    You may have been able to mitigate the problem with the ends by forging them down first, before you welded on the handle. Anyway, great video as always.

      @MatheisVdl He didn't remove the zinc coating. It was why it didn't meld together well during forging.
      That knife will chip and crack.
      He doesn't know what he is doing. Watching him pack the canister should have shown you that.

    • @MatheisVdl
      @MatheisVdl День назад

      @ removing the zinc coating on the bolt would be almost impossible plus he actually didn’t use that steel to make the edge he made some type of San mai using good steel for the core and this knife was just supposed to be a fun challenge…

      @Facetiously.Esoteric День назад

      @MatheisVdl Wrong. It's an easy soak and rinse.
      Another person too lazy to look up readily available information.

      Disgusting simping.

      Also I don't know what country you are from, but in Germany/Austria stainless steel nuts are made from V2A or V4A (sometimes A1 or A5 stainless steel) and thus not coated in zinc.
      Also to be fair, I can't really see how his canister is any indication on his skills as a knifemaker, since, according to you, the only thing he didn't do correctly was remove the non-existent zinc from the nuts.
