  • I was ripping my hair out on this one. It seems like it would be an easy fix if they updated the firmware to always power the ANT line.

Thank you sir! With your video and a Positap I had this fixed in about 90 seconds!
As one other commenter noted, there appears to be an amp wire (blue&white) on most of the RCA plug harnesses. From what I can tell, this is actually switched by the UI, but it’s probably easier/faster for most of us to just tap the ACC line so the amp gets power at the same time as the HU.
    Thanks again!!!

Hey, thanks for your video. I bought a head unit for my e90 off of Amazon and didn’t return it because I knew it had to be an easy fix. After buying a cheap $5 multimeter from harbor freight, I had it fixed in a few minutes… Just like you said, I found the amp wire that was turning off when opening apps, yet it was on when using FM/AM radio and simply spliced ACC power to it. Now I can use my CarPlay. 😂

Actually, I spoke with one of the manufacturers about this. The second pack of stereo cables that have RCA jacks have the blue AMP CONT wire that you need to connect to the factory amp cable. The cable you were using is for a powered antenna. Which is why the radio turns on and gives power to turn the amp on. It’s confusing because the antenna power wire is blue just like the amp wire. Most people with factory amp might never plug in the rca cables since they aren’t using them with a factory amp, hence never locating the real amp wire.

Good find Patrick, well done mate. Was hoping to find the answer to my similar problem here but I don't think this is it. But I suspect the wiring harness is wired wrong on my new head unit as well. Ignition sometimes turns the head unit on/off. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes turns off randomly sometime after you've turn the ignition off. My antenna does go up/down when the head unit turns on/off respectively, so I don't think that is my problem. Also no sound intermittently on any of the music sources (BT phone or local apps) and only a factory reset fixes this. But sometimes it doesn't lol. Pretty sure the on/off problem is due to something like the main power supplying the unit being wired up to the + wire that feeds a constant 12v supply to help the head unit hold its memory, or something like that? No idea. But I appreciate seeing that other units have had wiring issues as this gives me hope. Anyways, fun and games. If anyone recognizes any of these symptoms and can save me some headache troubleshooting, I'd appreciate the suggestions! Cheers!

@@NicholasNicolaides I would measure it out with a volt meter and see if you 're getting constant 12 v coming from Amp C (continues) wire. These are sometimes used by the original car radio to sound the open door chimes and power a sub amp. You don't want to connect to that one as it probably gives you a switched continues 12 V. I think Audi may have blue wires with a white stripe as their amp power.

Thank you for posting this. I have android head unit with the amplified harness for my car which is a 2008 Lexus RX400h. At first it seemed like it was working. However for whatever reason if I don’t start the ignition fast enough it turns the amp off. Furthermore even when it is working as soon as I turn the car off and turn it back on the sound is no longer working. Only an unplug from the negative on the battery fixes it and it just keeps happening. It almost works however for whatever reason it refuses to turn the amp back on after an initial start up after the battery is plugged back in after being unplugged. Hope someone has at least come across this issue. If you have an have a fix please let me know. It’s really to bad too. Honestly is fantastic when it works. However if I have to unplug the battery every time I go to start my car I don’t think I should have to do that. Thanks for reading this.

Hi I spliced my radio antenna wire into the acc wire for power and to get the Bluetooth sound to work and it worked fine for a day. Everything functioned as normal. For some reason today now when I turn off the car my radio stays on. Not sure why as I checked the power with key off and was no power to either of these wires only with key on. Now for some reason with key off the head unit is keeping constant power and won’t shut off. Please anyone with a solution would be greatly appreciated!!

Doesn't it make perfect sense that the Antenna power line would only be powered in radio mode? Surely that's for a power antenna...

Hi friend, very good video. But I would be very happy if you could help me solve a problem that happened with a 2016 Clio 4, when putting it in reverse the proximity sensors work with the bar indicating the colors, but it does not make the approach sound which helps a lot to notice an object or person without having to look at the screen. With the original screen it worked correctly, I would greatly appreciate if you have any ideas about it, I took it to the technician who installed it and he did not know how to solve it.

AC stopped working in my 2009 Honda Accord after installing an aftermarket android radio. Any idea why that may be??
BTW, if I remove the head unit, and install back everything factory, AC starts working.
    Any help be great...

What if the accessory runs into a canbus? can you connect both canbus and factory amp to the acc?

There are units out there that can hook into Canbus and talk to the car, I don’t have any Canbus vehicles so I have no experience with it.

I am having the same problem and I’m a total noob to wiring things up but I had the blue wire from the amp tapped into the blue antenna and only radio worked like you said. Then I tapped into a red wire in the harness (the only red wire, I don’t have a meter, so I just guessed) but now there is no sound at all. Any further suggestions?

Okay so running the blue to my ACC gave me no audio at all. However, for some reason the harness I got had no pin for the output signal for stereo amplifier on/off (had to make a pin) once i connected the blue to there i had radio audio. And my phone will connect to Bluetooth but shows in red letters and has no Bluetooth audio.

Doesn't it have a remote wire to power on the amp? Mine goes to the remote wire then I can manually switch on and off the external amp thru the screen

I have a Cayenne Gts, and I can't even get radio sound, everything powers on, I just can't get the sound to work.
I have both the canbus and fiber decoder,
The only thing I didn't do was connect this one single blue wire, " without a label "
The blue wire is from the audio aux, harness, any help would be deeply appreciate.

@@bryanlewis6521 nope, I tried one time, and left the Porsche in Florida, I am surmising it has to do with a fuse for the Bose system. One thing that might work is, Have it wired and fully installed, then go to a best buy, drive to the back, and find a Geek from the Geek Squad and hook him up to finish the job. usually the guys at BB are pretty chill, it helps if your a geek. Ill keep you posted,. Let me know if you get it solve .👌
