crippling poison application through the double instant (and most adds/trashes can be slowed and aoe 70% slow is not a small deal)
most rogues don't even know that you can bflurry into fok to procc it aswell (people seem confused because it retail it does not use your weapons to perfom the ability) good guide, i love your knowledge and passion
In raids I have about 50% crit rating whilst buffed, I may just stick with that rating and full Ulduar gear for the damage. Also I've been told by certain people to run 2x instant poisons when trying this but I'm really not very good with this kinda stuff and so remain unsure. Started my felstriker farm, easily doable thanks to your guide - I did my assa spec cus I couldn't be bothered respecing. Looking forward to exploring this when wrath launches!
@Simonizeshow I got the Stormshroud set crafted and it doesn’t seem to proc the energy from Fan at all… I put the set on at 80, and farmed in the open world for about an hour doing mob pulls of around 15-20… and according to details I only ever got energy from Focused Attacks

Mained a Rogue in OG Wrath and frequented EJ, can confirm that trash/aoe optimization was not very widespread in the OG Wrath Rogue theorycrafting community. Stuff like this is exactly why I'm excited to play Wrath Classic. I'm excited to see how much more new stuff surfaces as we get into the expansion proper
The one big complaint I have about this video, is Simon not immediately telling people that this doesn’t work unless you have 6 mobs or more…. Pretty stupid. Your energy just doesn’t regenerate that fast when you have 5 or less mobs. That should have been like the FIRST thing you mention. I love your vids Simon, but after farming Felstriker and buying spellblade and getting bezerker, I felt really disappointed in my first raid mob pack, and I wasn’t getting nearly the energy I thought I would get… you should have mentioned this first and foremost.
I swapped from spreist in tbc to rogue In wotlk. And honestly, spriest are in a waaaaaaay better place than they were in tbc. Everyone needs them in raids, they finally do better DPS, and like always destroy in pvp.
You mention that the weapons for this build should be 2 slow weapons, ideally - first weapons. My question is - can this work with two daggers as well, since FoK does a higher percentage of dmg with daggers? And if yes - is the DSP loss signifficant compared to 2 slow weapons. Looks pretty effective for farming Naxx since the majority of your time in the raid is farming trash. I will say that Ulduar forward, you’d probably want to dedicate your two specializations to deep Assasination and Combat. Ulduar you’d probably want to switch specs from boss to boss. Though, in ICC, I recommend bossing with deep Combat as armor penetration, the powerful trinkets that favor combat and (possibly) the %damage raid buff allow combat to scale higher than Assasination on even solo target fights. I could definitely see this build being useful in several trash areas in ICC if your guild is capable of large pulls. The room with the second boss in ICC has a ton of trash that you inevitably have to pull all at once due to mobs being so close together. Great info btw!
Thanks for acknowledging that this is indeed tryhard PvE crap, I hate PvE as it is and was finally relieved not having to respec from Sub for every wagecuck PvE endeavor. I honestly might not even raid at all, I don’t stop spamming arena queues!

Are they better than daggers even with the 105% weapon damage? Also, as I can't get Rod of the Sun King, I will be getting Felstriker, what should I pair that with for preraid? I currently have Greed.

Personally I opt'ed out of grabbing adrenaline rush, for the final point in Vitality. cause I personally care more for consistency instead of a few second window on a 2min cd.
For big aoe pulls I have been trading out 2pc slayers for prebis alternatives with better stats. For this build would it be better to gem aoe gear for crit>ap since you will benefit more from focused attacks?
I always though that rogue being good in aoe is stupid, like in class concept. Rogues should be specialized in surprise attacks, should be the ones doing massive burst of single target damage and then decaying pretty rapidly as soon as they get spotted. That's the supposed rogue fantasy, they only way they should be able to deal with larger groups is by hidding within the chaos os the battle, so they get sneak attacks. In wow for me they should play something like: huge oppening burst > damage downtime > wait for oppening while u lose aggro > huge burst from surprise attack > repeat
he has a chart on his Index page on his Discord comparing different combinations of stormshroud, felstriker, Rod, and pre-raid bis items. In some specific situations felstriker+rod is a little better than just Rod alone.
I crafted the BS spell damage dagger thst has a 2.5 sec weapon swing. Put that in my MH with instant poison and was critting with FoK for 1800. I had the Omen in my offhand which is 1.5. I was doing top or near top AOE damage during trash.
the answer is - it depends. i suggest you check out the charts on the discord that compare different gear levels, target counts, and cooldown availability.

I crafted the BS spell damage dagger thst has a 2.5 sec weapon swing. Put that in my MH with instant poison and was critting with FoK for 1800. I had the Omen in my offhand which is 1.5. I was doing top or near top AOE damage during trash.

How much better is Rod and felstriker over the next best slow offhand weapon from Wrath during naxx? Is it a huge difference ? Or marginal.
