When DB pair up fights they don't look at that, they go by characters who are similar. It's not about the fights being fair. For example, Crona has her black goop blood Venom has black goop symbiote. @@why7450 Crona was deliberately designed to be genderless. In the original Japanese version, they referred to Crona without using any pronouns at all! However, when the manga was translated into English (and subsequently adapted into an anime), they/them pronouns weren't particularly well-known at the time. They didn't want to use it/its pronouns because they felt it might sound too disrespectful, so they settled with he/him pronouns. Also, when they decided on he/him, they didn't actually intend for it to signify Crona as male or masculine, but rather, it was intended to reference mankind/humankind in general. In the same way that sometimes "man" or "men" stands for all of humankind, regardless of sex or gender. However, much much later, Crona's pronouns in the manga's official English translation got switched to they/them- further cementing the creator's intent for Crona to be non-binary.
Death lookign goofy actually HAS a good reason behind it: its that death wanted to open a school to train meisters, but children were terrified of him and would just run away. So basically he changed his look and demeanor to goofy ones to appeal to children, and he's been using that personnality for so long it takes a LOT for him to be completely serious and scary again.
He even changed his voice to be goofier to be more appealing. His true voice occasionally slips when he's extremely pissed off (a feat that is surprisingly hard to do) and said voice combined with his old look is pretty much a classic grim reaper.

I agree. It's been decidedly canon for years that the symbiotes' greatest weakness is sound. Crona's primarily ability is a sonic blast that can damage living metal. Definitely one of the most unbalanced Death Battles.

Physical attacks will do nothing to Crona because of the black blood he has which is essentially that Ragnarok character coming from his back.
To be honest at first I thought Venom was going to win. Mostly because I'm not well known with the soul eater lore, but the very first time I heard Corona having sound attacks I knew that Eddie had already lost
Knowing the two characters, I just knew it was going to come down to Venom having no real counter to scream resonance, any character with any type of vulnerability to sound is doomed against Crona, even characters without vulnerabilities take stupid amounts of damage from it
In the Death Battle cast when they said that this battle was alot like Carnage vs Lucy they weren't-a kiddin'. Even though I really believe Carnage could/would have won that fight.

Regarding death's appearance, he made himself look silly on purpose because he didn't want to scare his students at the school. When he fights seriously, he looks much more impressive.
I know! They’re my favorite character in the entire Soul Eater series. However, especially in the manga, they’re the most terrifying character in the whole Soul Eater series to me lol.
Looks to be another example of two characters that look similar enough on paper at first glance to be a "natural" fight, but when broken down to the specifics one character is completely outmatched by the other in every possible category *and* has an attack set that just so happens to prey on the other's weaknesses. Not sure this should have really been a fight, honestly.
This was completely bias. They used a character who specifically uses sound base attacks. Against a character who's weakness is sound and fire. That's just bias.
But there's so many similarities that makes this matchup reasonable. They both have black symbiotic goo partners to fight with. She wasn't chosen coz she has sound. You know what that sounds like, imagine if Crona had a weakness to webs. Would you say, "oh an unfair matchup" and literally ignore everything else about it, like c'mon buddy.

Majora's Mask Moon. It's a full moon and obliterates all of Termina when it falls. The Soul Eater Moon is a crescent moon and doesn't have the full mass of a full moon so there is a chance that if it fell there could be survivors.

@@mason9003 eh, Crona and Ragnarok did a lot of the moon feet themselves in the manga and DB does sometimes give powerups. Since Crona currently has it in-canon DB might go with the full moon feat too. Venom will have to surprise me in power to break through the magic blood or to overpower in other ways.

Mason Glover Ah, but Ragnarok is also like a Symbiote in some ways. Both can create weapons out of their own body, both can act as some sort of armor for their hosts, both have some degree of control over their hosts’ bodies, etc. Ragnorok is basically Corona’s Venom. Plus, Ragnorok and Corona operate under the wavelength of Madness, making it hard to break their minds.
You know, symbiotes always get some of the coolest moments in this series. Between “Pop goes the weasel,” “Carnage is starving,” and a Nightmare Before Christmas reference, they just always get the best moments.

As other people have said, this was very one sided, not only because crona literally has venom's weakness, but also because crona uses magic essentially. Venom doesn't have any defense against the soul based attacks crona could have used.

Honestly if they use the best version of one character then they have to use the best of the other character. The reason for this especially with Comics is the fact that comic book authors are always changing and comics go through reboot every 5 years or so. So typically even though one character will become op due to arcs the next writer will usually just restore the status Qo

True, but I did mention a character who was used twice and won twice. It's fair to say that the only reason he did was because the second time was a rematch with goku. However, there's a contradiction with your point due to the statistics of wins for characters who were reused. Batman and Sonic have been use three times and they won once, while leonardo and wonder woman had been used three times and each won twice. My point to counter your point is that it's not usually that next match will be a lost for the reused character, but that it is either a fifty-fifty chance that venom will get another win or get his first lost.
There is a way Crona could have avoided fighting Venom altogether. Venom: (grabs Crona by the throat and lifts him up) "Eyes, lungs, pancreas. So many snacks so little time." Crona: (whimpers while Venom sadistically licks his face) "Read this, please!" (holds up a poem he wrote in Venom's face) Venom: (confused, he takes a quick look at the poem before putting Crona down, walking over to the adjacent wall and sitting down facing toward it) "This makes me wish I'd never been born." Crona: (deciding to join Venom in sulking, he sits down at his left) "I wish that I'd never been born." Boomstick: (appearing out of nowhere, sulking at Venom's right) "I wish that my dad had never abandoned me." Venom: (startled by Boomstick's sudden appearance) "What the?! Who're you, and where'd you come from?!"

I think Ghost Rider vs Crona would've been a closer match. Like venom, ghost rider shares two minds, Zarathos and Johnny Blaze. And both Crona and Ghost Rider are demon-orientated.
Sorry that most battles arent so super close that theyre almost even in every category, but thats just how match ups work, cause almost 80% of any match up will go that way, inevitably one character will always have greater feats than the other, or will have hard counters against the other They don't immediately know who's going to win before they research, at first glance it's easy to assume Venom would win Even with the screech, you could still make the argument that Venom developed a tolerance for that kind of thing Plus, This was actually a popular match up for crona and they knew absolutely nothing about SoulEater before this
Pitting a sound weak enemy against an enemy who uses sound based attacks primarily. Yeah Crona has this one in the bag. Vemon may have built up a tolerance to sound base attacks but the level that Crona uses means he is doomed. This was way to one sided.

@@hihibye2324 ig she did and I was speaking off based on the anime I need to re read the manga but I do know for certain Stein stopped the resonance between Crona and Ragnarok to where they were unbalanced sorta and he was able to damage them other than that no one else was able to do any damage neither was Maka and even when she was using the black blood at best in the anime all she did was toss him around maybe cut him a few times then he started going through soul rejection again(spike black blood popping out of his body constantly)

Not going to lie, this kind of seemed pretty one sided. Like, I know it's cool that you went with two symbiotic characters, but Crona's main ability is literally sound based and everybody knows that's Venom's biggest weakness. Haha. To he fair, the showed his resistance to sonic attacks is greater than a human can withstand. About 180d is dangerous, Venon took way more than that and survived. Crona's Screech Resonance is dangerous to anyone.

Anime Crona would lose to that so in that sense yes, that is why most of us expected them to lose (y'know, death battle's track record of ignoring feats and shiz). But they're using manga Crona's feats here, in the manga they are a Kishin (or rather ate one and fused with it), the living embodiment of madness (deadpools), they do constant mental attacks on a planetary scale just by existing (sorta like lovecraftian creatures, but less broken) that's the passive of every Kishin, while they cannot corrupt venom since he was worn by deadpool, there is literally nothing that could affect them any more mentally.

Fairness doesn't really matter, battles are between characters who have similarities overall, not necessarily comparible power but you are right, it was a good one
Death Battle isn't about picking fair fights, it's about making two character with a key similarity fight... in this case, Crona and Venom both have a symbiote that is black in color... and that's enough for them to start researching and decide a winner... at the very least they actually gave the win to the character who would realistically win... I mean at least they didn't pull a Green Lanturn VS Ben 10 and basically crap halfway through the research on one of the competitors so the more popular one would win... I actually was legit worried that'd happen here considering Venom is another popular comic book character... I legit almost thought they were gonna practically ignore the manga and only show what Crona did in the Anime... and if they did I'd say they shouldn't be allowed to take comics into consideration since a Manga is just a comic for Anime, and if you only took Anime Crona and what Venom has done in Cartoons and movies... Crona would STILL win

The King In Black is basically a whole new symbiote. Bedlam vs Crona likely wouldn't go much differently, and giving Brock the powers of Captain Universe is overkill.

Lol just because A possesses B's weakness doesn't mean the fight is unfair or uninteresting. The entire point of these fights is how characters' abilities act and counteract one another. By that logic Batman VS CA Superman is an unfair fight in favor of Batman because he has access to kryptonite.

However, when the manga was translated into English (and subsequently adapted into an anime), they/them pronouns weren't particularly well-known at the time. They didn't want to use it/its pronouns because they felt it might sound too disrespectful, so they settled with he/him pronouns. Also, when they decided on he/him, they didn't actually intend for it to signify Crona as male or masculine, but rather, it was intended to reference mankind/humankind in general. In the same way that sometimes "man" or "men" stands for all of humankind, regardless of sex or gender.
However, much much later, Crona's pronouns in the manga's official English translation got switched to they/them- further cementing the creator's intent for Crona to be non-binary.

Death lookign goofy actually HAS a good reason behind it: its that death wanted to open a school to train meisters, but children were terrified of him and would just run away. So basically he changed his look and demeanor to goofy ones to appeal to children, and he's been using that personnality for so long it takes a LOT for him to be completely serious and scary again.
We see him be serious against Asura but even then he doesn't change his look

I agree. It's been decidedly canon for years that the symbiotes' greatest weakness is sound. Crona's primarily ability is a sonic blast that can damage living metal. Definitely one of the most unbalanced Death Battles.

@@xboxfanboy59 I see I see, but even then he just can't beat Crona, and don't worry I'm not a fan of the character I do like the anime but I was always more of a Marvel person anyways. I just don't know too much about venom, more so about Deadpool, Batman, and Spawn of all peeps. But even then, Venom literally can't beat the kid, he would still attacks from a supernatural sythe, even point blank bullets and stuff, Venom literally has no way of defeating Crona and that's why I don't think he's a good enough match. and it's not just him but pretty much a majority of physical characters who can't really tamper with souls.
The only characters I know who can pretty much defeat him is soul stealers and such. Physical attacks will do nothing to Crona because of the black blood he has which is essentially that Ragnarok character coming from his back.
To be honest at first I thought Venom was going to win. Mostly because I'm not well known with the soul eater lore, but the very first time I heard Corona having sound attacks I knew that Eddie had already lost
Knowing the two characters, I just knew it was going to come down to Venom having no real counter to scream resonance, any character with any type of vulnerability to sound is doomed against Crona, even characters without vulnerabilities take stupid amounts of damage from it

Looks to be another example of two characters that look similar enough on paper at first glance to be a "natural" fight, but when broken down to the specifics one character is completely outmatched by the other in every possible category *and* has an attack set that just so happens to prey on the other's weaknesses. Majora's Mask Moon. It's a full moon and obliterates all of Termina when it falls. The Soul Eater Moon is a crescent moon and doesn't have the full mass of a full moon so there is a chance that if it fell there could be survivors.

Since Crona currently has it in-canon DB might go with the full moon feat too. Venom will have to surprise me in power to break through the magic blood or to overpower in other ways.

Ah, but Ragnarok is also like a Symbiote in some ways. Both can create weapons out of their own body, both can act as some sort of armor for their hosts, both have some degree of control over their hosts’ bodies, etc. Ragnorok is basically Corona’s Venom. Plus, Ragnorok and Corona operate under the wavelength of Madness, making it hard to break their minds.

As other people have said, this was very one sided, not only because crona literally has venom's weakness, but also because crona uses magic essentially. Venom doesn't have any defense against the soul based attacks crona could have used.

The reason for this especially with Comics is the fact that comic book authors are always changing and comics go through reboot every 5 years or so. So typically even though one character will become op due to arcs the next writer will usually just restore the status Qo

True, but I did mention a character who was used twice and won twice. It's fair to say that the only reason he did was because the second time was a rematch with goku. However, there's a contradiction with your point due to the statistics of wins for characters who were reused. Batman and Sonic have been use three times and they won once, while leonardo and wonder woman had been used three times and each won twice. My point to counter your point is that it's not usually that next match will be a lost for the reused character, but that it is either a fifty-fifty chance that venom will get another win or get his first lost.

Pitting a sound weak enemy against an enemy who uses sound based attacks primarily. Yeah Crona has this one in the bag. Vemon may have built up a tolerance to sound base attacks but the level that Crona uses means he is doomed. This was way to one sided.
May as well have been putting him against sirenhead...
Even than I'm pretty sure Crona can only be killed by someone using Black Blood. Venom was screwed before the fight started.

It's been a while since I read Soul eater could be crossing wires i just remembered Crona could get hacked and stabbed to hell but it didnt do anything till Maka used the Blood.
@@hihibye2324 ig she did and I was speaking off based on the anime I need to re read the manga but I do know for certain Stein stopped the resonance between Crona and Ragnarok to where they were unbalanced sorta and he was able to damage them other than that no one else was able to do any damage neither was Maka and even when she was using the black blood at best in the anime all she did was toss him around maybe cut him a few times then he started going through soul rejection again(spike black blood popping out of his body constantly)

In all fairness black blood still has the properties and weaknesses of regular blood (if i remember correctly) so if venom wanted he might be able to bond with Ragnarok.

@@ssj4holden72 He has abandoned Eddie before for stronger hosts and has shown to be able to manage to fuse with those much more durable than black blood is such as Galactus. So basically the outcome would be determined by whether Venom will touch the blood first or will Ragnarok scream first.

Not going to lie, this kind of seemed pretty one sided. Like, I know it's cool that you went with two symbiotic characters, but Crona's main ability is literally sound based and everybody knows that's Venom's biggest weakness. Haha. Anime Crona would lose to that so in that sense yes, that is why most of us expected them to lose (y'know, death battle's track record of ignoring feats and shiz).
But they're using manga Crona's feats here, in the manga they are a Kishin (or rather ate one and fused with it), the living embodiment of madness (deadpools), they do constant mental attacks on a planetary scale just by existing (sorta like lovecraftian creatures, but less broken) that's the passive of every Kishin, while they cannot corrupt venom since he was worn by deadpool, there is literally nothing that could affect them any more mentally.

Fairness doesn't really matter, battles are between characters who have similarities overall, not necessarily comparible power but you are right, it was a good one
Death Battle isn't about picking fair fights, it's about making two character with a key similarity fight... in this case, Crona and Venom both have a symbiote that is black in color... and that's enough for them to start researching and decide a winner... at the very least they actually gave the win to the character who would realistically win... I mean at least they didn't pull a Green Lanturn VS Ben 10 and basically crap halfway through the research on one of the competitors so the more popular one would win... I actually was legit worried that'd happen here considering Venom is another popular comic book character... I legit almost thought they were gonna practically ignore the manga and only show what Crona did in the Anime... and if they did I'd say they shouldn't be allowed to take comics into consideration since a Manga is just a comic for Anime, and if you only took Anime Crona and what Venom has done in Cartoons and movies... Not to mention Crona's backstory is also incredibly similar to Lucy's (i.e. becoming a serial murderer because of a traumatic childhood), so no idea why you're favoring one over the other. I wouldn’t say carnage didn’t have a chance, Venom took hits from the Juggernaut and Hulk, to which they are both way stronger than a nuke, and Carnage is superior to Venom, and Lucy was also buffed.
