I just realized something. When Dio started throwing knives at Alucard, they weren’t originally something he brought from home. He got them from a cutlery store in the background. You can even see the glass shattering after Dio does a time stop, implying he quickly ran in and stole as much as he could carry.
17:14 bro the detail, dio doesnt have knifes on him and theres a weapon store next to him, he stops time, breaks the window, grab the knifes, comes back and continue fighting
They did the same thing in the Stardust Crusaders OVA as well. It didn't really show up in the modern adaptation but in the OVA, there's a scene where DIO broke into a restaurant during his time stop and grabbed all of the knives. Though now that i look at it again, I'm pretty sure that restaurant can be seen in SC during the scene where DIO destroyed all of those civillians (who were seen sitting at tables and eating) and killed Joseph with a knife to his throat.
What I like is that, since Dio possessed Jonathon's body, Alucard _technically_ did die to a noble warrior. And what blood can be more noble than that of a Joestar?
I like how most episodes have to toss the fighters morals out the window to have the fight make sense. But in this one, this is what the fighters would actually do.
I mean... dio just kills for fun more or less. Alucard kills vampires as they rejected their purer Human nature. Exactly what Dio has done. So it kinda makes them destined Rivals from the very moment they meet
I just also realized before DIO leaped on the Big Ben, The World's leg briefly appears because Jotaro and DIO used the legs of their Stands to leap, making people thought that they could fly.
@@Jamlord2061 I think it has to do with his nullification ability. Maybe he's resetting his gravity to 0 so it doesn't affect him? That's what I assume at least
Also, The World is strong enough to obliterate Alucard's entire body in a normal barrage of punches anyway. Even if Dio wouldn't figure out that Alucard's heart is his weakness, Dio would target the heart anyway since Dio has such a major habit of obliterating the bodies of his enemies (donuting Kakyoin, caving in Polnareff's torso, nearly crushing Jotaro into a pancake with the Road Roller, etc).
Even setting that aside, Alucard's heart is the only thing remaining after his eye beams destroy him. Dio is very perceptive and likely caught onto that being his source of regeneration.
@@itsyogirlcrim1476 Exactly. The fact alone that Alucard would not be able to see The World would itself be enough to tell Dio that Alucard isn't a Stand user, unlike Jotaro or Joseph (just to be clear for any Hellsing fanboys watching this, but The General's smoke form is _not_ comparable to a Stand). This by itself would also allow Dio to adjust his strategy more accurately, including Alucard's heart being a weak point. This is actually important, because some people try to argue that Dio lost his Part 1 powers (freezing, eye beams, body control, etc) in Part 3, but this is incorrect: the entire reason that Dio doesn't use some of his Part 1 powers against Jotaro is because those vampire powers are _NOT_ useful in Stand fights. For instance, Dio's freezing wouldn't work on Star Platinum since there is no moisture in non-Bound Stands, and Jotaro could just use Star Platinum's materialized body to harmlessly block the eye beams if Dio tried to use that attack on Jotaro (which is why Dio instead chose to use a hail of metal knives for danmaku to overload Star Platinum's accuracy). That's the real reason Dio chose not to use those powers in Part 3, instead of the bull idea that he lost them. Therefore, Dio figuring out that Alucard _ISN'T_ a Stand user would allow Dio to use those powers to their fullest; freezing Alucard solid in any moment Alucard tries to touch him, Dio using the eye beams to chop up Alucard and/or Alucard's army in one blast, etc.
@@mrreyes5004 Even then, with HFTF it outright shows Dio can use his Part 1 powers to begin with by displaying moves such as the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes and Cryokinesis grabs. Even if you set that aside and still don't buy him being able to use those abilities, drinking enough blood from Alucard should help him gain full control over Jonathan's body to enable him to use those abilities anyway. No matter how you look at it, he'll still likely be able to use them eventually at some point in the fight which would severely hinder Alucard further given the stat advantage Dio already holds over him on top of the time stop.
@@jascarnage7chaosofdarkness818 If this was highest version of Dio vs regular Alucard you'd all be right. Schrodinger Alucard is vastly superior as he has infinite lives, not 3 million. Well Dios powers mostly rely on his opponents *not* having the same powers or a counter to said powers. Time Stop does nothing when your opponent also stops time. Stands not being affected by non-stands doesnt help when your opponent uses a stand. His vampire powers rely on the enemy not knowing hamon. etc.
Dio was so fast, he managed to do his hair and put on lipstick in 2 seconds Edit: Lmao 1k likes thx I’m glad we can all see where Dio’s priorities were
Personally, I feel like a winner for not having watched it. I find it baffling that people talk about a COMEDY parody like it is a substitute for the real thing.
Well the animation Isn’t the only thing you should judge a episode on (Especially sense the fights normally only 1/5 of the episode). These were some of the best and most entertaining and entertaining analyses Death Battle has ever produced (especially the editing).
For those who liked the voice acting I would like to point out the guy who voices Alucard in this also voices him it the Hellsing abridged by Team Fours Star which is so hilarious and just great!
Truthfully DIO only ever lost to the Jojos because he always tries to savor his time killing them because of his grudge. He had several opportunities in Part 3 to kill Jojo and his friends, but instead of just killing them in a second, he wanted to draw it out and make them suffer, ultimately giving them time to figure out his ability and fight back. DIO versus anybody else is usually as quick as eating a bread honestly.
So if DIO can defeat Alucard, and Jotaro can defeat DIO... That means a bunch of rats can defeat Alucard Edit: guys it's a joke by the way, I encourage you to read the replies to this comment because everyone keeps saying the exact same thing

And when I actually got 0.1% more aware, looked at the stats and formed by own opinion, I legimitely had that Mark Grayson "I thought you were stronger!" moment (Seriously, for how badass Alucard is, it's surprising how overall mid his stats are lol)
That was the same for me for Goku vs Superman 1 and Pokemon vs Digimon way back in the day. The salt was real for young me. Honestly, I think only really started taking a deep dive into character’s stats when Wally vs Archie Sonic rolled around lol, even then I sucked at gettin’ my point across.

Wouldn't Schrodinger's power let him live because if he was losing so many souls wouldn't he just pick immortality instead of extra lives and if the moonlight is reflected sunlight wouldn't it do the same damage to dio as the sun does thus hindering dio from ever going outside
Here's a quote from the QNA to illustrate just how badly DIO outclasses Alucard In short, while Alucard clearly has advantages, chiefly his broken healing factor and survivability, he cannot capitalize on this like he can in the rest of his fights. The difference between opponents like Anderson, Alhambra, Rip, and Walter versus DIO is that the latter far outstrips the Hellsing-verse in stats like strength, speed, and durability, and has a lot of hax that both counters Alucard’s own abilities and that Alucard simultaneously does not have a defense against. This essentially gives DIO numerous “cushions” against Alucard’s offense, while also allowing him to deplete Alucard’s massive but still limited health pool at his leisure. For instance, the time stop: Alucard has no way to avoid or circumvent the time stop other than regenerating after being pummeled during it. He could use an illusion to trick DIO and bait a time stop, but DIO’s time stops get longer and longer each time they’re used, giving more time for DIO to discover he’s been had and react accordingly. Jotaro’s time stop could be more easily predicted because its duration was static (five seconds), so the distance Jotaro could move and his eventual location were more predictable (as with the fight against Ratt). Not so here. Alucard has no way to consistently plan against what Dio will do during a time stop, and frankly his illusions are fairly basic (he uses it once out of desperation in order to avoid certain death; never before and never again). Because Dio’s speed is so much greater, he can also time stop reflexively if he is caught off guard, while Alucard is essentially moving in slow motion. If the stats were not so much in Dio’s favor, his hax would indeed only be delaying the inevitable, but in combination they form a multi-layered defense. Even if Alucard gets past the time stop, he has to deal with The World, which is fast enough to blitz and intercept him, and which will defend Dio automatically. Even if he gets past The World, he’d have to get past Dio’s own attacks. Dio was able to match Star Platinum in strength and speed without The World’s help (during road roller da), so Alucard would again be physically outmatched and torn to pieces. Even if he does get a hit on Dio, Dio can freeze anything that touches him reflexively. If Alucard tried a sneak attack or attempted to drink Dio’s blood, he’d just get frozen and shattered. Rinse and repeat. Even if Dio decides not to freeze him, frankly, his durability should be so much higher than Alucard’s strength that he shouldn’t be able to do appreciable damage. He’s taken hits from Star Platinum, and even a fraction of that is more than what Alucard is packing physically. Even if Alucard does somehow manage to do damage, Dio can just regenerate. His healing factor isn’t as good as Alucard’s, but it doesn’t need to be, it just needs to be good enough to survive the kind of damage Alucard can do. Dio can survive being blown into pieces (after Jotaro defeats him at the end of Part 3, it’s stated he’s still alive in the next chapter), and has shown to be able to stop time with a hole in his head. Take damage -> stop time -> heal (with the option of drinking Al’s blood as well). Getting hit is not the end for him. That’s what we mean by a multi-layered defense. And Alucard’s own options can’t compensate in return. Dio can just stop time and destroy Alucard’s guns right off the bat, and Alucard’s telekinesis is measurably too weak to affect Dio, forcing Al to rely on hand-to-hand combat which Dio has several counters for. (My notes: Schrodinger does nothing to alleviate these issues and at best for Alucard makes it a tie) In addition, to those saying that the sun would stop DIO from being able to whittle Alucard away, here's what the QNA says: Vampires in Hellsing don’t disintegrate while exposed to sunlight like DIO does. So Alucard wouldn’t know about DIO’s weakness, and wouldn’t think to outlast him until sunrise. DIO also isn’t an idiot, and wouldn’t stand out in the open while the sun is about to come up. Even assuming the fight took place in a barren wasteland with no buildings or surroundings to use for cover, DIO could either punch up terrain to create barriers against the sunlight, or just take the fight underground by creating a tunnel with The World. Jotaro has implemented similar strategies against The Sun (the Stand, not the celestial object), and the Wheel of Fortune. DIO should be able to do the same, since they both have the same type of Stand. (My notes: DIO would only be defeated by sunlight if an opponent was able to either force him into it or render him comatose (like Jotaro did). This wouldn't be possible with an opponent so much weaker than him like Alucard) Also for those screaming about the HMS feat for Alucard, moving a ship slowly through water is less impressive than punching meteors.
@AmericanBrit9834 the first time I watched this episode I only knew JoJo and didn't know much of Hellsing and after the analysis I was sure Alucard would win but come to the fight and Dio won.😳 I was shocked and surprise, "how did Dio defeat his horrifying eldritch abomination?" but the post analysis and explanation was actually convincing enough that yes Dio *is* the winner Honestly, Death Battle should do qna more often
Underrated moment at 19:16 The shot of Alucard ripping his own frozen arms off, growing them back and getting ready to attack again was one of the most gnarly moments in DB history imo
"DIO not playing around but going for the direct kill" bro has never seen a single dio fight or what? he is the DEFINITION of toying with your enemies instead of going for the direct kill lmfao
I feel like they unintentionally handy capped Alucard in this fight by having him ramp up to Level 0 way too fast, compared to his canonical rate in the manga/anime. Even against another True Vampire, he'd start at Level 2, or even 3, and build up in power over time as needed. When he beats Rip and Aderson (whose healing would be on par with someone like Dio), he was only at Level 2 or 1. At that speed, he'd have figured out how Dio's The World works, even without taking the time to just read Dio's mind, since he's not stupid and has been amazingly fast at adapting his strategies during combat.
The animation's just for entertainment purposes, it's not meant to be totally accurate. It's basically the animators having fun for the sake of cool, and they also don't really have the time or budget to extend the fight that long (some stuff was already cut besides that). And DIO punching through a zombie army is just too awesome. Regardless, DIO's waaaay more powerful than anybody Alucard's faced, so those situations can't be compared to here. I'm also not really sure where you're getting that Alucard slowly ramps up, that Anderson's healing is greater than DIO's, that he can read minds, or "amazingly fast at adapting strategies". Against Luke he just got excited and went straight for Level 1. Anderson can't heal from heavy damage, like when his arm got torn off, while DIO compares to Straits pulling his entire body back together. Alucard's only "read minds" when he's turned them into familiars after killing them, he's never really pulled a Charles Xavier. (Even then, DIO defended against Joseph using Hermit Purple to read his mind) And Alucard's never really done much complex showings like that, most fights are won mainly through overpowering the opponent, the only exception is Vamp Walter. (Even then, no amount of intelligence or time will really matter against something he can't see, hear, or touch on top of being too fast to keep up with)
A minor thing to mention is that, but also helps DIO's advantage, is that Alucard's pistols would not be that effective against him Other than DIO's regeneration makes him being able to ignore the fatality of gunshot wounds, the guns' holy effects would not even work and become invalid Since in Jojo, Vampires also work on a pseudo-scientific biological way. They are not vampires in the sense that christ imagery or holy artifacts and powers would be harmful or at leas weaken them So to DIO, the pistols are just regular pistols

@@geraldyeager7652 Outside context scenarios can and have been the sort of thing that can end lives and empires like a sentence stops at a period. Luckily it works both ways and in Dio’s favor, but you can tell he’ll probably be rethinking his entire life up to that point after the rush of victory dies down.
The authors do not know the real power of Alucard. When Alucard absorbed the soul of the Nazi "Schroedenger's Cat", he began to exist anywhere in his universe and it is no longer possible to kill him, since he is no longer alive and dead, while playing with probabilities. And in addition, Alucard would not waste his trump card in the form of a zero seal on one target. He would limit himself to breaking the seal of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd levels of restrictions, since Dio would not survive against the original vampire, even using the time stop. After all, there was already an enemy who was moving faster than a bullet Luke Valentaen and Alucard killed him without straining.
First I was thinking, "Couldn't Alucard just stall until the sun came out and beat Dio that way?" But then I remembered that Dio isn't dumb enough to stand around and let the sun kill him. We're talking about a man who once cut off his own head to avoid being vaporized - he knows when it's better to cut and run. I mean, the guy even ran from Jotaro the first time he caved his skull in. Best-case scenario for Alucard is that the fight devolves into a game of hide-and-seek where Alucard hunts Dio during the day and Dio hunts Alucard at night.
Finally, an intelligent comment People seem to forget that DIO is a very surprisingly tactical vampire, staying cautious, not taking second chances against certain opponents (like choosing to decapitate Jotaro despite learning he's supposedly dead) and delaying his attacks or even retreating when it's necessary for his survival If DIO was up against someone he was much faster and stronger than him, but couldn't die immediately, I imagined he take liberties in staying cautious on whatever else he was capable of.
@@modernhiendai 1. Even though he's never done that He can only absorb their abilities if he completely absorbs them. 2. That's not how stands work Even then, unless Alucard conveniently gets a stand that's as powerful as the world and conveniently has an ability that counters the time stop, that's just a fanfiction baseless argument.
Even though Dio won (and with a lot going in his favor for the analysis), I love how there were plenty of moments where he was straight up terrified. Like, there were points in the fight were he was freaking out because of Alucard’s demeanor and power set being so different from what he’s used to.
The battle really got their character right. DIO is arrogant, but he's not a fool. When there's something he doesn't understand, he's going to be scared of it (such as when he perceived Jotaro moving in his stopped time). When Alucard got back from the Road Roller, the way he came back made it evident that he wasn't the same kind of vampire as DIO, and rather than risk being insta-killed by an ability that blindsighted him, he let The World approach it so he could try and figure out what was going on. And that's really what he did for most of the fight. After a rather easy trade of blows for him, he stayed on the defensive as he studied Alucard's fighting style. At the end of the battle, he went back to his god-complexed attitude because he had actually seen Alucard in action and understood how his powers worked, thus he was confident in beating him.
This fight was insane. The voice acting was top notch, the action was over the top, I swear it could have been a chapter from Jojo with Dio and Alucard dueling with the arms of the clock tower!

The voice actor of Dio in this was really good. The mudas were consistent and actually sounds like him say MUDA, instead of how it sounds from Patrick Seitz (I'm not saying Patrick is a bad voice actor, I just don't like his MUDA rush)
To be serious, all the voice actors in the Jojo part 3 english dub were not bad actors, they just didn't have the same energy the Japanese VAs do. Though if we're honest, that's a pretty high bar to reach.
I still feel like if Dio was faster than light he wouldn't even need to stop time, but maybe light just doesn't haul nearly as much ass in the JOJO universe.
The world has an effective range of about 2 to 3 meters. Meaning that if The World traveled any further than the effective range, it would get progressively weaker.
I mean when you're fighting stands that move at the same speed (Star Platinum, Silver Chariot, etc.) then you kinda need to stop them from moving to get an advantage over them.
I love how at the end, DIO hypes Alucard up with the screaming and moving like he was going to punch Only to time stop behind him, perfectly showing off the trickery aspect of jojo, DIO was done perfectly imo in every aspect

Boomstick's "99 Bottles" Stand would one shot both Dio and Alucard. All jokes aside, the voice acting and fighting animation is actually insane in this Death battle.
I can at least take comfort in knowing that this would be the ultimate insult to DIO. See, Alucard always says that 'only a man can kill a monster', and DIO was so proud of 'rejecting his humanity'. This victory means that there's still some humanity left in him.
But this also could be a insult to Alucard's way of thinking. As in this death battle, DIO successfully proof to Alucard that the bigger monster will always come out on top.
My main problem with this Death Battle is that they forgot one key significant thing: at the end of the Hellsing series, Alucard absorbs the powers of Shrodinger gaining omnipresence. He is everywhere and nowhere. I can understand why they excluded this, as it makes him impossible to actually be defeated. However, if they are pitting two oppositions at their STRONGEST, I don't think this is a fair representation.

To be fair, Jojo’s vampire only being weak to sunlight, hamon, and stand powers is really what seals it. At that point, all Alucard has to do is wait out the sun to kill Dio, and that's only IF, and I mean IF holy weapons can't hurt him (and I highly doubt they don't, considering part 7, even if that takes place in an alternate universe). "How would Dio know to attack his heart" Lmao he does it 30 times in the show
Also, The World is strong enough to obliterate Alucard's entire body in a normal barrage of punches anyway.
Here's a quote from the QNA to illustrate just how badly DIO outclasses Alucard
In short, while Alucard clearly has advantages, chiefly his broken healing factor and survivability, he cannot capitalize on this like he can in the rest of his fights.
(My notes: Schrodinger does nothing to alleviate these issues and at best for Alucard makes it a tie)
In addition, to those saying that the sun would stop DIO from being able to whittle Alucard away, here's what the QNA says:
Vampires in Hellsing don’t disintegrate while exposed to sunlight like DIO does.

Cell vs abridged Alucard
Last time I checked you had 666K, now it’s 677K.
(Even then, no amount of intelligence or time will really matter against something he can't see, hear, or touch on top of being too fast to keep up with)
Fun fact, jouji nakata, the guy that voiced Alucard, actually voiced Pucci too, Dio's best friend.

A minor thing to mention is that, but also helps DIO's advantage, is that Alucard's pistols would not be that effective against him
Other than DIO's regeneration makes him being able to ignore the fatality of gunshot wounds, the guns' holy effects would not even work and become invalid
Since in Jojo, Vampires also work on a pseudo-scientific biological way. They are not vampires in the sense that christ imagery or holy artifacts and powers would be harmful or at leas weaken them
So to DIO, the pistols are just regular pistols

Outside context scenarios can and have been the sort of thing that can end lives and empires like a sentence stops at a period.
Finally, an intelligent comment
People seem to forget that DIO is a very surprisingly tactical vampire, staying cautious, not taking second chances against certain opponents (like choosing to decapitate Jotaro despite learning he's supposedly dead) and delaying his attacks or even retreating when it's necessary for his survival
If DIO was up against someone he was much faster and stronger than him, but couldn't die immediately, I imagined he take liberties in staying cautious on whatever else he was capable of.
But Alucard can take abilities of someone absorbed by him. If Alucard take down Dio's underlings then he will gain Stand and can deal dmg to Dio.
@@modernhiendai
1. Even though he's never done that

Even though Dio won (and with a lot going in his favor for the analysis), I love how there were plenty of moments where he was straight up terrified. Like, there were points in the fight were he was freaking out because of Alucard’s demeanor and power set being so different from what he’s used to.
I mean in Jojo you fight another guy with a stand. Imagine a whole army of blood and humans coming towards you. Dio would get terrified
You got a point

But this also could be a insult to Alucard's way of thinking.
As in this death battle, DIO successfully proof to Alucard that the bigger monster will always come out on top.
