    Quick overview of how I fixed the no sound issue after installing the new Android entertainment unit/display.
    Usually the “audio In” Jack is connected via a 3.5mm aux cable which is then ran down into your glove box or centre console where it’s plugged in. (For me this was into my AMI/MMI slot using the adaptor supplied with the kit)
    In the end I gave up on this method and instead a much simpler method I found was to just plug the 3.5mm aux cable coming from “audio in” into the other “audio out” Jack rather than into the centre console AUX. This can be found with the bundled cables going into the display unit itself with a bunch of other cables labelled DVR, AV in, AV out etc…
    Once this was done I then modified the settings under the Mercedes engineering menu
    (hold red Hangup button+1+#) OR either of the town below if the above does not work.
    (Hold red hangup button+2+#)
    (Hold green dial button+1+#)
    ** Do this at your own risk, my video is for information only demonstrating how I achieved this**
    Once updated and reset, you can then navigate and finalise additional Android settings.
    Took me a few attempts as was not simply plug and play, ordered 2 AMI cables only to send them back, but fortunately turns out they are not needed IF You have the additional “3.5mm Audio Out” Jack.
    ** I’ve added a photo at the end of the video to show you how I wired it up**
    Mercedes C350 coupe w204 2011
    NTG:4.5
    Hope this helps some of you

    Thank you so much for your video.
    Going into the main unit admin menu and doing Disable/enable on MOST and AUX with resetting the main unit did the trick for me.
    I had no sound from the android unit and I didn't want to thread an AUX cable to the AMI port in the armrest.
    BTW I did try using the AMI port with the AUX the sound quality was sub par.
    This way, with using the AUX cabling that connects the android unit with the head unit directly, the sound quality is the same as the original quality like from the radio or a USB from the main unit.
    Thank you so much.

    Just came across this your video trying to fit a 10.25 android screen to my 2010 E350 NTG 4.0. I spent the best part of 4 hours wiring and unwiring the whole system, the manual tells you clearly that you need to use the Aux or the AMI, i couldnt get sound from anywhere even its own operating system nothing. I followed what you said and even the Aux position 2 and 6 in my case and the MOST set to off then with INTERNAL Speaker the Radio burst into life as did the Aux and it works perfectly now. Thank you for making such a helpful video.

    Thank you so much for this video. Really helpfull, while I cant get my sounds to work.
    Two questions where did you plug in the AUX cable in the centre unit?
    Second, do you know where you can buy the LVDS connector to the screen, or do you have an image of the connector wiring so I can build on myself? It was not included in my kit, otherwise I have all the same stuff. Thanks in advance for your reply!

    • @kevinkitho
      @kevinkitho  2 года назад

      No problem. You referring to the centre console? For my setup I had an AUX out from the harness which plugged into the AMI to AUX connector which then connects to the AMI port itself in the arms rest. Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of the connector. The smaller harness which connects to the back of the LCD screen had an AUX IN port which is usually for external audio dvds, PlayStation, tv runners etc… I connected my AUX cable into here.

    Hi, thanks for the video. I have a roadtop 10.25 android screen in an A207 2012 E250 - It was all working fine and now the aux cable makes no difference if its plugged in or not. The sound only plays via bluetooth and I've tried everything to get the aux cable to work (as the sound was much louder) but to no avail. Do you have any suggestions?

      Strange, would suspect a setting has changed rather than hardware/cable failure? Failing that would replace the aux cable connection between in/out with voltmeter

    Hi, I am curious did your calls work on your car system or did you have to install the small speaker they gave? I love the screen but they told me I need to install the small screen to take phone calls as I was not getting any sound. This feels like a pointless upgrade for me if I have to now use the cheap speaker and not the car one. The only other workaround that I can do is to select the audio source on my phone to the Mercedes Bluetooth. This could be annoying as I need to pick up and then select the source on the phone.

    Hi. I tried the combination "hungup#1" but the menu that appears is completely different with some basic settings. None of these which you show is not there. Hence not the option to activate the AUX. Is there any other way to get that screen? Thanks in advance

    • @kevinkitho
      @kevinkitho  Год назад

      Most users are ok with this combo to enter engineering mode, but depends on what year and version NTG your car also came with. Instead replace the “hangup” button try the “dial” green call button instead so “dial#1” or “hangup#2” hope this helps

    • @kevinkitho
      @kevinkitho  2 года назад

      Hey thanks, a blue screen? it works flawlessly with apple carplay...if youve tried adusting all the headunit settings, only other thing i could suggest is try updating latest app/os on the android phone? try another phone to see if that blue screen is trigged by the phone or actual headunit itself?

      I purchased from Aliexpress, they are ALL the same units and will fit; you just need to decide which screen size and android version you prefer, took around 2 weeks to arrive. Make sure to purchase an aux noise cancelling ground loop adaptor and if Yiur car does not have reverse camera might be a good time to buy this now. Both can also be picked up from Amazon too

  • @lucaslawless
    @lucaslawless Год назад +1

    I'm struggling with this too. I've tried audio in to audio out behind the factory head unit and also audio out to AMI and both don't give me audio. I can get audio if I connect a pair of headphones to the audio out. So it must be a setting in the android display. My aux position is correct, it's set to manual and set correctly in the NTG menu. I can't find a way to turn off MOST though as I have a different NTG version. W204 here. Pulling my hair out!

      Hrmm if you’ve got different NGT version double check you have the correct harness and wires going to correct pins… perhaps try another PIN to enter system menu that may enable some greyed out features…

Any ideas? On my Merc I have the AMI to aux cable.. no direct Aux, do you think thats why it is so bad with the sound? I didn’t try connecting the aux cable from the screen to aux, i used the Aux cable directly from harness to AMI Aux.. I really need your help please. Hey mate, good video, I dont get where you said you connected the audio out to the audio in on the console - there doesnt seem to be a picture uploaded to show the wiring. I have this issue right now, have a different unit to install and has the audio out cable in the cable stack. I am assuming I will need to do this bypass like yourself, but I dont know where you plug this cable into (I am assuming the radio unit itself) but where and I am assuming with the 3.5mm cable too ?? Cheers

    • @kevinkitho
      @kevinkitho  2 года назад

      For this headunit there is an "audio in" and "audio out" cable both 3.5" jacks. The "audio out" jack is grouped in amongst the new harness that plugs into the back of the LCD unit itself (reverse cam, video in, aux in etc) the "audio in" jack is grouped in amongst the new main harness itself that plugs into the back of the Command unit. There is no existing "audio in" jack provided with the oem harness. Between the audio in and audio out jacks I've used a ground loop adaptor (black plug that can be seen in the video) not necessary but does eliminate some of that background buzzing when volume is turned up. If you do not have an audio in with your new harness and version of headunit then this method wont work, will need to use AMI cable or AMI bluetooth cable....
