Go shoot and have FUN forget about winning . The real win is making new friends with a shared interest . You can always plan a new build or buy something different .
I run 223 in prs and with handloads using 75gr projectiles my loads are solid out to 700 yards. Supersonic past 1k. The 223 with the correct projectiles can stretch alot farther than people give it credit. Its not ideal, but I spot my own trace through the scope due to zero recoil.
I'm a die hard magnum man my 300 and 7 mm mag with handloads can handle any hunting or target shooting need I have, great video thanks for sharing, the 223 is a excellent round also just not my choice
If you shoot these events you learn how to move and the equipment that help you do your best learning curve to doing well in these events! Positive attitude 👍
Hey Ben, I just stumbled over your channel and binge watched it. I´ve made the same experiences using my .300 Win Mag on a PRS match. Also I am scratching the mile with it and am contemplating the details of the .375 Chey Tac I want to have build. What were your considerations regarding barrel length and twist? I am planning on using the heavy (400gr. and up) bullets and could go up to a 36 inch barrel in a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist. This consideration keeps me up at night. :D Love your videos. Keep up the great work. Cheers
Man Fred thank you for watching my channel. I’m glad you enjoyed them and I hope will continue to do so. I will have more episodes coming out in the coming months on the 375 Cheytac so please stay tuned. Also feel free to share the channel with mates who might enjoy it also. I’d really appreciate it 👍 For barrel considerations I was a bit limited in what was available in Australia. I had to make a decision on what bullet weight I wanted to shoot very early as this dictated the twist rate needed. Seeing as I intended to shoot into the subsonic range with projectiles of approx 350-400grs I was able to use a 1:9.5” twist Bartlein barrel (which was lucky because that’s all that was available at the time). I’d decided to use Cutting Edge Bullets as they have the biggest range of projectiles in .375 that I could easily get. With the 1:9.5” twist I can stabilise all their .375 projectiles up and a little over 400grs. Seeing as you want to shoot projectiles of 400gr + I’d probably go with a 1:7 twist. This will give you more than enough stability with the heaviest bullets in the worst possible atmospheric conditions. With barrel length I needed to make it a practical length and also I was aware that longer barrels can sometimes be trickier to find a node for. I really took the advice of my gunsmith on this and went with a 32” barrel. I feel that this is a good balance of length and stiffness without putting too much pressure on the Acton with a long heavy barrel hanging out the front. I didn’t want to have to go to a barrel-block arrangement for the build to get around that problem so 32” was a good choice for me. I’m confident I’ve got a reliable and consistent load for the rifle now but I’m always trying to improve the whole package any way I can. I hope your rifle build goes well and thanks again for your feedback and support. I really appreciate it. Cheers Ben
I shoot PRS with a 300 win mag, you guys talking about how your magnum is all you need and blah blah blah. Go shoot a match lol. You'll be extremely humbled
I recently purchased a 300 prc mainly for the awesome ballistics of the cartridge. But also with the intention of maybe shooting it in PRS in the future. I've never shot PRS, but I'd like to give it whirl. Do you find the 5-round mags a hindrance to your game? Or do you just simply learn how to do quick mag changes while on the clock?
@@DrewMonge here in Australia our PRS matches are very different to the way they are run in the US because of our laws. All our matches have to be on a static range which is pretty short (500-600m) so to make the shoot challenging we have tight times to shoot a stage. Because if this even with slick Mag changes it was hard not to time out on a stage. So for our style of match I would say yes, 5 round mags slow you down. But for a different style of match it may not be an issue. I hope you get to stretch your PRC in you matches. I hope you enjoy the other videos on this channel 👍🏼
Did you not know it was going to be shorter range and that you'd have to be shooting the gun fast? 300 win is kind of like an old man, slow but gets the job done.
Curtis I did know the ranges were going to be shorter but I didn’t appreciate how much of a handicap the extra length and limited magazine capacity would actually be. I also didn’t appreciate how important recoil management and quick cycling is either. I actually learned a lot from using the rifle in that comp. thanks for watching mate and I hope you enjoy the other videos on the channel! 👍🏼
300 win mag to shoot at 500 meter tagets?? why the hell you wast it.. 77gr 556 you can hit at 1000 meters... 700 win im sorry i wouldnt use it less the 700 yards

It's weird that pirates would go shore to shore looking for buried treasure, when the real treasure was in the friendships they were making

what barrel length?
@@bjornegan6421 one rifle is a 20", my other is 24". Run a fast twist rate barrel with good projectiles and it can stretch out

Great vids Ben! Keep them coming mate. Greg
you're totally Right! Anything below .338 LM is made for Shooting Squirrels. :D ;) if you're looking for ELR, or ULR, go for .375 cheytac or bigger.
smrettpecca you should check out my other episodes on my 375 CheyTac then! 👍🏼 thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the other episodes
@@TheLongGunProject I subscribed to your channel and waiting for the next Episode. ;)
I would definitely want something with low recoil and flat shooting.
30-378 weatherby mag
Lesson learned time to improve!
Subscribed :) really interesting so far. Keep it up
Yup expensive to shoot and more recoil can’t stay on target after the shot !
